Hold on, my 6yo son loves watching me play homm3 in 2021, and I started it in college in early 2000s. Looks like the same happened in your family some 15 years ago?
@@Brixman Worst? Really? I bought it, should've gotten it from GOG.com cause of the expansions, i know now in hindsight, however... not even REMOTELY close to the worst you've seen. And yes, i know that by not knowing you at all.
My brother taught me how to play it and i was playing it everyday, it was awesome, he is now dead (he died at young age because of diabetes) and i sometimes think that he looks at me from heaven proud of me because i play fucking HEROES III
That's where the money is for video games right now. Mobile games are still on the rise with how advanced smart phones have become. It's only natural for them to tap into that market. We still have all time great in HOMM3 to fall back on for years and years to come.
Heroes 3 is always gonna be my favorite. Still play it to this day with friends, and make maps from time to time. But I also really enjoyed Heroes 5 tbh. Was also a great game
If they ever make Heroes 8, I hope the inspiration comes from Heroes 5. I loved the 3D version of the cities. The immersion in the world was amazing! Also loved all the gameplay systems and how every faction felt different!
@@Revenant89 I agree with heroes 6 being bad, but I like heroes 7 very much tho, it is a ressamblance of the heroes 5 and 3 mechanichs and gameplay imo. With the only downgrade ofcourse the city paintings, the 3d citys of heroes 5 were just epic
For me heroes 4 will be the best despite of its flaws. Made lots of memories with it playing with friends, the campaign story is really good and soundtrack is the best.
Yeah the soundtrack of Heroes 4 is still the best soundtrack for Heroes Serie, Heroes 3 is the best for gameplay and Heroes 5 is better than 3 but is more slow
For me the best of HOMM IV it was there was no pure strategy or race winner like in the previous. Sorcerer in I and II always has the biggest chance to win no matter what other race you choose and Castle in HOMM III you have to suck to loose if you choose them but in HOMM IV many people select Death because the think the Vampires are the best but the can be actually bitten by the Order or Life when you Crusades
@PietrasTV For me "evolution" was: 1) Heroes of Might and Magic 2 2) Heroes of Might and Magic 1 3) Heroes of Might and Magic 3 4) King's Bounty Legends 5) King's Bounty Armored Princess 6) King's Bounty Crossworlds For some reason the sequels after the above mentioned didn't really catch my attention. Maybe I'll play HoMaM 3 again. Haven't played it in a while.
Heroes3 is my favorite game of all time and the fact that a community still works on making new towns, balance changes, free multiplayer with a ranking systems, hotkeys to make your life easier, new maps templates for random games + much more( HOTA mod) is insane. I wouldnt be surprised if people still play in 100 years from now.
Homm 3 is the best of all might n magic series. No elaborate 3D just simple artwork with gritty n dark tones. Homm3 improvements are balances n new factions.
I started with H2 and really enjoyed 2, 3 , 4 and 5. my favorite is H5 tribes of the east. its the perfect heroes game for me. I love every faction design and their specialty, mechanics and hero skill system
Yeah I would like to know the sequel of homm5(eclipse 6)storyline it is very good, They literally made homm6(eclipse 2),homm7(eclipse 4) the prequel of homm5.What happened do demon sovereign, the dark messiah I want to know that story
@@annematthews1837 Well, this game has all you want. You can play it standard, you can download patches orvyou can even make patches yourself if you know ERM. You can play it balanced or unbalanced depending on the patches you use (Wog is my childhood). Sooo I can tell it is a game made for everyone.
Need to make sure homm4 gets a shout out. It could have been so immensely good given a bit more development time, but even so, the game ain't taint man. Also I believe the most immersive and invigorating music in all Homm games.
Best HOMM anyway. Many people like heroes 3 because it's the first they played and 4 was very different. I played IV first and I think it's much better than heroes III.
Agreed but you should clarify the fact that the graphics of homm4 were raw. For me, homm3 takes me to different place. Its a very magical game of mine childhood, when i heard the menu ost from it after years i legitamately cried. On second place is homm5, its just awesome to spin those city around, zoom, look and enjoy the good 3D graphix (for 2006 ofc!)
