It's so weird to watch Wobbles play, I see him all the time in the commentating booth giving his usual hilarious anecdotes. However, it's surreal actually seeing him play on this level.
Because he can win games by cheesing and then Cheesing again? Abusing mechanics in a game that aren’t patched because Nintendo doesn’t care about competitive
@@adamwallace7638 wobbles barely wobbled at this tourney lol. He legit outplayed hbox, mang0 and ppmd to take 2nd. Wobbles does not “cheese opponents”.
Hungrybox did a fast falling Nair then Wobbles tried to react and punish it but once he let go of his shield he got rested trying to punish the Nair. Sort of like a Rest of hope because it's not guaranteed a rest since they can just shield it. Puffs do it since nana is stupid so there's a chance she can get rested but not popo
@UCQ3D4JyCnXb4SLNPMBbIHlw what's "satisfying" is that hbox is now the best player in the world and you hate him for no reason. he's grown and changed as a person, but the melee community is too petty to let anything go. enjoy his reign, pussy
Popo jumped and wavelanded to the left on the platform and Jigs Baired hitting him with the left part of the hitbox so it sent popo flying to the left. ICs wavedash is really fast so maybe you didn't noticed they were already on Jigs left side.
While I don't think it should be banned, the best argument against it would probably be that it equalizes skill. The fact that every mistake will cost you an entire stock makes it possible to win matches with luck.
holy shit i went into vs mode and with jiggly puff i can take on people with an 8 difficulty! with others i could only do 6, jiggly is my favourite character now
MrWizard said on smashboards as recently as last month that WF/LF were also 3/5. I think this was a last minute rule change made to give time to that awful Killer Instinct presentation.
Pretty much EVO is crazy stupid about that. It shouldn't be held in such a high regard as a tournament. I understand the time constraint problem but the whole top 8 should be best 3 of 5 as that wouldn't add a horrendous amount of time and top 8 is where the seeds usually end up meeting so they should have the most neutral format to fight against each other. In my opinion the fact that even this year only had 3 out of 5 for top 3 means that, until things change, EVO should not be considered the most important tournament to win. 2 out of 3 is bullshit for a number of reasons (stage bans, the strength of momentum from winning first game etc...) and are terrible at allowing players to reach placings that reflect their skill level on a consistent basis. Characters like Peach or Puff will basically never be able to play dreamland, M2K will never get to play FD etc.. EVO is important for the exposure and I'll watch every year. But any set win in a 2/3 wont impact my opinion of who is better than who whatsoever and winning a tournament mostly composed of 2/3 is a shallow win.
thats literally how pretty much any character has to fight puff... Hbox is amazing so you can't just ignore the matchup. Every character has strengths and weaknesses and Puff's signature style is that she can play defense and neutral so well and safe. The nature of Puff is defensive glass cannon. She dies at extremely early percents from kill moves, but those kill moves are really hard to hit on her. One bad move or over extension from you and she has a move that kills earlier than any other viable move in the game (rest), so you basically die for messing up just a little. Puff kinda has that effect of firing back your attack at you with twice the power (example: you go for a read grab as marth, she crouches under it and instantly rests. you just died for attempting a grab at 10%). You do something you shouldn't have and she just takes you to town weather its with a pile of damage from her bairs or, if you really messed up, a rest. TLDR; due to puff's aerial movement, ease of escaping combos, offstage abilities and extremely strong punishes. The only way to beat a puff player who's really good is to take the defensive and slowly build up damage then kill her by making her mess up while still being safe about it. Puff is and has always been about patience; regardless of character.
Not at all, it was much more the fault of the players for not checking. Not every tournament is the exact same, and just like how all players knew the sets at KoC were 3/5 in bracket, they should have known that these were all 2/5 till GF.
A.) B-Moves are hardly ever used in competitive, and even so, Jiggly's B-down>all Kirby's B-moves combined, plus pound is pretty good B.) Jigglypuff has much better manuverbility in the air, along with a broken hit box on her back air. She also has much stronger smash attacks and better recovery. C.) Kirby is literally dead last in the tier list, while Jiggs is 5th. I know you're only supposed to tale the tier list with a grain of salt, but there's a reason they are 21 places a part.
That's horrible. Think of how the outcomes could've changed if it was a best of 5 set, as it was supposed to be. The fact that the competitors didn't even know makes it worse.
Despite this being the single closest match in Top 8, it will forever be illegitimized by the fact that they had no idea it was a Bo3, and therefore were not even thinking about stage selection. Hungrybox might even have been thinking that he could afford to lose that third round. Shame on Evo's management for not telling the competitors what the hell they were supposed to be doing, ON THE MAIN STAGE IN WINNERS FINALS.
Well at least he has a fan. The only time I ever heard a crowd chant for Hbox was when he played Leffen who is just a cocky ass and nobody likes. Even Armada, who rarely gets a chant despite being one of the best players due to foreign descent gets chants more than Hbox, an American. Hbox plays to win. He uses cheap tactics to do it but the result is what matters. The consequence is that not many people like him.
