Great video, going to be doing my very first full detail on Thursday and these videos have hopefully prepared me to make a good job, love your products and have spent about $500 in the last month, wish me luck
I’m in the middle of buying some polishing pads, my question is, what’s the difference between the full faced pad, & the pad with the hole in the middle. Thanks.
Hey there! Prime the pad each time you start a new section for the first four or five sections then apply as necessary from there, if you notice dusting or excessive heat reapply Conditioner. The soft finishing pads such as a Black Hex-Logic can be used to apply glaze, sealant, and wax. - CG Nick
I believe you would match the pad and compound for its designed purpose. In otherwords, you wouldn't use a fine compound for removing light swirls with a heavy pad, and you wouldn't use a heavy compound for deep cutting with a soft pad meant for applying waxes or seals.
I just bought the machine and C4 with the P4 I plan on doing my half ton Silverado. I’m using your orange and white pad. How many pads will I need? Do I need to clean the pads? Where can I get the whole truck done with one side of pads without cleaning
So if I use the aggressive pad to get the Swirls and Imperfections out of my paint can I use a less aggressive pad to polish right afterwards? If so what pads should I get
Using the green pad with v36, on last 2 black cars i did, the pad left very small swirl marks that would not finish out. After wax its hard to notice them, but I couldn't get it finished out perfectly. What should I have tried?
Great detailed video. How do you clean your pads after you did a polishing pass on a section of the vehicle and you are ready to move onto another section ( or aka cleaning your polishing pads “on the fly”) ?
We recommend Pad Cleaner, it uses the natural cleansing power of citrus to wash and rejuvenate all foam, microfiber, and wool polishing pads, ensuring that pads last their longest and perform their best. www.chemicalguys.com/foam-and-wool-polishing-pad-cleaner/foam-wool-pad-cleaner.html
Every time you finish a pass? Seems excessive. Wool I can clean in 3 seconds and keep moving. Trying to find video to show pads being used in real world.
Do you guys make pads that fit on 7" backing plates like come on M18 polishers? I can't find one except on amazon but the reviews say they are actually for a 6
Hey! Check out the link down below and you will be able to find all thr polishers that are in the background. www.chemicalguys.com/accessories-and-tools/exterior-tools/polishers/
So you say you not suppose to put bigger pads on small backing plates because when you put pressure and they you showed on this video the way put pressure, that was a lot pressure you put I don’t think any detailer puts pressure like that. You not suppose to put pressure anyways when you using this pads let the machine do the work. Then that great video on explaining the pads yall have great product.
Hey! We recommend using different pads when polishing two separate cars unless you clean them using Pad Cleaner. www.chemicalguys.com/foam-and-wool-polishing-pad-cleaner/foam-wool-pad-cleaner.html
Great video. I am currently using a light duty Wen 6010 polisher. I am looking to go higher power heavy duty polishing. What polishing machine would you recommend?
Hey! We recommend the TORQ 15DA, it is the long throw dual action polisher that quickly and easily removes scratches and swirls to get your paint back to a mirror-like shine with minimal fatigue and maximum comfort. www.chemicalguys.com/torq15da-15mm-long-throw-random-orbital-polisher/BUF505.html
Hi there! It would be best if most of the water is spun out of the pad to prevent splatter as you polish or if it is going to be stored after cleaning it should be completely dry. - CG Nick
Hey! The red backing plates utilize Hyper Flex Technology to conform to curves and contours, filling the space more evenly with the whole pad for better results with your rotary or dual action polisher. The Molded Urethane Flexible Backing Plate is made with injection molded urethane, a strong fiberglass base, and an aluminum stabilization disc for rugged dependability on extended polishing jobs. Thanks for watching and thanks for being part of the Chemical Guys family!
I bought new 2020 Mustang it has water spots and very light scratch, before I put a Ceramic 9H coating on it what would be a good prep. Everything I've watched is older cars?
Hey! We recommend polishing it with V36 Optical Grade Cutting Polish, it is the great all-around cutting-polish that eliminates light to moderate paint defects and imperfections from all paint types, then finishes like a fine polish. www.chemicalguys.com/v36-optical-grade-cutting-polish/v36-cutting-polish.html
I have a question When switching from let's say compound to polish and then to wax do you use the same pad or a different pad? Because if your only doing the car in sections like 2ft by 2ft Wouldn't the polishing pads dry out by the time you get to the next section you want to do Please help me out here thanks

Hi there! Test in a small inconspicuous area before attempting to polish the entire vehicle. Use an Orange Hex-Logic Pad with V36 Cutting Polish or a White Hex-Logic Pad with V4 All In One Polish.
@@ChemicalGuys thanks for the reply! Trying to fix my paint local cat jump on and scratched the trunk and roof of my car. Should I get a black or for wax?
How will I know while I am polishing that the pad needs cleaning or to switch to a new pad? And is it bad to clean the pad with the pad cleaner/water and then continue using it? Or does it need to fully dry first? Thank you in advance!
Hey! You will start to see the pad turn white and it will get caked up with compound or polish. We recommend air drying it after you finish washing it. Once it is dry you may reuse it again. Thanks for watching and happy detailing!
Technically you can, however you also want to give your pads a break because if they get too hot from being worked too hard/long they will begin to collapse and fall apart. That's a reason why you see people swapping to a new pad after a panel or two. I learned this the hard way.
Hey! Machine polishing with the combination of C4 and P4 is a great option for removing blemishes. www.chemicalguys.com/products/c4-clear-cut-correction-compound-16oz?_pos=1&_sid=1b5359222&_ss=r www.chemicalguys.com/products/p4-precision-paint-perfection-polish-16oz?_pos=1&_sid=af2d43756&_ss=r
Hey! We do not recommend using a 6-inch backing plate with a 5-inch pad because there is a higher chance of you scuffing the paint with the backing plate. Thanks for watching and happy detailing!
@@ChemicalGuys you're always most welcome Buddy 😍😍😍 nice vid. Very informative 🤩🤩🤩thanks for sharing your knowledge and skills. GOD bless you always Buddy 🙏❤
