I think that Punch Out Wii really brought back the NES game's personality, which the SNES one really failed to bring back.

as a kid when i first fought this guy i wanted to beat mr sandman on the wii for the longest time and somehow i manage to beat him and got that cutscene to activate. it was one of the sweetest moments of my childhood

I never realized that Mr. Sandman winked in the Title Defense, I heard the ticking sound but I never noticed the wink, it's really cool they kept that little reference to the Mike Tyson battle from the NES game.

I'm a little disappointed how during the TD Sandman fight, you didn't do the full round of attacks after 2 knockdowns. The ending where he is wore out and you get the free 3 stars feels amazing to do.

I've played punch out for the Wii for years and I still take a few hits on sandman contender mode. I have no idea how I beat title defence sandman he is practically impossible. He wouldn't be too bad if he didn't have those winking uppercuts that I can't predict or dodge.

Was that the Rocky theme when Little Mac won in the original...?

I like how in the Arcade and NES version his gloves are yellow, while in the SNES and Wii version his gloves are green.

Mr Sandman’s AI in the Wii version is an ingenious design choice 2 quick overhead attacks and then a delayed version afterwards to catch most players too slow to react to the first two to dodge the third hit too early. After a new kind of attack, Sandman goes back to his overhead punch combo routine Sandman will strike fast but only once, then uses ANOTHER delayed attack as most players will still be conditioned to dodge upon seeing sandman move for an attack Finally. Sandman will do another overhead attack string. But he WONT delay his punches anymore, as at that point, players have realised Sandman usually includes a delayed strike in this overhead combo, “is it the third one? The 2nd one? It definitely wasn’t the first one since I still got hit by that….” And so some players would wait, until they realised sandman didn’t delay at all and they got gaslit into letting Sandman hit them with no punishment
