And shown to hundreds of people wanting to see a tournament. It's kinda accurate back in the day. It's like wrestlemania and suddenly in the middle of high stakes action, here's a pillow fight with women wearing lingerie.
@@AndrewKennethColborn the unironic version of the "just don't get hit lmao" meme that, and the darkchips themselves are op enough to carry against everything except exactly nebula gray
You'd think those that are tech savvy, would've run the program on a separate computer to see how it works when some dusty-ass freak from a street corner would hand a chip with a VERY sketchy name for a battlechip.
IIRC, they did try to remove it in other ways that this edit doesn't show because it wanted to focus on evil Roll. Just not the 'put in a new chip because you can only equip one at a time so it will spit that one out' way that worked. Also, technically this is from two different episodes edited together.
As soon as they saw the transformation, the characters tried to remove the chip, until the character with the glasses arrives, who is the close be a navi expert (the virtual characters) who tells them to insert another, the chips never get stuck except this time, it's normal that they didn't know what to do
They are too much in a panic and only try to forcefully pull out the chip, which obviously doesn't work. It's an absolute facepalm moment when the real Higure/Higsby shows up and tells them they just need to slot in another chip to remove it.
1:33 And there I thought that iconic "mug of disappointment" sound effect was original to Spongebob Squarepants. I read through the comments as I heard this sound, and assumed the author added it manually to the video. Apparently not. Looks like it's one of those widely used stock sound effects like the neighing horse or the screeching cat.
Holy shit, this was the main episode that I remember from watching this show as a kid! Thanks Evil Roll for making 9 yr old me develop an early fondness for masochism lmao 🤣
I've always thought it was weird that Netnavi can just quit their operators. Even the games did this a few times. You'd think Navi are source coded to their pets, but nah. They're total individuals that can just quit listening to you. It's rather strange the more technical you get to thinking about it.
They were programmed to have their own minds,to not be limited to user control. They were programmed to be more like humans in a digital world in terms of will.
evil roll : whatever I do, will be my choice. Meiru : Okay don't obey me, that's an order. Evil Roll : Like i'd follow your orders!! I'll listen to you, in an...attempt...to ...not...Wait...
Roll turning "evil" doesn't make sense because she became a completely different person instead of just having her negative traits amplified. Atleast with Dark Protoman his core programing was heavily altered by Laser Man so it made some sense.

What makes Roll-sama great is that she totally trolled everyone into thinking she went back to normal. That kind of subversion to expectations makes her way more interesting than her usual self.
To think this doming scene was broadcast to hundreds of people, and all they had to is insert another battlechip, the dub said just add the cyclone battlechip like a counter, but literally inserting anything is way more dumber.
Growing up all i remembered from the show that stood out like a sore thumb was roll being like a dominatrix towards megaman. I didn't forget the show or the games but for some strange reason my mind always goes to this scene and I can't stop laughing about my mind remembering this but nothing else!
Wow, my parents failed me. We lived in Okinawa from 02-05 and today I just found out about this show. Irony is they got me Battle Network 2 for xmas yet with how sheltered they raised us, they never thought to let us find a local channel to watch anime like this.
Wow, Roll turned into a domimatrix! Japanese "children's" anime can sure get away with a lot more than American Saturday morning/weekday afternoon cartoons could! Not to mention Lan sure likes to say "shit" a lot...
@@JohnSmith-zw8vp Power puff girls literally had a villain who was pretty much a dominatrix. She even stole Ms. Bellum's identity and then her and Ms. Bellum fought it out. There's so many innuendos in older cartoons it's funny. That was back in the days when children who should still have there innocence would have all those concepts fly over their heads like it should. If kids notice it, then it means they've been exposed legit adult stuff earlier then they should've been.