Unpopular opinion I guess, but I liked HOMM 4's art style. Old HOMM players will automatically feel that it is a different world than Enroth or Antagarich.
HoMM 5 ! I saw my mum playing it, and for 10 years im playing it. It is the better because it has the most epic battles and the music 😍. I wish i could play it online... with world of warcraft (wotlk) BEST GAMES EVER
Yeah 5 is still alive and they are still doing mods for it , I grew up playing 3 but I like more 5 for it’s atmosphere , I love playing it without music
@@CalciumChief Actually the first nail to the series's coffin came right after *HoMM3 Restoration of Earthia* . The developers planned to implement a new cyperpunk town called *Forge* in the *Armageddon's Blade* expansion. The idea of an advenced technology town with tanks and cyber zombies was so badly received by the player community that the developers even received death threats, therefore they eventually backed off and implemented *Conflux* instead (which they planned to implement in a later expansion anyway). Nevertheless they've never been their former selves. They released *Shadow of Death* (which didn't add much to the game tbh), then they released *HoMM4* which received very mixed feedback due to its radically innovative system and poor general outlook. Then they released two expansions (which didn't add much to the game tbh), and by that time the series was far from its former fame, and *3DO* was in deep shit and soon went bankrupt. They sold the title to *Ubisoft* which tried to revive the series. Their first attempt with *HoMM5* and its two expansions wasn't bad if you ask me, though they couldn't evoke the series's greatest era due to the different time and significantly changed consumer behavior. What came after (Homm6,7), hardly even worth a mention. Basically there were no more demand for turn based strategy games, and only a very small community played them no matter how they were...
@@ffarkasm I know about Forge, I was there. Seeing the concept art in video game magazines and all, but that was more of a nail in the coffin for 3DO (but far from the main one). IV was way too experimental at a time when they needed to play it safe and just made "III with better graphics". No matter how many people are now saying they loved it, they should've saved those wacky ideas (some really fun) for later (I did my best to help and bought VI and both expansions). Ubisoft's V wasn't mind-blowing, but it looked like a more-or-less return to form, but guess they got bored and got differnt studios to make VI and VII. And while I did enjoy playing the campaigns in both, there's like zero desired to go back to them.
HoMM is older than this. It began as "King's Bounty", which was the first ever attempt to simultaneously release a board game and computer game at the same time. Task Force Games & New World Computing. I worked at Task Force Games at the time and both playtested the board game and helped to release it. They wound up actually releasing about 9 months apart, so we didn't manage the "simultaneously release" that had been planned. For legal reasons, future versions of it made by NWC were called "Heroes of Might & Magic" but, really, HoMM1 was "King's Bounty II".
My era was Heroes 4. Never had chance to play any other Heroes series (only saw my brother played Heroes 3) But after seeing this, even if I had the chance to play other series, I would still pick Heroes 4 as my favorite. Contrary of everyone else's saying here, I do feel the graphics of Heroes 4 is really outstanding. And I don't like the 3D transformation from Heroes 5 onwards. They could have just sticked to the 2D gameplay only with better graphics
@@jeanmichel8919 Heroes 4 was a last ditch attempt from a company that was already on its way of collapse, and I would say they did a great job on it. I liked the unique ability for units to split off from the Hero.
I always used to play hom&m 3 with my uncle when i was 7 years old and I loved the game. Now that I moved to germany and my uncle still lives in brazil it isn't the same feeling anymore to play the game :( but we still go sometimes back to brazil to visit our family and me and my brother can play it with my uncle. This game is pure nostalgia to me...
Heroes 4 sucked in my opinion , sacrificing troops in castles for battle field enhancement and having to resurrect your heroes at the castles when they die
I remember playing Homm the first one on a Compaq Presario computer with a 91 Mhz processor. I was still but a 6 -7 years old kid. I got the feels watching this by reminiscing playing hotseat with my friends… Good times!
