I used to not like them without wing but as long as it has a little lip it's now my preferred look for an Evo haha. Although I do still have the factory boot/trunk with wing and may swap it back on sometime to change it up Also thanks
I love watching videos like this instead of "ive had xyz car for three weeks, heres my in depth opinion on this" not that it cant be done but you dont have the experience of someone living with that ride day in and day out and thats what i loved about this video, very well made sir
@@JacksonStrain I have been trying to get my hands one and any Evo too, 2004 Evo 7 GTA , was the last attempt to get one from the States and the owner back away and Here I'm my Country they are asking triple the price from the States. It's just been waiting game for me here.
@@most-hated-54 good luck man, im 16 and have a chevy cruze now but im gonna start a job soon so i can save up for this. Hard part isnt gonna be getting a job and saving up, its gonna be convincing my dad (who works for chevy) too let me get one lmao. good luck, hope you can get one buddy
@@antonym24 Well when you get to be 18 years old, then you could buy one 4 sure, my Stepdad never bought me a car. I just been waiting really and I'm looking to get a Automatic just because they are a bit cheaper to get and then you could just swap out the the transmission for a manual or an automatic, it's just anyone's preference.
Good channel mate,I’ve owned my Evo X GSR 8years and still going strong, needing some TLC and an overall full overhaul and a few new bolt ons on the goals list for 2021.Your videos help me a lot and getting more ideas and knowledge on the 4B11 platform which IMO is the best looking Evolution of them all.🤙🏾
Great vid! My m8 said to me the other day when I showed him a pic of my 10 " If you told me that came out last year I would believe you". The shape has aged so well.
I've had my 2008 MR since 2012, it had a couple of years off the road waiting for an engine rebuild but I've always daily driven it, it's had baby seats, boosters etc, and it's generally been a great family car. It's now back on the road, and other than the timing chain failure at 290,000km it's been virtually problem free. Best car I've ever owned by a long shot. (Although you're right about the exhaust manifold.)
@@JacksonStrain bro, I'm still on the original clutches, but I'm sure they could do with replacing- even though they haven't given me any problems yet. (Touch wood)
I’m coming up to ten years now for my 2011 it was built MAY 2011 purchased jan 2012 as a Ex demo with 5,990 k’s on the clock and proud to say it’s stock as a rock ...lol And yes the cheap plastics annoy me .
Just stumbled on your channel i've owned an '08 350z for about a year, always loved EVO's looking into buying a friend's next week this video was helpful.
@@JacksonStrain 350s are wonderful cars even for a daily man. The EVO would be the new DD and i do feel a sense of remorse selling my Z i’ll say, If after driving the EVO something changes I may end up with a Civic Type R in a few months. Never saw myself in a honda but those CTR’s are something else.
I bought one last weekend, just waiting for delivery. This video seems way more useful than any of the others that I have seen on the Evo X. No clickbait, just honest info and advice and it is giving me a lot of confidence in my purchase. Thanks mate!
Evo X is such a sick car, fr my fav all time. Def getting a job and saving up and praying i can get one for 20,000 (manual hopefully). just such a sick car, i dont even wanna mod it really, i just wanna own and drive one.
Looking at a 08 gsr 5 speed. 44k miles built bottom end apr head studs etc. puck clutch timing chain upgraded. 27k. Think I’m good to go with it? Never owned a evo so all new to me! Car makes 420 wheel on e85!
Thanks mate, I haven't owned an 8/9 but did look at a few 9s before buying the 10. I'm sure they're still great dailys as essentially it's still a sedan with usable boot and backseats. The ten does have a little more in the way of modern interior conveniences but it's not like they're they different
I fear buying one in 3-4 years. I mean most people aren’t going to maintain them like they should. So if I find one that’s got 30-65k miles on it and has had maybe 1 sst fluid flush, should I run away?
I wouldn't run away as the main thing is how it's been treated, if the car was always warmed before thrashing it and driven with sympathy when cold then it could he fine for years to come. Always allow for a potential sst rebuild or clutch replacement though as it will need to be done at some point but isn't the end of the world as a few workshops really know what they're doing with these
Haha I don't know anyone with a 9 unfortunately other than the stock one in the comparison but I'm sure I'll come across one soon and make a video on it
Not sure in QLD but in Victoria, your car is at least $40k. If not more. Thanks for the info, I will keep an eye on the parts that failed in your evo. Any particular sound when exh. Manifold & actuator failed?
