Today we have a lot of pianists, but only a few real musicians. Bozhanov is one of them and I have to go back in time in order to find someone of the same caliber. He reminds me of Rachmaninoff and Horowitz!!
very sophisticated indeed, but can´t compare to the best, horowitz has been out of reach for decades ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vmLvpJySb50.html just pogorelich got a bit close ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SVxWAO9w-oA.html
i agree, it seems like too many pianists are only focused on virtuosity and showing their technical skills a lot more than their musicality when playing the pieces, even though skill is of course appreciated, i think you gotta have some soul when playing the piano especially, otherwise it just ends up feeling very robotic
Lovely as the playing is by Bozhanov, with wonderful arrays of colours, viewers should look to Cherkassky's video - not to compare, but to note how sublime this piece is, with every harmony savoured.
Idk if this version was written with quite the sale scene in mind. Godowsky seems to have tripped on acid and saw the swan floating through space-time, if you ask me.
@@TheDionysiac This is my version which took me 10 months to master. I got one note wrong at the beginning but you can hear every single note clearly. Godowsky wrote on the score that it should be played under 2 minutes. For once I prefer my own version instead of the one by a virtuoso ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-r0IoujlQoKM.html
Godowsky specified a very quick tempo: "duration under two minutes". A number of modern performances are around 3 minutes long. The tempo here is very unsteady, though fast. and certainly doesn't fit the image of a swan swimming across still a pond.
