Yeah they are a very good character but it feels like they were written for that book and then they just will do nothing with him

I feel if demons arent evil I dont see the point of them being demons. I mean I think it would be interesting if you can have fallen angels you should be able to see redeemed demons

I think it's a conflict between what demons are in popular culture and what they are in Magic specifically. I'm a D&D fan before a Magic fan, and demons in D&D are unrepentant evil. "Demons are Evil" is a fact in the same way that Newton's Laws of Motion are facts. If a demon managed to stop being evil, it would cease to truly be a demon, full-stop. The thing with Magic's demons is that what they are, in-universe, is embodiments of Black Mana. Part of what makes the Color Pie interesting in the first place is that none of the colors correspond specifically to ideas like "Evil". You can have antagonists in any color or group of colors - It gives a lot of freedom to explore different things. But because the term "Demon" is loaded with preconceptions, they can't really be anything but evil. In-universe, there's no reason for all demons to be evil, but because of metafictional inertia, it would feel really weird if they weren't. Black kind of runs into this problem a bunch, if I'm being honest. Like: Why are Zombies Black? Black is associated with self-interest, a rejection of social norms, lack of inhibitions. That's... Kind of the opposite of what I associate a horde of zombies with. Wouldn't it make a bunch more sense for zombies to be in White, because of the way they tend to be identical members of a horde with no real interest in self-preservation or personal power? But because zombies are undead and we traditionally associate them with evil, they're in Black. It's a shame, really.

Unfortunately demons will always crave more, so it’s not a great long-term plan.
