Good guide! The Ship Design you re looking for is Naval Bombers! 😅😂 But yeah the fleet i go for is: Naval Bombers at the coast/islands where you can. Convoy Escort, Anti Submarine Destroyer with sonar, depths charges. Patrol Recon Lightcruisers to find fleets(always disengage on) with Radar and spotting planes. Convoy Raiding Submarines (best you can build, max torpedos) avoid shallow Waters. Strike Force/Naval invasion, 4x Carriers(max Naval Bombers) + Heavycruiser(max lightattack) + Destroyer (some Torpedos), 1:4 Ratio Capital ship to Screens. Always engage on, never split to repair off! Obviously only use Nav Bombers to destroy fleets, but if you want to fight traditionals fleet battles, then Positioning and Organisation is key! Spotting the enemy fleet before they do gives you a huge positioning buff!
Can you just use a group with high detection to find the enemy using [patrol] (do not engage) and then using a bigger fleet [strike force] do not retreat/always engage (no repair) to get that positioning buff, or do you need some sort of extra scoutes inside the strike force as well ?
Now this is quite disillusioning. Putting no AA on Screens and instead all on BBs sounds pretty meta. Hope Paradox change this nonesense to something more realistic.
It's just how the game works sadly haha would love for "fleet AA" to play more of a role and for us to be able to make true AA destroyers just like they historically had
Having no AA multiplies you target selection, you should have at least 5 AA on everything unless you are trying to get it attacked . The targeting is still chance based, 0 AA ships will die for no benefit. The carriers still get attacked as well, they are weighted heavier than battleships and 0 AA just makes that more likely (5 times more likely). Air defence isn't used in a naval strike at all, just agility. The AA of all ships in your fleet reduces the damage done by any attacks as well so having 0 AA again makes no sense.
Tbh if you're talking about the most cost effective, then pre war destroyers are the cheapest, since you only need 1-2 depth charges and sonar, that's legit all you need for asw BUT, for the sake of having FUN then go for the 1940s if you want to 😁
While I like people that actually try the naval system. I kinda made my own ships that keep me floating more(pun intended). Destroyers: '36- 2 dd guns,1 torpedo low end aa, one asw charges, sonar, radar(if unlocked) if not empty, 40 just add one more torp launcher the other type just a pure simple minelayer/minesweeper. Light Cruisers: 3 cl guns, one torp, 1 aa, radar/sonar, level 2 armor, one small gun Heavy Cruiser: 3/2 HC guns, the rest just small guns, radar, and one level above the cl armor BB/BC: 3 main guns, 2 aa, 1 scout plane, radar small gun, best armor(best made by coastal ships manufacturer and switch something better) Carriers: 2 options small carriers or full deck carriers, depends on the country I'm playing; oh and full torp planes if with BBA plane one torp one machine gun(light/heavy doesn't matter but no cannons) and fuel sealing tanks. Submarines?: rarely use if so 2 torp tubes or same one but with radar for scouting. Id take quality over roach ships cause It seems to get better result than just SPAM.TM
You don't need the spotting cruiser. Three spotting destroyers find the Japanese in the middle of the ocean. (1936 DD, best sonar, whichever radar you have available.) Remember to put them on 'do not engage.' Using a cruiser spotter is a major waste of IC.
For hunting surface fleets I agree with you, but for finding subs I disagree. And since I always make spotting cruisers to find subs, I use them for all roles 😁
A quick question. Looks like i've been playing this game wrong for some time and i need to make sure.... Let's say i'm a soviet fighting the germans. Usually i didn't make another infrantry template (i just use the regular set plus some modification) but what should i do is to make another division to hold the line and another to attack right? Maybe 18 divisions to hold and 24 divisions to attack? Like that?
Yep pretty much! Sure you can! You can do whatever you want to, this is just a starting point 😊 if you do make battle cruisers I would recommend having the AA ships so they don't get sunk by naval bombers
