Fun Fact: This song was almost used in "The End of Evangelion (1997)", but Hideaki Anno decided that it didn't fit the movie's somber tone of the Third Impact, so Shiro Sagisu (composer) went ahead and used "Jesus Bleibet Meine Freude" by J.S. Bach for the scene of Shinji contemplating whether or not to start over.
That was for the best I think, Joy of Man's Desiring is a masterpiece that really fits the vibe of that section, it's simple, molodic and quiet. While this song is great it feels a bit too distracting for those scenes.
It was created for the original series but only released with the EoE soundtrack, it was going to be used as the ED for episode 26, the ED visuals were going to be unit one revolving around the earth.
"You can sail the seven seas and find that Love is a place you'll never see" "There's no one you ever truly loved. You are the only one you have and you never even learned how to like yourself" This song sounds like something Asuka would sing to Shinji tbh
Ehm, i feel like Shinji or Rei would sing this to Asuka because she don't love anyone, she say she loves Kaji but i feel like she just wants to escape from the reality that says she is alone and no one will never be with her, and she doesn't love herself, her depressions say it, and she says it. She wants to live by herself, but i bet sometimes she doesn't even like the idea of being with herself. I heard this from someone, i saw the series and i am not sure at all if Asuka dies in her EVA, but if she did, she died with hate and sadness. Dang this anime is strong.......
Never saw this anime or heard this song, but with that picture, this melody, the lyrics, and the way you sing it, I can definitely say this is hauntingly beautiful. Nicely done, Jenny. :)
They already used Thanatos (If I can't be yours) for the credits. They placed the credits midway to gather the attention on that last scene for the movie.
When you listen to this song again after watching 3.0+1.0 you can totally feel Asuka's pov as she had everything taken away from her. >but she got Kensuke now honestly he feels more like a stepfather figure or replacement of Kaji, not even a proper romance and you can see the final part of the movie at the train platform, only Kaworu and Rei are smiling while Asuka looks terribly lonely looking at Mari flirting with Shinji
is it awkward that I'm imagining a slow dance to this? seriously it's stuff like this that cranks up my creative flow. EDIT: i called the chief. he said this is it.
Such a beautiful cover, I always adore this song and pretty sad because it seems forgotten since it's an unused song. Thank you so much for doing this song justice!!
I had this song stuck in my head this morning...I wake up, see the @everyone ping on your discord and i was thinking. Oh i wonder if it's this, but that'll never happen, but NOPE, YOU ACTUALLY DID IT. i'm going to die now. thankyou so much for this blessing Edit: what instrumental did you use? Just wondering, i've searched for one before and couldn't find it, but maybe I'm blind ;__;
Glad to see this obscure-ish Evangelion song get covered. (It would make me happy af to see someone dig up the storyboard sequences of how the Third Impact scene was supposed to look with this song as the theme of it, as it was supposed to be used instead of Komm Susser Tod)
Am I the only one who thinks the fits Gendo like a glove? Especially with what he reveals in 3.0 + 1.0 this wholeheartedly feels like an explanation of the heartbreak he lives with ever since Yui died/disappeared.
〔原文〕 What was it she did to dreak your heart Betray your heart and everything kiss you with a kiss that wasn't true It wasn't you at all Hide behind a painted smile did you know that You would live a lit or tow Pull the very ground from under you And leave you nowhere else to run You can sait the seven seas and find Love is a place you'll never see Passing you like a summer breeze You feel life has no other reason to be You can wait a million years and find That heaven's too far auay from you Love's just a thing others do What is love Till it comes home to you Did she promise you the would and did that Girl just throw your live away Leave you like a lonely solitare With just despair for company Do you think you'd find revenge so sweet Make it so you hearts will never beat Squeeze the very last and dying breath from Everything you've Ever dreamed You can sait the seven seas and find Love is a place you'll never see Passing you like a summer breeze You feel life has no other reason to be You can wait a million years and find That heaven's too far auay from you Love's just a thing others do What is love Till it comes home to you 〔日本語訳〕 あの子に何をした?
Just finished the series, and EOE. I think I'm gonna stop looking for things related to the series, Directors Cuts of episodes, and all. Cause everything I find just leaves me feeling more and more depressed. Amazing cover.
Your Eva vids are awesome, but i think the Komn Suber Tod was something truly exceptional! hope you do more jazz theme ones, your voice matches up with them. Hell you should try "Snake Eater"! Great work!
I downloaded soundcloud just so I could listen to your music a few moments ago and this song played before I got the notification. Livin’ the life already.
Not everyone knows this song well enough to cover it. Fuck,I just recently found it via reading the Wiki and I kinda wished this was used in the End of Evangelion film. I have to admit, you did a very good job with this cover and I wasn't expecting much.
I like the idea of EYED being a collective siren song from the LCL trying to lure in those who rejected instrumentality. EYED is about the collective mass of humanity trying to induce the feelings they had when evolving, into anyone who still had a will to live so they'd want to join them. Telling them that they've killed people, that they never found love, telling them that they've been cheated by ones they've loved, that there's nobody to be found anymore now that everyone else chose the "correct option", telling them that everything that can be done in their measly un-evolved state has been done and that it's time to change. All of that is nonexistent in the eyes of the new humanity and that all of that won't matter if they come to their senses and accept instrumentality. It's the same tactic churches use to lure in those who've wronged others to believe in Christ so that they believe that all they've done will be forgiven. The depth of every song in EOE is beautiful and incredibly deep once you begin to look into it the past disturbing lyrics and connect it to the themes of the movie.
You have a beautiful voice. Just two things: Didn’t like the Shakira style in that note at the beggining, and find your true voice. I think it is better than Katy Perry’s style. Arianne sings very clear, she doesn’t abuse of excessive vibrato and breathing, that discrete (and powerful) way is the key. :)
You guys notice how Shinji only uses that shirt, it's like if he doesn't have any other clothes, maybe it's right but, dang ikari, give your son some clothes....