@@ChrissyParissi Ty. The bad thing is that she passed away one year ago after having fought her cancer. This game is important for me because it is a link between me and her.
The old and true players Know that heroes 2 is the only one, the réal beginning the heart of heroes saga. The other version are only more beautiful and more simple, but i like them specially 3 and 5
I get why everyone loves 3, its the one i fell in love with this game too. But ill never get the hate towards 4, i loved and played that one for so long.
Fırat Özbudak heroes go to prison , instead of dying, economy kinda sucked, maps sucked and I didn't like creature animation as well. Otherwise it was ok. Oh yeah... potion of immortality sucks
I didn't like the fact that we got less factions, some weird creature mixing on the same faction and that you had to choose which creatures you wanted, preventing you from ever getting the other. Apart from that it was an enjoyable game.
It's because HMM3 was so good. HMM4 had high expectations, and it ended up being worse. Every new game/movie must be better than predecessor, otherwise it's hated
@@jestemwlodzimierz , 6 was designed to be an online game with various unlocks. Ubisoft used it to try and set up there own steam like service. It did have one interesting feature in that you could convert a conquered town to your faction. That way your troops were always just your own faction. Beyond that, despite have different factions, heroes were too generic. Can't speak for 7 as I never knew it had come out. From what I have read, it is better that way.
@@dennisuerling899 7 is actually pretty decent after the latest patches. Sadly, the story is downgraded quite a lot from 6, which was actually fascinating from that point of view. And it also has fewer towns than 6. But otherwise, it's a great game on its own.
I liked 6, except that online and pay thing which was nightmare. But still the hacked offline version I played you could enjoy most stuff and the graphics and towns were great. The completely new faction and creatures were awesome too.
To be honest, I did not even know that there is so many Heroes games... I have only ever played Heroes of Might and Magic III. Got introduced to it in elementary school when we as kids would be playing it on a classroom computer. Pretty wonderful memories I must say! Then one day that one bright classmate brought HoMM IV. And something was just off about it, I didn't even gave it the chance to like it. So Heroes of Might and Magic III still remains to this day my one and only Heroes game that I have played. And in my country Croatia, as every year on Christmas is tradition to watch Home Alone movies, the same goes on the first day of January. So New Year, 1st of January there is always that one channel that plays Lord of the Rings trilogy! And after watching it, I always have strong desire to play Heroes III of course! Because of all the battles and everything... Ahhh what a bliss. Weather outside is gloomy, rainy and cold, everyone is resting from drinking on New Year eve and I am at home watching LOTR and after that playing Heroes III for houuuuurs! And that music composed by Paul Romero. Such a genius. Bring me back to childhood and elementary school, but also brings them both back to me!
I have been playing Heroes III for the last 20 years, an older friend made me discovered it. I use to play it with my brother, I downloaded it on all the computer I ever had and had play every single extension (official or not). This game has been with me in the good times and the bad times, literally is a part of my life. Thank you 3DO and New World Computing (RIP) for making such an amazing game. Please make another one like that for the huge worldwide fan base that still exist and continue playing 🙏 Vampire Lords are dope !!!
I recognize only heroes 3, 4 and 5. 3 - because the classics with a thoughtful setting and pleasant gameplay. 4 - for the best soundtracks. (+ they tried in 3d) 5 - for the normal introduction of 3D graphics and plot thought out.
Who still thinks that HOMM3 is the best. The only thing that I would add is after week passes all your monster buildings are sending troops to the castle. HOOM5 I think have that. I really liked that
HoMM 3, 4, 5 were the best ones, after they sold the rights to the game and it turned to might and magic: heroes, game became a disaster. Still play 3,4,5 to this day.
i care only for HoMM 1/2 and 3 and chronicles.. 4th is ok, but most of the time limited castle upgrade. I hate that. You had a bit more freedom in the early HoMM games.
I remember playing heroes of might and magic 3 in 2004 at the age of 7. I loved the game so much. Last time I played it was in 2010. Can't wait to play the 3D version 💪🏻
Homm3 is the only one you need. Still plays it, and my 4 year old loves to watch and play with me. Hopefully it will hang on with a new generation as well.
