Such a great set of matches, SFV never disappoints and never will disappoint, people these days don't wanna acknowledge the games existence deeply, fuck that shit. I'm glad there are many out there that are trying to keep SFV relevant in the FGC, you guys are true heroes for keeping it real.
The level of EVO Japan is so high since a lot of masters who don’t participate in competitions abroad are there that Tokido got eliminated so early and Daigo ran away even from entry.
Or maybe evo japan has a small prize pot compared to Capcom Cup and no pro pts so it's not worth for alot of ppl to travel to it. Its just like how there are killers all throughout Asia that dont go to EVO cause of the travel costs. If you arent sponsored, it's not easy participating abroad.
Punks face after that set with NL; not gonna lie, I was glad to see him make it. I know Yipes & Matrix are, especially if he's the last American rep. Ok, now to watch Top 8. 🙏
31:00 *Tokido:* No, he won't pull another throw. *Powell:* Well, as long as it works, I will keep doing it. This is the very case that illustrates one of the major issues in SFV, which is this guessing game.
@@69mickswagg The problem isn't that you can't reaction tech the throw. The problem is that the throws all leave you in ridiculous looping situations with terrible risk/reward trees. If you guess right and they're dashing up into jabs, you're still leaving them at +2 on block. If you guess right on a throw it's generally a reset to neutral. If you guess wrong on buttons, you eat a huge combo, corner carry, and maybe dizzy. If you guess wrong on a throw it's 130 dmg and right back to the loop. Dumb dumb dumb...
@@shaunmcisaac782 I know that. Making throws reactable means you know longer have to guess. You can play for the pressure only. Then it's just rely on your defense until you can either take your turn, jump out, nuetral jump, or reversal or whatever. It doesnt free you up completely. It shouldnt. If you got pushed to the corner, they deserve their advantage. But it would sure as hell make defense a lot easier knowing you dont have to guess throw, you can just react to it if needed. And I'm not talking about a slow ass grab any scrubb can tech. Just make it slow enough that the practiced and the talented can do it.
yaay! i love that amiable commentator (that many make fun of; sry i forgot his name... he's Asian looking). i like how well he relays what's happening and always makes things fun and interesting.
Didn't go because many others said they wouldn't, turned out they did. Going to a cinema in Tokyo for an anime movie meanwhile, said himself in a stream lel.
if those all japanese player or all asian sf5 and tekken player can go to evo US every year , 100% none of the americans and europians can make it to top 8 in any game , even the non main games like sfxtekken , mvc2 and others.
@@hungwucheung399 I don't really now. But since this event isn't part of the CPT (no points in play) and with a lot of pros not attending for that same reason, it's likely he simply decided to sit this one out.
@@babysealclub11 gachi just won that capcom cup prize pot, give the man a break. And these ppl have lives outside of the FGC, cant expect them to be at every tourney
