I was having a really stupid argument on another comment thread for this video where XblackwookieX actually said: "You guys keep comparing the pro drivers..Who cares what they think. +Che1seabluesdrogba11 There is no denying Porsche makes some of the best driving cars. However I think publications like Evo and Motor Trend tend to hump on Porsche a bit excessively. There was no mention here of how the GT4 understeers, or the ridiculously tall gearing obviously designed to keep the GT4 in its place below the 911.

+Adam S (Dolby109) I have no problem with this allegedly high gearing. It just means that I enjoy using 2nd gear more than in some other cars. As to understeer, not perceptible by a normal swift road driver.

waremark A normal swift road driver could just get a normal Cayman, or a Miata. Understeer is still an undesirable trait, esp in a car of this caliber, and frankly bad among this crowd of cars. They pointed out all the shortcomings on everything else.

+john marsh Maybe it's because special cars require their owners to be a bit "special" lol - Basic Porsche's are for driver's - You could take a base Cayman add Sports exhaust and have a fantastic time on b roads and without getting arrested.. I mean the GT4 can do 90mph in second gear.. Call that fun?

MagicAyrtonforever That is what MT's comments were, and why it didn't win Best Drivers Car there. They were on a back-road, and just always stayed in second gear, never having to shift, so the Miata was more engaging due to its short ratios.

Saury Valerio I agree, every reviewer seems to absolutely love it, and as for the gt4, even tho its a great car, its tendencies to understeer and long gearing make it hard to place it in first position. And i find the lack of mx5 shocking as every reviewer seems to love it as well.

+Saury Valerio EVO are always spot on. Their (independent) review to the AMG GT was hugely positive, because it's a good car, but when you get it together with all the other top cars for a week of driving and it doesn't stand up, you can't really argue with them, can you?

+Malc180s considering the fact that Chris Harris said the complete apposite when they mentioned how you can't bond with the car yes I can make an argument. Chris Harris is the best car reviewer out there period

+Saury Valerio Chris Harris is great but he's not better than jethro at Evo. They're buddies and probably matched for driving abilities. Fact of the matter is that all of this is subjective. You'll notice that EVO and Chris have a lot of overlap. They even tapped the same race driver to consult on their car reviews. Not all the EVO reviewers or Motortrend reviewers or any magazine will have everyone agree even within their own magazine. They specifically mentioned that when talking about the Merc. So take it with a grain of salt. People have different preferences. It doesn't make EVO wrong about what they're saying it's just the opinion of the person speaking.

+mkelebay Some fair comments - and an interesting perception. The 675LT does start to move things forward - it's certainly the most exciting McLaren we've driven (on a par with the P1) and does blow your socks off when you drive it. I think that the 'special' feeling you talk about may come over years - when they've truly established themselves among the supercar hierarchy. It might take a while - but they're on the right track. +EVO Agreed, they are always moving forward, improving an already fantastic car, from the 12c to the 650s, to the 675 lt, i've never owned, nor driven one, so i'm only judging off reviews that i've watched, so my opinion isn't really of much value, but a lot of reviews emphasize the lack of passion from the engine, compared to a huracan, 911, 458, or any equivalent. The one thing which reviews always say i notice is how supple the ride is, and how the entire car just works together so well. It would be an absolute blast to drive any of these cars, and I think you guys did a good choice picking them, I don't think anyone can disagree that a day with one of these on those roads wouldn't be one of the best experiences of their lives. Is the 675 really P1 level exciting though? You know better than I, that's pretty interesting though!

+mkelebay Yeah I kinda find it same way. They make absolut stunning machines and have a mind blowing performance but there's nothing that makes me wanna have one of these. Love to drive one but it wouldn't give me that great feel when I'd look into my garage and see this in it...

Check out the NC500 route for Scotland, that's what they covered but the video shows mainly west coast side. I'd add the A887 and A87 to that route too if possible.

I loved the EVO coty 2013. I think that was their best video to date. You know what I think the difference was? We didn't get any in cabin shots of the reviewer driving the car. Everything was a voice over narration. I dunno why, but it felt like there was something missing without seeing Jethro in the cabin and speaking about the car while driving.

+Cars and Gaming Go to Motor Trend, they do nothing but numbers, like standing quarters and figure-of-eight G ratings to quantify 'handling'. In Gwarreds Real World, there's a happy medium between the two, but I find that Evos *opinion* on cars more closely matches my *opinion* on cars than Motor Trends does. I own a Ford Puma. I could sell it for a grand and buy a Clio 182, which would destroy it in a drag race, on track, G-limits, etc. But having driven a 182, I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't start chatting through the wheel or the seat of the pants till.....silly speeds. The older, slower, lower grip Puma will happily entertain you at sub-40mph speeds, has hugely communicative steering, 90% of it's torque from 1200-6500rpm, and is just more characterful. That, and it'll gently break traction at 70mph on a backroad in a way that most modern hot hatches....just don't seem to understand. Grip is everything these days, it seems. Objectively the Clio is the better car. Subjectively, the Puma stomps it on 90% of journeys where a stopwatch isn't involved. Horses for courses, my friend. Horses for courses. eCOTY isn't about objective numbers. It's far, far more about how the journey feels. Numbers really don't matter as much, hence why you have a Pug 208 GTi trading punches with £100k of supercar all day long.

+Bryan Latimer The Z06 is infamous for going to into limp mode. Why would you bring a car that will just cut power all of the time and grenade itself every other corner?

+Bryan Latimer Motor Trend had problems with the Z06, overheating etc. And the GT-R is an old car that clearly needs an update. Its still very capable but is in no league as these cars when it comes to driving thrill and rewarding experience.

There's no bias or otherwise - we have and do celebrate the best US cars when we can get hold of them. If you're a regular reader of the print mag and app, you'll be aware of this. Please refer to issue 206 - where a Z06 took on a 991 GT3 (a previous eCoty winner) and very nearly won. To quote: 'the Corvette mixes big, uncomplicated fun with a level of sophistication and raw speed that boggles the mind. It's a mighty and enthralling car...'. Perhaps you're confusing us with some other Euro titles - either way, evo does not discriminate and we're sorry you think that.

+jamie jay Sure it looks beautiful and all but there is no enthusiasm in my opinion. Everyone at EVO talks in one tone at all time and that tone is dull. I compared this video to the 2013 Car of the year video and the 2013 is so much better.