I started playing 3 and 4 when I first got my computer. 4 is my favorite due to heroes on the battlefield, free movement on battlefield, being able to choose different units while building your town and defense being easier with the towers. Tried playing 5 when it came out but left after 20 minutes. Building up a one man army is my favorite thing to do in the game
@@vincentmogy2434 it's a bit more than that. First of all, overall climate and graphical depiction of units and cities were a let down in 4. I liked some units designs, but when compared with beautiful 2D sprites of 3, 4 models were often looking bad. Also lack of as interesting campaigns as 3 had, completly new characters and new world also hurt a bit. Heroes 4 is still really good game, heck, it's still great Heroes game, it's just not as climitic as 3 was. Plus many people didn't enjoy mixing of some factions and more restrictive unit selwction to armies (Yes, choosing units on all lvls. Was cool, but it came at cost of less lvls of units
Heroes 3 and 5 has my absolute respect. Danse Macarbre was a good expansion. Heroes 7 has recently gotten my respect for combining the music so nicely from every previous game. And The amazing graphics are nice. Still dont like where UBI took it but heroes 7 was a definite upgrade from 6 6 was a bit reeeeeeee
I played 1 through 4, and I love all of them. The 1st one had introduced me to the series, and out of the first two it had some better looking units, more authentic and eeiry cities, and a different spell mechanics, it was a bit scary for me. The 2nd one, hands down, turned the first one into a fairytale. Cosy, hobbits-and-vampyres magic world. Nothing to add here. The 3d one made 2nd a movie. The movie I'd always find myself lost in. Charming. The 4th one was sooo refreshing. So many features, like spells broken down into factions, blocking the units from archers, flavor texts etc. Was a pure joy for me. But haters gonna hate, and now we are gonna have the same installments of the 3d one until the end of time. Thank you haters.
heroes 3 was my childhood i played it for years . i tried 5 and 6 as i got older but the graphics just made me dizzy lol so yeah..didn't know they made a hd one for 3 but that is the best decision
i would say heroes 5 is the best but because of the loding time of each turn makes it unplayeble after a while. heroes 3 is just the standered classical. it is amezing and it was what made heroes into heroes. but heroes 4 is the best, it was the game with the most potential and it is so sad that 3do went away for if that path had been reached it would been awesome, and ubisoft wouldn't fucked the whole thing into shit. im so sad that this is happening to this awesome game.
@@torbriansurdal1179 I found loading times to only be an issue when I played massive maps using RNG. Maybe your computer is just a bit slow? Back in the day I also played it on shitty Pentium 3 so it sure took a bit long.
@@torbriansurdal1179 try the mod "heroes 5.5" it makes loading times way faster and the ai much more smarter! It also greatly improves random map generation and allows you to play as campaign heroes and hire them in custom games and multiplayer too I think! Finally it completely rebalances the game creatures, abilities and even heroes have roles and skills and spells are rebalanced too!
damn heroes 1 brings back some nostalgia, I actually owned heroes 3 but wanted to play them in order so i didnt play it for year. Then being like holy fuck I should've just played heroes 3 first haha.
I only have HoMM 3 Complete and HoMM 4 Complete, but at least both games on physical discs. I just find HoMM 3 and the Heroes Chronicles series the best in the franchise thanks to good story telling, well made ui, awesome creature design, etc. Sure it has its bugs, but then again... doesn't every game have at least 1 bug? I never played HoMM 2, so I might be biased. But idc, I'm not really interested in the Heroes franchise anymore cuz' life.
Played every single HOMM and enjoy them all in different ways. 1 and 2 were the first games i ever got for computer when i was a kid on the families 3000 dollar shitty packard bell lol. Really hope they keep going and make an 8
I doubt it, since they screwed up HVI and HVII. I mean on both games the original dev company gotten bankrupt. Also doesn't help that a week after they released the expansion for HVII they stopped supporting the game. And the fan base is pretty devided, so they probably will never make a large part of the fanbase happy.
