It's the middle of winter up here in Canada. Feels like a deep freezer right now lol. Must be nice to be boating in the middle of January. I enjoy your videos. I learned a lot from you.
I have a 15.5 trapper topper stick steer with 1989 25hp evinrude. 10.3X 12 = 21 mph @ 4500 rpm same exact sound wot as your setup. I purchased a solas Amita prop 10.8x10p now 23mph @ 5350 rpm. I'm running trim hole 2 for both test. The Evinrude runs sweet and quite like the new prop took the load off it. What did you use to clock your speed with. Are you running a 30 or 35 carburetor?
I just got a similar setup 1648 with a 05 25HP Johnson. I think it may have a spun prop as I was only able to achieve around half throtle before I felt some kind of slipping. I got to around 10 MPH on phone GPS top speed. Can anyone recommend what prop to get? Pitch/size? This is my first boat/outboard so any advice on getting a new prop is appreciated.
You have fairly big Jon boat and if you are planning to have another person in it with you most of the time I would go with 12 pitch. If you want to get most of your motor performance get stainless steel one. Most of my 1448 boats did good with 13 pitch. If you are planning go out most of the time by yourself 13 pitch will be fine.
Your boat should be able go 26 to 30 MPH with 25 HP Johnson with one person in it. Anything less than 26 MPH would indicate either too low or too high pitch on propeller. Standard pitch propeller your motor came out of factory was 13 pitch.
Thank you I just shot from the hip and ordered a new 13 pitch prop(Solas Amita 3 Blade Aluminum 13P 2211-101-13). Not sure it that is the problem or not but I will try it when it comes in. I had 2 people and a decent amount of gear when I last tried it with old prop.
Thank you found Solas Amita 3 Blade Aluminum 13P 2211-101-13 for a decent price so I will try it and see. If it does well I will get a stainless in same size or try 12 pitch next. Thank you for the input.
@@sethgabbard7705 LOL! My bad with my aging eyesight and not reading or remembering what he posted it was. Nothing like good old 2 stroke OMC outboards either, had many.
