IBM beat so many records, like the: - First portable computer - First PC with VGA port - First PC with attachable printer - First laptop with CD-ROM drive - First laptop with folded keyboard - First Operating System
First SSD disk based laptop was made by Psion in 1989. This Psion laptop was also first laptop with a touchpad (special pad used in modern laptops) used for PC's without mouse

@@AnkitRaj29008 lucky you I am still using my shitsperation from 2005 with windows xp and a whopping 512 mb of ram! And two cores on the processor with a 480 p screen
I see this video about the history of laptops on... my laptop, a Lenovo Yoga 9i. Pretty advanced! It has a touchscreen (that enables to use the laptop without a mouse most of the time), and you can fold the screen under the keyboard, and then it behaves like a tablet. It has a SSD of 1 TB which make this laptop pretty expensive. The pixels are so small that they aren't visible. The text has a very high quality. Although it is a very expensive, I love this laptop!
My first laptop was a hand-me-down Sony Vaio and it ran like shit. I remember in the 5th grade being shocked when my friend came with a small thin laptop on electronic day and played Minecraft. I currently own a late 2019 razer blade stealth with a gtx 1650 and I am still amazed at the performance of this machine since I have not owned a laptop since my first Vaio.
I own a new 2022 vaio and I would tell you, they have improved alot, it performs way better than my old hp spectre and my pc, I used to own a 2008 vaio which was also really slow and had like 2gb of ram, now my new vaio has 32 gb of ram and is very good for casual gaming or school use.
@@therobloxianstar4689 LOL! I have a more modern PC too but my dad loves his old one and still has it. It's mainly for work since it cannot run games XD. However compare it with the 80's and it's like an alien PC🤣🤣
I enjoyed the music the most; but nice flashback of when I didn’t know when they 1st existed on a couple of them and how each company or brand has gotten better with its products and continuously getting better…some of them😀😀
For those who are wondering the Osborne 1 is the first ever laptop: Actually guys, the answer is no the first true Laptops are the GRiD Compass and thats the worlds first laptop ever!. And the Osborne 1 just put the name laptop because it was portable.
The starting price of MP (Mac Portable from 1989) was a crazy 7,3 thousand dollars, the cheaper market joined the Apple PowerBook (1991), price was lowered to 2,5 thousand dollars, around 4,800$ less than predecessor.
I bought dell inspiron N5050 in 2011, It is still fine for watching videos . Now in 2021 I also bought h.p pavilion 15 gaming for heavy work and gaming.
I love laptops as well, and some of them nowadays have desktop specs. Mine is a 2019 model with a GTX 1660 Ti. It might not be the latest RTX card, but it's still pretty good for gaming in 1080p :-)
@@BenjyDale yeah, I have a few laptops, one with a gtx 1650 a ThinkPad l420 a ThinkPad t61p a ~2004 Dell Inspiron a old gateway netbook and some other 2010s laptops as well as a Compaq laptop from '98
IBM PC Convertible was released in 1986. It was first laptop that you can attach a printer (for 295$ in 1986, around 1000$ today). This technology of attaching printer is not used in today laptops.
Yay, I still have my Sony VAIO pro 13 and it's still running strong 9 years later. 4 years ago I slapped an SSD in it and now it's even faster than originally.
Laptops from 80's look like a toy, and realized how much technology evolved over the decades. And its designs also. However, just like smartphones design haven't changed last few years, laptops' design hadn't changed nuch since 2010...bendable laptops will be the next major design change in laptops.
I swear to fucking god who had the idea to put the trackpad on the left side its so painful and pointless since it is litterally getting blocked by your left arm when playing and even if its not, its still incredibly inconvenient to use 😡
No DG-One (from Data General)> That's a major omission since it was the first 24x80 screen that run MSDOS which I could did use in flight (and ran Flight Simulator).
First ThinkPad was released in 1992. The ThinkPad 700 was the first ThinkPad laptop, released by IBM. It was now owned by Lenovo. Then, in 1995, IBM released so famous ThinkPad 701 (known as butterfly by used mechanism that folds their keyboard).
I was going to replace my Graphics card (GTX-780ti) but found myself in the middle of the Crypto-Mining craze, and it was just before the prices of Laptops started to rise. I decided to get a Lenovo Legion 5 fitted with R7-4800H and a RTX 2060- (I supplied 2 SSDs & the OS) I figured if I was going to spend at least a thousand dollars, for more of a side-grade- if I could find any at all, I might as well get a Laptop. The only regret, I purchased the 3 year insurance, when i should have saved the money. Even with my research, I was still anxious about the purchase. The only good thing about the inflated prices of the Video Cards, is that it made me get this laptop. Even as it is getting older, I still love it.
