Yo Ocean, Please can u do a vid on everything to do with 808 SLIDES, I'm getting really jealous of FL Studios glides and slides and I want them in LOGIC! 😩
Yo. Good vid. Another option is to just copy the root note from your pad down to the bass layer. Then add a gate. Side chain the gate to your kick and the notes will only make a sound when the kick is active. Also, with the multi-band EQ you can side chain the EQ as well. So where you were wanting to dip the Bass at 200, you could have it sit normal (in the instance that you play a note that doesn't line up with the kick, but when the kick comes in it will duck the bass at 200 HZ. It's similar to sidechain compression, except it ducks frequencies rather than simply the attack :)
I was getting ready to put my music on the back burner. Since finding your channel, I am gonna get back into producing. I am a subscriber and I hit that bell. Love your videos bro.
You can also use ultrabeat and make an 808 kick with the synth engine (rather than using a sample). That way you have much more flexibility (adjust the pitch "decline" that is specific to 808 kicks, changing the pitch without changing the length, etc.). I think the default preset has such a kick, but the best is the chapter in the ultrabeat manual with a tutorial that explains well how to synthesise some specific drums sounds (like the 808 kick or snares). It's a good way to go in depth and understand those kind of sounds. Anyway, thanks for your channel. I'm still on logic 9, but it doesn't change much. Subscribed. 👍
Some other dope plugins in Logic for 808s are Klopfgeist and the Retro Synth Sub Bass Preset is FIRE!!! This will also always make sure you have clean 808s that are always in tune and can be played with your entire keyboard.
Would like to see more videos of everything you need to know on drums I liked the hi hats one and the 808 would love to see the rest of them broken down like this
thx for this great videos !! btw you can drag drop from finder (or loop browser) directly into alchemy on the main gui and drag it to the "sampler" section
2:40 'If you don't know what scale you're playing in, you could just use the bass notes' *proceeds to play Mary Had a Little Lamb LOL! Keep em vids coming bruv! Love and respect all the way from NZ
thanks for the fire tips. what i would do if i wanted to side chain but have my kicks hitting at different spots is automate the compression to only be active on the spots where they hit together. also the release time is crucial so set it so it correlates with the tempo
Do you use that mpk mini all the time for recording... I got a 61 key and like it but feel maybe its overkill and even less inspiring... thinking about changing it
