The paint situation is tough. If you’re planning on keeping the car long term, then it may be worth another respray/drop it off for them to blend (because I know it’ll eat at you). If the car will eventually be sold, polish the adjacent panels to the best of your abilities. It’ll bring out the gloss and give the metallic a bit more pop. Call it good. Most people don’t notice slightly mismatched panels until they are shown.

Looks good with a wing never had the wing since I had the cf trunk on there but looks great man happy to see the car back alive miss that thing for sure

Can confirm with phantom black, you cannot just get away with painting individual parts. Painted my front bar also and it throws more purple under shade. You need to paint and blend as far back as possible to make it all conform.

In my opinion, I would try to detail the car first and after buffing it and all, see how it looks, fenders do look a little more faded also from the rock chips, overall man car looks amazing dude

I found your channel todaya and watched the whole Evo X playlist. I am really looking forward to the detailing episode.

I have OCD, too, but if I were you, I would leave it for now. The money spent on it can be directed to other more worthwhile things. I was seriously considering having some wheels refinished. They weren't horrible, but bad enough that they caught my eyes every time I looked at the car. I thought about it a little harder and realized they money I spent on the refinish is more worthwhile procuring OEM parts that are being discontinued.

Hello! Fine job once again, you are doing on the Evo. We know that you are perfectionist, so I perfectly understand the difference of color may be a negative point for you. I am not a specialist, but I would have some look and advices with coverings, maybe carbon look, what could give a little thing different, without being a first plan thing. But if some other parts could be carbon covered, it would be a plus.... such as mirrors... All I can say is that we deeply trust you, because what you'll choose and do, will be the best. Sorry to hear it happened like that, broham. I guess either get it wrapped for now then take it back later to get it repainted again (and possibly on a different shop, or do it yourself) OR take it back asap and have them correct what they did wrong.

Build is coming out great. I beeelieve those fogs are glass. I've owned 2 evos that the driver side cracked. $60 for a housing is a great price compared to what i've seen in the past.

You will never match black old paint and new.... unless you repaint the whole car. Best option is see what it's like once you have restored the old paint imo. Looks awesome for a daily 😎😎😎👍❤️

they are the same shape of normal lancers oddly, i have a nice set of flat ralliar Xb Morimoto currently but trying to figure out how to mount htem in the evox as its curved

Blending the paint is going to make the mismatch vanish but you're going to have to blend all over the car considering the new pieces aren't just in one area. at the very least you're blending into the fenders for the bumper. I'm unsure how you can blend the scoop into the hood without respraying the whole hood. For the wing you're blending into the trunk and rear quarter panels. Then you need to consider respraying the car for a little more money. I think you know that the answer is

fog lights do need 600 grit or may be more. you won't use them in this situation anyway so.

I would hate to touch things twice. But I think I would save and get the entire car re sprayed. I have the rally red and I think I'm gonna go that route.

You should try polishing, that’s what was happening with my PB Evo x. The old paints clear coat really sucks

Phantom black is one of the hardest colors to match other than the apex silver which my evo is but that being said its 12 year old paint vs new paint you can get it to match but extremely hard but in the videos it looks great can hardly tell but we know how you are I would just get the whole car sprayed also would paint the front grill oem black too unde the emblem

I’d say detail and paint correct the panel to enhance the clear coat and see. If you keeping the long term. Take it to a paint shop and do properly.

You need the car or a piece of the car with you when you paint match. They need to scan the car to get the paint match correctly. You cannot go off a paint code strictly

That's a tough one. If it was a daily, I'd probably just leave it as-is and put the money elsewhere? From what I've been told, 'panel painting' and matching is pretty much impossible, and there will always be a mismatch. The body shop basically has to 'feather' / blend the color in to get it to look right. On vacation this year, somebody backed into our 2014 FJ Cruiser (desert tan color). Being that it was factory paint and I loathe having any body work done, ever.....I became obsessed with trying to have the dent in the right front fender pulled back out, or then find a used fender instead, or then only having a new fender painted. After going to several professional body shops the answer was always the same - the dent couldn't be pulled, they couldn't just panel paint a new fender and mount it up, they'd have to cut in to the factory paint on the hood, a-pillar, and door. And, that even if I could find a used factory painted fender, it would be unlikely to match up either on a vehicle of its age. Any of those attempts they guarenteed would leave me dissatisfied with the end result. After hours of back and forth, I relented and just told them 'do what they needed to do'. Looked perfectin the end. Who knows how long it will last, but I suppose it does have a lifetime warranty on the work.

Evo looks amazing! Great job as always on taking care of every small detail. Looking forward to the actual Detailing video. And unfortunately the mismatched paint is noticeable on camera. For as picky and anal as you are (I'm the same way) and going over the top with your builds, I can see you redoing this to better blend the panels. I would really like to see you do a collab with Brian from Paint Society. See what his thoughts and recommendations are to perfect that issue you are having.
