Indie-emo (otherwise known as "midwest emo") is a term applied to bands that fused the elements of emocore with indie. Though this traces far back as 1991 with bands like Fuel, Greyhouse, and Dahlia Seed, it is widely accepted that the first true bands of the second wave of emo that brought upon the rise of indiemo were Sunny Day Real Estate and Cap'N Jazz. Over time, bands grew closer to indie rock than emocore yet still had the original sentiment in their lyrics and projection.
