These games are perfect for people who work and got responsibilities, you can enjoy them while the game drives you and you get immersed in it. A lot of games nowadays require too much investment of time and concentration in order to really enjoy

I've seen a lot of mixed to negative reviews on this game for the very reason I am excited about it. It's not afraid to just be a video game and let the player just have fun and that is exactly what I want from this! It would be awesome to see more games like this come out.

This game actually looks like a lot of fun. At first I was concerned about the short length of the game, But then thought about all the longer games I haven't been able to finish yet with a busy full time job. So maybe a shorter game is what I need right now. Love the review, I think I'm going to get this game after all.

I’ll definitely check this out! After playing Elden Ring, Yakuza, Valhalla, Cyberpunk 2077, RDR2, I need a break from these massive 100+ hour games. I miss the nice short and sweet games and this looks exactly what im looking for

I enjoy games like this, it's a straight up action adventure game that doesn't try to reinvent the wheel nor does it try to be something it's not. In a world of under developed & over developed games, evil West is a breath of fresh air ✌️

There is always a place in the video game market for linear games. So long as the presentation and experience offered is good. The Devil May Cry series are linear, and they are still popular. This seems like it follows that kind of style. I'm definitely interested.

I’m definitely picking this game up! This honestly gives me vibes of if they made Ash from Evil Dead into a cowboy, and I’m all for it

This looks like one of those classic games where you sit on the couch, turn your brain off and just enjoy!

Been waiting for this game for awhile now, so happy people are enjoying it. The concept, world, and action look like a lot of fun! This will be a nice change of pace after I fully finish God of War Ragnarok.

I legit stopped playing PS5 for months & let my brother keep it running in his room but I’ve seen this game a few months back & seeing this out now is exciting. Downloading right now as I type this 🙌🏽

Love linear games tbh some games add too much into them this is basically perfect for people that like just story and linear games obviously there are some games that are good at adding things into the game but not overwhelming the player e.g gowr, metro, resident evils etc

Jake you had me at Hugh Jackman's van helsing, been waiting for a before you buy on this game since I first heard about it and it looks exactly what I was hoping for.

So I just heard of this game LITERALLY today. Saw a couple of reviews then wanted to check gameranx's verdict. I love games like this; not afraid to just be games and something I like - retro style, linear shooters vibing from the PS3 era that can be beaten in couple of sessions. No lie bought the game right after for £42. I hope I end up enjoying it. We need to show love for more titles like this. 🙂

No side quest, no rpg, no loot. As soon as I heard those words, I bought the game.

I like how this games main villans are vampires but you don't exclusively fight vampires. It definitely has a castlevainia vibe in that way. In this game they introduce so many different monster types that going forward they could go in any direction with the main villan. I like how in this game the vampires are reserved as the tougher enemies in the game and I really like how the lore goes into detail about how high born vampires are the original bloodline so they are like super bosses it's really cool. They really gave us a taste of what could be a very large and diverse world where there could be more than one main villan species of monsters. You could go with necromancers as the main villans or the werewolves or the jenu giants. I feel like there was alot of love put into this world I just hope it can survive long enough as a series to develop some real depth in storytelling because other than fixing some glitches and co op gameplay connection issues storytelling is really the only other thing this game needs to work on going forward. The combat is beautiful and so much fun any issues I have with the game are so quickly forgotten when I'm facing off against 2 highborns and 5 nagals on hard difficulty it takes me back to devil may cry I love it.

A Game for guys my age late 30s mid 40s who just want to shoot crap without grinding without micro management

This game just hit Game Pass and I knew you guys had to have covered it when it came out. As someone who wants to play games but doesn’t have much time for them, I can see myself playing this without feeling the need to do a whole song and dance for it. I usually agree with the verdict from this series, so I look forward to playing this tonight!

The game footage and description gives me so much Bulletstorm vibes, which is a very good thing..! I loved that game enough to have already bought it for both for 360 and PS4. Just simple escapist gameplay fun set in a creatively designed world. I hope this one holds to that standard… 😁

This game is amazing, definitely got red dead revolver vibes. Definitely takes you back to the good Ole days of gaming.

I'm always excited for a new third person game especially the ones that choose to focus on the story. No open world, no side quests. Just hop in the game, beat it, and replay it. Those are rare these days.

That was why I loved the 360. All kinds of random and wacky games came out for it. I have a ps5 now, but this seems like it’ll be a fun pick up.

I'm actually enjoying this game, I think it's pretty underrated. I think the difficulty curve is kind of bad though. I went from being able to take no hits whatsoever to dying constantly between like one encounter. I won't finish it before Callisto Protocol releases, and I will definitely be ditching it to play that. It's not good enough to delay me from playing that.

I picked this up yesterday on a Xbox sale. I got a few hours in last night and Jake couldn't be more right about it having an "old-school" game type feel. It was tons of fun. Can't wait to dive in over the weekend and get to the guts of this game.

