Evidence for extent of optimal lymphadenectomy in gastric cancer 

Though there is no consensus on the type of resection between the Japanese/ Korean practices vs US-European centers but it is generally believed that D2 or at least D1 plus resection be done for operable advanced gastric cancer. The advantage ( in OS, DFS) of extended resection (D3) is offset by high morbidity and mortality in most studies from the west.
