Possessing Truth in Balance & Anatomy of a Backslider by Victor Bentley, 1989, PPH. What helped me to not give up/backslide years ago was this scripture my pastor, at the time, preached, "Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you, (Heb. 13:17). "With joy, and not with grief", struck my core! Thank you for addressing this topic. Jesus bless you.
Indeed! "The more spiritual an individual becomes, the more humble, pliable......" I appreciate that Brother Mayo. If God has bestowed true gifts upon a Believer, there is no need for them to sound out to let everybody know that they have those gifts. In my experience, those that sound out are usually shooting stars that come crashing down in the form of failed meteorites that burn out quickly. Sadly, there is no fruit or enduring effectiveness from such individuals. God help us to walk humbly and circumspectly helping to build the kingdom of God in true holiness
This is brief. I believe (with confirmation) that if I do not pray on my knees then I have not really prayed and I don't have the armour on that day. Sometimes things will happen that will make me think, "how would i have handled that situation if I had not prayed on my knees that day?" Something happened at my job yesterday evening that reminds me of what I'm saying. The situation at my job wasn't about someone being rude but it was about something being missed and not just by me. It was noticed by someone else. I know it will be reviewed next week. Everyday my flesh wants to procrastinate praying on my knees until I get on my knees. I know if I pray on my knees today (morning and evening) it's like also preparing myself to pray tomorrow. I can understand if someone has a medical reason that prevents them from praying on their knees. In that case I believe Jesus has an alternative. Sometimes within seconds (like it's timeless) of getting on my knees I'm aware of the presence of the Lord or that something has been lifted. 2 Corinthians 3:17 (KJV) "Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty."
