Twilight Princess was just as scary as Majora's Mask, with barely any of the light charming moments. It's like Nintendo heard "we want a mature Zelda" from fans and said "oh, so you're grown-ups now." The world is dark, the imagery is dark, and I'm surprised the ending wasn't also dark.
Imagine this for the ending of twilight princess. When midna destroys the mirror the twilight dimension slowly breaks apart as light consumes the darkness and life of the twili leaving midna alone crying in a endless white void unable to die forever alone with no escape or way to reverse breaking the mirror.
Well that's not necessarily true but I agree with you but Twilight Princess has at least some happy moments in it with the NPC's and the characters in the game but Majora's Mask just goes out of his way of being dark like the further you progress in Majora's Mask the more darker it gets and it just impact you in a creepy disturbing way of the events that happened in Majora's Mask Twilight Princess I would agree with you that it did try to be a little too dark sometimes with it acting is like a horror movie type of dark but Majora's Mask just goes out of his way of being dark the whole game and all the events in the game are dark except the ending
Twilight Princess have some light Charming moments between the NPC's but Majora's Mask doesn't have any of that it's just dark and depressing and all the NPC's are like oh we're going to die because of the Moon and all the other crazy events that goes on in Majora's Mask mainly including with death

EMMI is really terrifying because they are REALLY unpredictable whether you try to counter them (really a throws you off because since you do a kicking animation and the EMMI just jabs it’s spike through Samus.)
The most frightening part of Luigi's Mansion for me, was the intro of the first boss battle. That giant ghost baby screaming at my face, I always cover my eyes at that part!
The Terminal Corruption game over for Prime 3 is scary and all, but the real heart attack I got was from Prime 2's game over screen. Prime 2 is just the darkest Metroid game, and rightfully so.
The entire Tanetane mushroom trip in MOTHER 3 is just nightmare fuel imo Especially when a hallucination of Claus said something like this "Everyone's waiting for you, Lucas. Everyone's waiting to throw rocks at you, spit on you and make your life hell. Who's everyone? Everyone that you love"
I just want to point out how perfect Mercury steam did at making sure you’d be surprised by Experiment Z 57; you first see it in Dairon and don’t think much of it, it’s just being worked on; and once the X are released, you don’t think too much about out it; but once you hear the temperature is falling, you start to question what could be stopping it. I actually tried back tracking once I got the gravity suit and I wasn’t able to (by regular means) Great job Mercury Steam, I’m really excited to see what they do with the series going forward
Luigi's Mansion 3: The only things that scared me in that game is the giant fake spider (real spiders don't scare me unless they truly look like they can kill), the giant fish in the fridge, and jump scares out of nowhere. I'm highly susceptible to jump scares!
Also, we can’t forget the scary moment from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong’s Quest, of the king zing chase in Rambi Rumble! That nightmarish bee give me an nightmare!
I played the demo version of the new Metroid game to see if it was a good game to buy. I'm not saying that I disliked the demo, BUT THE ROBOTS SCARED ME TO DEATH
I remember playing pikmin 2 in front of my mother back in the day and when that scary liquid monster started to chase me and killing my pikmins she asked "is this a kid game?"
Not sure if it exactly counts as a Nintendo game, bit you could have put a very famous scary moment from Shin Megami Tensei 4 Apocalypse in this If you know, you know Also the Metroid Prime 1 and 2 game over screens too
honestly the bad ending to pikmin isn't scary or creepy it's just sad when you realize olimar is reborn as a pikmin and has to live out the rest of his life as one never to see his family again. now the prime 3 ending were you get corrupted? that nearly gave me a heart attack with samus screaming like that jesus christ and speaking of metroid dread may be the closest I'll ever get to playing a resident evil like game
