B is for shooting on low light environment when shooting without a flash. The only time you want to use it is when you're shooting it with a tripod on a dark place. This setting is also ideal for light painting.

@SaruKauri
@SaruKauri 4 месяца назад
As someone wrote, the tripod mount is for the bulb mode. I also want to point out for beginners that you don't need to hold the shutter open for 30 sec or more, it all depends of what ISO your roll is and if there are any light sources in the scene you're shooting. Thanks for a nice review and great song recommendation :)

Whew!!! Thank you! I really dreaded being a "dumbass" like you!!! Just joking!!! Thank you for the warning about Bulb mode, but I am familiar with it. Have been debating adding the Apparat to my collection -- I think that I will now as there is a Valentine's Day sale going on. And wow -- Moonlight Mile is even early for me! I was 8 when that was released! But yep -- sometimes the Stones just fit as a 'soundtrack' to life -- Cheers!!!

I find the ergonomics of lomo cameras confusing, why is the on switch on the front, where it cannot be seen from the shot taking position, why does the on switch have three positions the one opposite off not being the most commonly used setting ? These are not cameras set up for The Vital Moment, but seem to aspire to the complexities of bellows cameras.
@juliablasdel4873
@juliablasdel4873 Год назад
The bulb setting is why there's a hole at the bottom of the camera to screw it onto a tripod mount. The makers probably knew that the camera has some trouble in low light situations, so they wanted to give an option to counter that. There's actually quite a few (nicer) point and shoots that have the bulb setting.

Could you recommend some nicer point and shoots with the bulb setting
@juliablasdel4873
@juliablasdel4873 Год назад
@@mr.moosetache3615 Pentax ESPIO, Canon Sure Shot, and a more affordable option: Pentax IQzoom. Just remember that the bulb setting is for when you need the shutter to manually stay open for 30 seconds or longer. Since these are point and shoots the image will almost always be blurry, so if you are needing a film camera for long, manual, exposures I would recommend an SLR rangefinder (ie- pentax k1000). Basically a step up from point and shoot cameras without the complexity of a full on film SLR camera.
@thebitterfig9903
@thebitterfig9903 11 месяцев назад
@@mr.moosetache3615 A bunch of the Lomo cameras do bulb, too. Sprocket Rocket has the same 1/100th vs Bulb shutter style, as well as Diana and Holga (which isn’t Lomo, but similar). The Lomo LC-A line also sort of have bulb modes. They’re autoexposure, but in low light they will take really long exposures-effectively a bulb mode. I don’t have an LC-A, but reviews indicate that they meter and expose rather reliably with the long exposure shots.

Hey man. I’m hoping to get one of these little point and shoots to experiment with shooting film. I’ve been using my dad’s digital SLR but I love the idea of shooting film, just because it makes you think about your subject instead of clicking away mindlessly. I’m hoping to get some lomo 92 film too and try it out if we get a nice sunny but cool day on the beach near where I live. It should bring out the blue tint of the film quite nicely :). Thanks for the detailed review. 😊

Hey, I’d like a simple film camera to take general photos with. How does this one compare to the Kodak h35? If this camera can produce double exposure, does that mean it can be a half frame as well? Thank you
@maxkent
@maxkent Год назад
Hey! I’d suggest the H35. The lomo can’t shoot half frame. Alternatively for a similar price you could get a Pentax Espio 738s or an Olympus AF-10 (neither shoot half frame but they’re both better in terms of image quality).

I recently bought one in beige color, it looks very stylish, it is very fun to shoot with kaleidoscope lens and colored flash gelatin. The best part is creating different enjoyable photos without making many technical adjustments. What I can mention as a minus is that it is very difficult to advance the film to move on to the next frame after shooting, the jagged part is difficult to turn. And the back cover cannot be opened far enough, it is made of a flimsy plastic, I tried to open it more by mistake, thinking it was like the other metal cameras I have used, and back cover broke easliy. and cried 😭

There's also another fantastic song called Moonlight Mile by The Babies. You might like it as well! As for the camera, it definitely looks fun but I honestly can't wait to see manufacturers releasing new film cameras for more 'serious work' (for lack of a better word). Let's go Pentax!
@maxkent
@maxkent Год назад
Oo okay, I’ll have to check it out! Yeah! I know what you mean but I’m never sure what to expect when it comes to ‘new’ film cameras. I think one of the selling points of old film cameras is that they’re affordable. If they release the Pentax K1000 again then idk what price point it’ll be but it might be a bit pointless. So it’ll be interesting to see what they produce and at what cost!
@Fauxbourg
@Fauxbourg Год назад
@@maxkent For sure yeah, I think for many (me included) the hope is that this Pentax project will amount to the release of a 'professional' film camera for a somewhat reasonable price - as opposed to the M6 re-release for like 5500€ haha