There are not many games these days that are as forgiving for older graphic cards (GTX 1050). I can play this on epic settings at 30fps and it gives me that old-school R&R. So, a definite must-buy for me!

I’m in love with this game for the sole purpose of being a complete polished AAA game on release, which is a rare commodity nowadays

I think Plague Tale does this simple format brilliantly, the levels (or chapters) are linear but not so that your hand is held, it tells a brilliant story and develops the character with dialogue as you are walking through the level. Hopefully this game and future games follow that format, I don’t want every single game to be linear but just a few so have a choice of gameplay because everything does feel complicated or open world at the minute.

Am I looking for a riveting and heart-tugging story? No. I literally just want to be a cowboy and shoot vampires

I love games like this. We need more or them, but, perhaps add a bit more depth and length.

This game is great, it’s a refreshing new take of the Wild West setting that has you gunslinging and electrifying until your hearts content. The game knows exactly what it is and it sets out to be just that. It has a good upgrading system for the character as well as all your weapons also so plenty of options if you’re like me and love having a good upgrading mechanic in games. If you’re looking for an arcade feeling third person linear shooter that is easy to pick up on the fly this should definitely be near the top of your list. Just on a personal opinion if I were to try and compare this game to anything else gameplay wise at least I would say it’s a loose mash up of god of war & gears of war.

So… if RDR2 and Ragnorok are my favourites, is there a good chance I’ll feel like my money is well spent?

Overall love the looks and combat of this game, as u said, it's honestly interesting enough to get u into it! I honestly want to see a sequel to this and hope that they get into all the points they missed such as story/char depth + environment and stage building etc :3

It's free with ps plus this month and I can't wait to give it a go. I miss thise types of game that just let you play and have fun. Guardians of the Galaxy are exactly that as well. If Evil West is even half as fun as that I'm happy.

Just beat this. Really does feel like the best way to describe it is a mix of old and new gow set in the wild west. I felt the same way about vamps but actually like all the different creatures bc a lot of them are linked to American myths like the jersey devil and skinwalkers

I'm really enjoying this game and yeah it does remind me a lot of ps3/360 era game. It's a harder game than I thought it would be as well.

I might get it on sale, it seems a tad steep for an oldschool type of game but definitely looks fun to play.

there is a game that is familiar with Evil West's kinda vibe.. i played it on ps2 ages ago and its called Darkwatch..but its first person shooter kind of game.. now with evil west being release..its kinda make me happy that the game devs decides to dive in third person game with wild west and vampire kinda setting..and thats true they dont make games like this anymore..im looking forward for more games like evil west ngl..

This is very much a "Darkwatch" spiritual successor in my mind, and I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned that.

Yeah...I don't know what you guys are talking about, but I've played this game through twice and it is not worth $50. You have games like APEX, Valorant, and Warzone for free that have more playability than this. God of War Ragnarök and a few others are worth the higher cost because you don't arrive abruptly at the end. You can have a little fun with this game, but the ten hours goes by quick, and once you are done, you're done. The only other option you have is to replay the missions, on a harder level, to level up your character, but there is nothing more than that. If I could go back, this would be a hard pass for me. No offense to Jake or anyone else at Gameranx. I like, and will always continue to try to support this channel. Continue what you're doing.

I like the idea of bot starting an IP at full price. If the game does well it can become a giant epic masterpeice in the meanwhile devs can be a little less cautious and try new ideas out.

Any game passed San Andreas is beyond too complicated with the buttons and actions. Happy to hear a game for old dawgs like me.

This reminds me of Shadows of the Damned. Something that I never got to finish because I was young and new to gaming. My mom made me trade it in when she realised that I was too young for it. Now I can't really find it anywhere.

Got this game and do not regret it. Having seen all of his moves and perks, I can confidently say Jesse Rentier is going to be a DLC character in a future MK game 😂

With the coop aspect it almost looks like Lost Planet 2. I loved playing that with a friend. Unfortunatly Evil West, has no Split-Screen Coop. I think they missed out on that opportunity 😔

I wasn't looking forward to it until you said it was fully co-op! Now I'm going to add it to the list of games I need to pick up... On sale.

This is a $39.99 kinda game for me. Definitely going to wait for a sale or Game Pass release. But for the right price, it looks very fun. I’ll just replay The Order and/or Bulletstorm for now.

This sounds like a powered western version of Max Payne 3. Which I loved.

The first thing I noticed was the mocap on the guy running & jumping. Looks like a little kid or something very off from an athletic, tough guy.

I’m at devils cape part. Loved this game so far, it gets annoying sometimes that huge leech zombie with the shield. Feels like more demons than vamps. But the boomstick is crazy or pulling enemies to you. Thanks for the review loved it, as always. Any games coming out this year?
