Not sure about Amdur over Rutabi like. Even if it's just marginally. She's got more tools for less. Also. The captain. The march can stack with the drum. That's insane if you pull it off.

always a pleasure to listen to. I found myself agreeing on most thing on this list. The only disagreement is with the Dragon Knight/Captain comparison. Realistically, it's probably not going to come into play most of the time (usual order being DE, Brorgir,Rutabi), but when it does, I usually tend to favor the captain. They come into play at higher points, when the big toys and magic are around. The Dragon Knight is defenceless against anything that can target it at a distance and still caps at S4. The captain on foot fills a niche, which is the 2handed S5 hit against D7. In my experience the captain tends to go the distance more often than the knight. It's easier to hide, slightly more survivable, hits harder and gets underestimated all of the time. Regarding the Khand captain, what kills it is that he realistically can be played only in pure or easterling mixed lists. But it's amazing for its points, and won me a tournament by killing big heroes' mounts and stalling them.

Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! You have a good point about the captain profile, being the only model in the list that can go above S4 (without Khamul or Bladewrath). -Charles

Im biased but dont knock Frida! Her and Gorulf tend to work in tandem. Gorulf for foot big heroes, Frida for mounted (with shoving someone to their death inbetween her and that hero). She routinely holds up big stuff like Elessar, Bannermir, Azog and Gil Galad with minimal trouble. Its the only reason i walked away from Ben's Azog at clash with only a minor (after gorulf got dropped to his death by bats).

Grima best hero #changemymind

I can respect that! Frida is definitely a solid profile. She’s just not the easiest to write into lists at certain points values, when you’re also considering Oathmaker or a chieftain for heroic march. -Charles

the Bosun is incredible, as a pure corsair player i HAD to take him at 300pts, banner, weapon options, heroic march AND the whole ruleset with the reavers, and if you know reavers you know how overpowered they are when controlled with the bosun. He's 45 points with a weapon, its absolutely insane
@intothewestpodcast
@intothewestpodcast Год назад
Agreed, he’s a must-take with reavers and very good in lower points. If Suladan wasn’t so accessible as an alliance, he would be much higher on our list. -Charles

Do you think Grima is tooo powerful for 25 points? I’ve had some complaints in my games when I use him since a lot of people just don’t seem to know how to counter him
@intothewestpodcast
@intothewestpodcast 3 месяца назад
Maybe, but Grima has enough weaknesses that if he were to cost more, he may be a more conditional pick competitively. You need to take Saruman first, which you can consider as somewhat of a tax to take Grima. There’s a decent amount of magic at the higher points where you see Grima, and Grima is very succeptible to magic. If Grima could be taken without Saruman, then he probably should cost more.

What other cheap harad heros are there other than the Taskmaster? The cheiftain is trash and all the other heros are like +25p. The Taskmaster is your cheap hero. He only has to get you ONE might back in order to be at the same might level as most of the other heros. I take him often as an third hero and he does his job most of the time. And then you have him go bonkers in some games with like 4-5 extra might.
@intothewestpodcast
@intothewestpodcast Год назад
I think what Rainier meant by cheap heroes was heroes that are points efficient for their Might points, namely Raza and Haradrim King. It’s true that you can get decent value with taskmasters, IF you’re willing to follow the specific play style required (taking a risk of payoff not being a guarantee, and also needing to group your heroes close to the taskmaster). -Charles

I'm not sure who the Beastmaster is in the mesbg list builder. Does the model have a different name?
@intothewestpodcast

His full name is Mahûd Beastmaster Chieftain. As he will always be taken with a Mûmak, you should find him as an upgrade option on the Mûmak’s profile.

Oh and I have to share one thing: I've played against a Ruffian list several times in our local group's competitive league. It's a surprisingly tough list for some scenarios where bodies on objectives determine a win. The player uses a list with all the named Ruffian heroes and the lamp guy is annoying as heck. I'd rank him above all the others in that army. In one game we played, he stood behind a low wall and held up Lurtz, who was my leader, for three turns! Then when I got to the wall, he defended it for another two or three turns. He ended up with a minor victory simply because I couldn't bring everything to bear in time and it was mostly down to the lamp guy breaking my game for so long.

Thanks for sharing your experience against Harry! High numbers is one thing Ruffians have going for them - with the right match up and scenario it can be brutal. -Charles

There is a build that I have been experimenting with the past little while where I think the Hasharin can work. The basic idea is to get as many 3A heroes into a list as you can, and to use them to crush your enemies troops. Depending on the points value, you should be able to get 3-5 heroes like that. It is possible with good side armies, but evil men do it the best because they tend to have more 3A heroes under 100pts. The build I run has 4, Dalamyr/Suladan/Raza/Hasharin at 600-700 points. Ideally you’ll be charging, so you can get all of your heroes into combat with 2-3 enemy troops (1 will probably have to deal with an enemy hero, but the rest should just be grinding enemy troops). You’re basically aiming to have your heroes kill 6-8 enemy troops a turn. Most armies can’t stand up to that rate of attrition for more than a few turns and then you can start to snowball. This is army does not play well against dwarves though, because they tend to have high numbers and high defence, which make it harder for the heroes impact to be felt. Erebor Dwarves can do this style of build pretty well too though. The Hasharin fits in well with this because of his F5/3A and wound re-rolls. His low defence value doesn’t hurt as much because most basic troops are S3. -Ian

I wonder if the golden king has a spot here, since you will probably be able to break the enemy often and then you can make ant leaders still left retreat, fail stand fast , so enemy army hordes etc break apart, allowing you to take the objective games!
