7:28 You must have not watched the Defunctland video very thoroughly Dan, because if you did you would've known that sweaty college kids Pittsburgh don't take Becky out to the movies. They take her out to Kennywood again and ride the Old Mill/ Garfield's Nightmare, like their parents and grandparents before them. 😏 Also 3:33 I didn't expect Odie to be this well adorned in the chest area.👀
*Pittsburgh, but good. Philadelphia is like 7 hours’ drive away on the opposite side of PA. PA has a bunch of lowkey great theme parks, fwiw. Source: grew up in the middle part.
Speaking as part of a minority of people who actually liked the live-action Garfield movie as a kid, to the point where I had a plush of that version of the character, I would have ran screaming out of the building if somebody suggested I hug that Garfield on the couch.
I’m from Hong Kong The mall is just next to me. I remember taking photo on him. I love this Garfield because you can’t see any human part or fabric folds on him. The proportion is really cute. He is not too large and tall. Kids love it. I think he is about 150cm only.
So excited to see Silverwood get a mention here! It’s a big hit locally, and I’ve been there countless times. It helps to have a theme park nearby when I need a coaster hit between Disney trips. And the occasional appearances from Garfield are always a fun addition!
I was raised in the town Garfield was made in and there was a museum and at least seven businesses with Garfield as their mascot. But this is the first time I ever seen a Garfield mascot
As a little girl, I watched Garfield and Friends every Saturday morning! It was not Saturday morning without Garfield and my bowl of Froot Loops cereal! 📺🌞🥣🧡🖤🧡🖤🧡🖤
Gosh this reminds me of my aunt. She LOVED Garfield back in the 90s. Had an actual over weight orange cat named Garfield and all sorts of collectibles. Like, EVERYTHING was Garfield. I even remember her little Garfield ankle tattoo.
There’s actually a Garfield Dan didn’t talk about that a lot of people remember, and that is lasagna cat. Lasagna cat was basically acting out a comic and then after that, something happens, and all of that was done thanks to fatal farm, who worked on Comedy Central in the past. Lasagna cat had a bunch of videos uploaded on the same day which was January 14th in 2008. And again act out a comic, cue in laugh, then something happens. Every video ends with Jim Davis’ face being shown. Lasagna cat had been gone for 9 years until a teaser vid was shown in February 6th of 2017, which was indicating that lasagna cat was coming back. 3 days later, a vid was posted showing a phone number, and that phone number led to a voice message telling you to count how many times you had “fun” with a partner. And on February 23 in 2017 a new bunch of vids were shown including an hour long video about a guy observing the pipe strip from Garfield. Another instance was Jon on his hands walking around a hoop endlessly with people getting bored and leaving, with newspapers saying that the people liked it. But the last vid of the bunch was very important, it consisted of all the people that dialed the number and shared how many times they had “fun” with a partner, as the vid goes on, it gets extremely weird, but then on the time stamp 4:33:52 , Jon answers the door to himself to see him say he had “fun” with a partner two times, but the other Jon says Jon arbuckle zero and closes the door. We then cut to an older version of Jon looking at the window, seeing an irl version of garfield before walking away from the house. During his walk you can hear an interview with Jim Davis himself. He sees two figures drop off a briefcase, and in that briefcase was a taxidermy or stuffed version of garfield with fangs showing. It can even be seen floating In front of Jon a couple of seconds after. Jon then appears in a rocky ravine still walking and hearing Jim Davis, then a tribal garfield shows up running towards Jon before disappearing. That same tribal garfield reappears and Jon turns into worms with clothing still in tact. When the tribal garfield picks up the worms, we cut to a woman giving birth and of course speaking polish or Russian. She walks away from her birthed baby as it was revealed it was wearing a blue shirt with a cat watching over. The baby opens it’s eyes, and the screen goes orange. That vid was a representation of how the garfield comics have always been repetitive when it comes to comedy, and the videos that were made by fatal farm was proof of that. We don’t know if lasagna cat will return, but it left many people curious, while also scarring them for possibly the foreseeable future.
Something about the eyes on all these Garfields just makes them so creepy. The one with the wide eyes/without eyelids is my favorite one just for that reason. I watched the Defunctland video about the dark ride when it came out, and boy is that a STORY lol. I also recently discovered that Urban Outfitters sells a modern version of the suction cup Garfield that everyone stuck on their cars in the 80s/90s, so that’s a thing…
They actually just made a new Garfield costume for Nickelodeon Universe, and it looks like a cheaper version of the costume from Hong Kong. (This one 8:55) It's also really close to resembling the costume shown here: 9:56 but less cheap looking.
yeah the defunctland episode is not to be missed! (viewer discretion advised!!) never knew garfield was at silverwood! used to live in washington so saw ads for it all the time, but never had the chance to go out there. :( 15:40 definitely 'bootleg carnival/state fair toy vibes from *that* one, good god haha.
I remember that Garfield movie suit / statue thing from my childhood; it was scary as fuck, and the fact it didnt moved at all, it creeped me out even more
You would think that as someone from Indiana, I would have met Garfield by this point (Jim Davis is a fellow Hoosier) but I don’t think I have. But this video has alerted me that I might check out for a special Indy Fuel hockey theme night. There is a Garfield statue outside their stadium. By the way, the Indy Fuel’s mascot you see in the video is Nitro the Dragon and his official title is “The CEO of Mischief and Mayhem”.
I was hoping you’d bring up Lake Compounce! I went there several times when I was a kid. Don’t remember seeing a Garfield mascot around though. And “Jim Shultz from Peanuts?” It was created by Charles Shultz.
I saw Creepy Time Square Garfield, when I was in New York. I really thought it was a fever dream. The most terrifying thing about the Garfield comics was the spiders.
Yes, I ❤ garfield!! Especially the comics! I also love going to Silverwood too! But rn, they sadly don't have garfield and odie out anymore.. I have a picture with garfield though so that's fun! ❤❤ love the video!
Hey, so those costumes for the 1988 Garfield video was used for a United Feature Syndicate’s Macy’s Parade float in 1983-84, along with others :] I have no idea how I know this, I only found it by looking at the Garf balloon.
I just caught part of a “Last Man Standing” Halloween episode and I’m pretty sure they had the Kennywood Garfield costume in it. I’m not 100% definite if it was that one, but it looked really similar! It was intriguing to me, since they had one of the main characters wearing it and it wasn’t in the context of a theme park or anything. Also, your videos rock Dan!
I always manage to see your videos when I need a pick me up!!! thank you for always bringing a smile to my face and just genuinely making me happy!!! 🖤🖤🖤
My very tender hearted 1st grader needs you to know that he thinks the movie Garfield costume is cute and he would like to hug it. I think he's afraid that no one wanted to meet him.
I actually recall a Garfield mascot costume being at Marine World Africa USA in Vallejo, CA at one point, and I only remember it, because he was the costumed character I decided at 9 years old to face my irrational fear of them, and run up and hug the guy. xD; Sadly I was alone, so no one got a picture or anything, and I cannot recall what the costume looked like from memory, so I can't pinpoint which of these it was. ;-;
I love that Quinton Reviews is writing for other creators right now ☺️ dude needs a break from editing insanely long videos! I already watched his Defunctland assist... Has he done any others on Garfield recently?
