I found your presentation very interesting, thank you for this. I started having problems about nine years ago. I've had gastroscopies and video fluoroscopy done, and in a week I'm (at last!) due to see an ear, nose, and throat specialist here in the UK. The fear of aspiration and choking with stridor is ever present. I've found that kneeling and putting my head to the floor helps gravity to clear my airway when this happens. I have on several occasions wondered if I've somehow fallen into bad swallowing habits, and need to learn anew how to swallow normally (I'm 75 years of age, and my problems began after I retired at 65). Your book looks interesting, and I'm going to buy a copy.

My mom had a bad fall and cannot swallow. She had two brain bleeds which stabilized. She keeps failing the swallow test the speech therapist keeps giving her. How do I request an SLP and is this the same as a speech therapist?

I had swallowing problem for the past 4 years. Went to gastroenterologist and ent also did barium swallow which was normal. Then I went to the best ENT doctor of my country and it shows that I had pharynx tissue increased along with tonsil and other types of infection kind of thing.

Can anxiety affect swallowing? I find sometimes I need to focus on swallowing and will at times lightly rub the front of my throat to swallow.

My 20 year old son is having trouble swallowing water. We did take him to a GI and they did an ECG . They did a biopsy and balloon but found nothing but acid reflux. Still having trouble with water. Should he see a different specialist?

I injured my throat during a voice lesson. I felt something pop in my throat and some pain while doing a difficult exercise incorrectly. Since then theres been a clicking in my throat in the cartilege of my voice box that wasnt there before, and the more tense I am the worse it is and more uncomfortable. Years later, I'm having a lot of tension in my throat, jaw, and face and swallowing is difficult. Im uncomfortable most of the time. I went to a physical therapist who specializes in swallowing but she said there wasnt anything wrong that she could see...I'm at a loss

I had dysphagia for 9 months my doctor did nothing and told me its stress related. Now after a barium test I insisted shall be done they found mild oral and pharyngeal dysphagia and my PAS score is 2 and FOIS G score is 6. Sadly my doc wrote that I have generalized anxiety disorder and that I have a globus sensation even tho I dont have it. Sadly nobody believes me....