Oh wow that's alot, I don't know of mine would sell for quite that much as it's a 2008 with 180,000kms but either way I won't be selling as there's nothing in that price range I'd prefer and would have to step up to the 70k range to get an R35 haha As for sound yes there was it made like a stuttering sound when going WOT. I'm not sure sure if that was the manifold or wga but for the Mani you can easily check by taking the heatshield off and inspecting with a light
The only symptom I noticed was the smell of exhaust in the car whenever the hammer was dropped. It didn't seem to affect the performance (as far as I could tell).
my elder brother in law stays in Sydney he told me he will search for a fresh evo with automatic transmission for me. I wish if i successfully visit Sydney i will meet with you , I promise 😉😇
I love my 2011 GSR. (USDM) I do not plan on selling mine. I'm going to keep it. I'm not far from putting mine in the shop for a bigger turbo, new manifold, cams, AMS DP and FMIC, and their 3" intake.. like..should see 500whp. That's all the power I will ever want. I just love being in the car.
Yeah when looking at what options there if selling and spending similar money there really isn't much I'd want besides another Evo haha, yours sounds like a great car man good luck with your build
Hey Bruh I meant to ask you for some Advice that's if you know where I could actually start to look for an Evo, if you know any, in the states, just wondering.
As the evos get older and mitsu looks more and more like it’s going to stop building cars in america…I wonder if it’s a good idea to buy one after I finish college in 3-4 years. I wonder about parts and also finding one with a properly maintained sst. I’m a prior Subaru STI owner and I know the previous owner determines how good that car will be for the next owner. I was so specific about how I maintained mine
I think they will definitely hold their value or continue to go up over time so buying is a good idea, parts can be found as lots of them built so many cars being parted out. As for the SST I'd buy one assuming youll have to rebuild it at some stage so budget around 5k usd and send it to Kozmic motorsports if in the U.S and then it eill last another 10+ years
@@JacksonStrain my buddy has a Evo x and thinks by the time I’m ready to buy little mechanical parts and seals and such will be impossible to find. I want an evo i just gotta wait till I complete my college degree lol
@@JacksonStrain Thanks for the reply. Currently i run on Ohlins DFV which is a beast in terms of grip, no bodyroll what so ever most evo x owners said this is the one that is good for both world: grip but comfy at the same time. So i starts wondering. Currently im running 265/35/18 together with this ohlins i found it on the rough side. Its all good on the normal road but when i found on potholes my kidney is rupturing like something. so what are your recommendations? What tire spec should i be running? or how many coilovers u have experience and how does it feel like, could u please give it a short quick review?
Hi yeah I've heard those ohlins are the best too, if they were comfy before you changed tyres then I'd say it's down to that. You could always adjust the coils to a softer setting when you're just cruising around and thr tighten them for hard driving. What size wheels are you running on that tyre and what tyres are they?
It's a hard choice, I'd drive one and see what you think after as maybe you'll decide yep I definitely want to sell my mustang to buy one or no I will save and get one someday but still like the mustang too much
@@JacksonStrain I would consider it if they still made the evo but I can’t see myself trading a new mustang with 5700 miles for a car at least 6 years old. That’s the only issue with trading it for one. I’d definitely have to just wait and get an evo for an additional car
Mine is nearly at 300,000km, and has been making 400hp and 550nm for around half that. The only major problem I've had was a timing chain failure at around 290,000km that could have been avoided if Mitsubishi had thought to program in a specific warning (instead of an exclamation mark in a triangle that told me that something needed attention, but not what exactly). Still, it was a good excuse to do a complete engine rebuild. I've been religious about servicing it every 10,000km, and I'd recommend changing the SST fluid every 30,000km, more often if you can afford it. Mine is a 2008 model, and it's still on its original clutches. Like Jackson says, look after it and it should look after you. Happy motoring!
@@JacksonStrain yeah, I've heard a lot of horror stories saying the clutch fails. I've heard to not go above a certain amount of torque and power on stock turbo and clutch...And also drive on SuperSport all the time. Is this true?
Hi yes best practices are to always drive in S-Sport, not drive too hard until the SST is warm and do regular services. The power and torque thing is correct but as the stock turbo can only make so much power I don't think you'll have to worry about that.
@@mistervicious8240 haha well it's insured for 40k so would have to be around that or higher. The prices of these in Australia have gone pretty crazy over the last year
@@JacksonStrain so, It has MT option as well? Cause there is 1 Car seller, who offered me Evo CJ and it's practically same as GSR. Can i had more insight for it? Or a Video?
@@wilsonchin5619 yes I have made a video showing the differences between an Evo X GSR and EVO X MR. if you go to my channel and then videos and select most viewed it will be near the top
@@wilsonchin5619 MR and Ralliart have the same transmission but that's their only shared part. MR and GSR are the same chassis, engine ect Just a different transmission and some trim differences
