Thank you for your video. Something you did not mention was the percentage of iron oxides in makeup and sunscreens can vary a lot. How do you know if it's doing a good job of blocking out HEV? Also, is applying powdered mineral makeup with a brush, for example, not going to take off some of the sunscreen you just put on? One cannot always use a liquid foundation. This also becomes quite expensive ( makeup, serums, sunscreens, exfoliators, retinol etc...). You also need to reapply sunscreen regularly throughout the day... I am a melasma sufferer who diligently uses sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses. BTW, as per your notes above, I have seen 3 dermatologists here in Canada and all of them basically tell me I probably have mixed melasma (don't bother using a wood's lamp) and give me a prescription for a compounded 'triple cream'. And that is it.

I really dislike physical sunscreens having been a fan many years ago. Now I just rely on Korean made chemical sunscreens. Maybe I need to do my research again.

Can you please answer why does Tretinoin bring dark spots/freckles to the surface from beneath the skin? Will they fade if I continue Tretinoin? I am on my second bottle of Naturium Arbutin and Naturium Tranexamic acid which has kojic acid and licorice root included. I use lactic acid one night a week.

Avene has put out a new sunscreen with alleged blue light cover. A review or thoughts would great It was revolutionary for me to realise that I could use makeup to optimise HEV light screening, and stop stressing about finding tinted screens that rarely match my skin tone

As a light olive skin tone, I can relate. All tinted sunscreens I have tried are either too dark, too pink, too orange etc... I use the Avene one you're talking about. It's the only one I have found that can block blue light without using a tinted sunscreen or makeup. I am a drier skin type. Downsides: It does not absorb that great the more you reapply throughout the day. I found putting some on the top of your hand and having your body temp warm it up for a few seconds helps before you put it on your face. It's also very shiny so you'll get comments from people. I'm used to it so it doesn't bother me. Hope this helps.

I've been using that Avene sunscreen for over a year, and I recommend it. My skin has definitely become brighter since using it, the blue light filter works. I'm a man, and tinted sunscreen looks too much like makeup for me to wear comfortably. The Avene sunscreen is my only option for blocking blue light, and it's worth it.

Hi doc! How are you? Hope everything is fine. I want to ask for your opinion. I did TCA cross 90% for my ice pick scars with my board certified dermatologist here in the Philippines. Note that I had 9 other TCA cross done before that. So my healing process with her work was, on the left cheek, the scabs went off easily like 3-5 days as normal. However, on the right cheek, it took 2-3 weeks at least before it fell off and the scars became widened and deeper plus post inflammatory erythema. So imagine the shock and anxiety it gave me since I’ve been applying for a flight attendant position so I have to have flawless skin, right? My derma said to just wait, it will heal. 2 months after, she gave me a chemical peel for free for the PIE. Now, it’s been 3 months, it’s better than before but then again, there’s still PIE and the atrophic scars are there. I’ve been asking her to fix the craters caused by her TCA cross because I never had those atrophic scars before our TCA cross so naturally, I was hoping for a moral obligation from her to fix my botched skin. She will do a procedure if I will pay her. If I won’t pay, her preposition is to just wait until it heals, the PIE and the atrophic scars. Will it really heal just by waiting? How long will it take? A year or two? Do I have time to wait? No. I am unemployed and looking to go back to the airline industry and this happened to my skin? That’s so outrageous and unacceptable. It seems she doesn’t care about my situation that airline hirings come and go and I needed to be in my best skin every time they come here in the Philippines. I didn’t even go to some openings because I can see my skin is still not in the best shape. She never empathized with me even blaming me that I did this to my skin. As if she is god that she cannot do mistakes in her works. I have consulted with other dermas who saw my botched skin and they said procedures can already be done to resurface the skin and 3 months is enough for healing and waiting already. What can I do now that I can’t seem to talk to my derma in a civil way anymore for her to fix my skin caused by her procedure. Can I sue her? At this point, I don’t want her touching my face anymore but I can’t let it go that she doesn’t care about her clients whom went to her to have a better skin but gave the worst outcome. If this happened to me, maybe it will happen to other people.
