Baiting whiffs and fishing for counter hits is how footsies work in tekken. Footsies doesn't exclusively mean two ryu players poking each other with down+MK. Feel free to think top level tekken is boring, that is a valid opinion. That said, if you think this game is soulless because tournament players who just flew across the world to play to win with cash on the line choose to use the strongest characters, punish whiffs, and fish for counter hits, then i've got bad news for you about every other fighting game too. I just gotta ask why you're here watching footage of a game you heavily despise? I'm not in league of legends tournament vod comments talking about how trash the game is, I'm simply looking the other way. Block the channel, stop wasting your time on comments like this, and move on instead of wasting energy getting mad people like things you don't like. As for 2d characters, many characters you'll see in tournaments deal similar damage with rage and you get rage every round guaranteed. Seen HK Jr's heihachi, or titanthor feng? Insane damage output is a staple of the tekken series. It's not new to tekken 7, or exclusive to 2d guests, and it's tied to a resource for them. It's totally possible to lose bad enough with 2d to not get a bar until round 2 or worse, and until then you have to deal with subpar combo damage (or no launch punishes at all) all the while, relative to other characters who get to just launch you without worrying about having/using/wasting bars. They are absolutely still playing tekken, they just also have extra rules and conditions on top of everything you already need to know to play effectively. Picking these guys is an additional risk, it's not just free extra reward. You have to spend your meter wisely, not drop your shit, and still play highest-level tekken against the best players in the world who are likely playing easier characters with less restrictive tools. Even before these guys got nerfed hella times, drag/jin/jack/steve/leroy/fahk/lidia have all been more of a menace to tournament balance compared to them at their worst, especially steve and the season 3 pay2win versions of leroy/fahk, all of whom are tekken characters btw. From the 2d crowd, only geese even comes close. Geese has been and still is common in tournaments for sure, but this tournament didn't have 6 geese in top 8. Akuma is obviously insanely strong on paper, but each major region has only one top-level akuma, if any. EU has superakouma, KO has k2ro, PAK has atif... that's it pretty much. He's too hard for almost everyone, even at top level, to be consistent with, and too shitty if you take the easy way out and don't do the hard stuff that makes the character even good to begin with.

Now I've played Tekken since I was a runt, so spare me the basics explanation. The *LOL* scenario is irrelevant, because I don't play or care for that game. I've played much better Tekken games than the shitshow that is Tekken 7. You don't get to tell me what I can, or cannot complain about. As a fan of the franchise, I can 100% call out what I feel is a piss poor entry. Fans of 3D fighters don't simply get to *LOOK MUH OTHER WAY*, because their options are extremely limited on the market. Yes high level Tekken is a boring snoozefest to watch most of the time. I stand by that statement. No shit it was a problem in older Tekken titles, however; Tekken 6 had longer matches and more possibilities. TTT2 had way more interesting variables & TAGS even with some of the unbalanced shit. I watch Lil Majin, because I find his personality unoptimized playstyle more interesting, than 95% of dull as drying paint FGC mouth breathers. Especially with the boring Tekken competitive scene. "I've got bad news for you about every other fighting game." No you don't. What you said is loosely fundamental about high level play in almost any fighter, but it's a half truth at best. SF4 doesn't play like that at high level. It's still way more unpredictable in terms of combo and neutral decisions. DOA5 does not play like that. Hell even MKX is more interesting to guess with. Even with some of the BS in TTT2, players still had solid, reliable options to avoid a lot of it. Tekken 7 is mostly death combos, and block strings that players have to sit down and eat for the most part. Side step & back dashing are so unreliable it's a joke. Let's not forget the stupid AF hurtboxes on some chraracters. *They are absolutely still playing tekken, they just also have extra rules and conditions* 🤣 I'm sorry what? So in other words; they're playing a completely different game! I'm not going to sit down and call Scamco's trash design a good part of the game. Yeah when I boot Tekken, I don't remember being hyped for meters, projectile spam, hyper armor, FADCs, 2D jump attacks and Cross ups, and shitty movement to begin with. Last time I checked Tekken was supposed to be a 3D fighter. Characters like Alissa and Yoshimitsu have always been the exception, not the rule...and they still 100% play like Tekken characters. Even Crapcom had the foresight to make Tekken character mostly play like SF in the disaster that was SFxT IDGAF how many extra hoops players need to utilize, to make broken 2d characters OP, they still have no business being in this game imo. I'm hardly the only Tekken fan that feels that way. Most players play other games, so spare me the explanation on how SF and KOF play. I played SF4 for years, but I don't want to play SF in Tekken. I highly doubt it's because these characters are "too hard" for most of the core Tekken base. I believe most of them don't want to FADC, and cross up in bloody Tekken. I certainly speak for myself in that regard. When I want to play SF and KOF, I boot SF and KOF. Bro each to their own. If you want to get on your knees, and cons00m product with a smile, be my guest. However you don't get to dismiss people unhappy with the game, as "dissenters, or non-fans". Some of us like Tekken too, but we aren't going to thank Scamco for selling us dogshit on a plate. Maybe you should hop on Harada's twitter and enoucrage him to add more 2D in an already questionable looking Tekken 8. Perhaps Scamco will be gentle, when they're selling legacy characters and frame-data out of the box again. I mean Tekken 7 sold very well, so that 100% means these decisions are GOOD for the franchise long term!

I don't see many Zafina players. She's just in the limelight because of Ash otherwise I don't see Zafina winning big tournaments.
