It's cool how Atlus handled the fake Igor. In the previous games Igor is shown as being both supportive and never wanting to interfere outside of providing the protagonists the ability to handle Personas. Meanwhile the fake Igor is pretty much an asshole in his personality with the way he words things. And of course looking back I am surprised I didn't notice the fake Igor changing the classic line of "Welcome to the Velvet Room" to "Welcome to MY Velvet Room"

Everything about P5 igor already gives out red flags

Persona 1, 2, 3, & 5's Velvet Rooms: *[can be considered actual rooms]* Persona 4: *VELVET VROOM*

I remember being creeped tf out when I first heard igors voice in p5, i was expecting his snarky/quirky old self and it was a slap to the face lmao

Igor: “This place exists between dream and reality, mind and matter” Literally every protagonist: *I like your funny words magic man!*

P1: velvet square P2: velvet circle P3: velvet elevator P4: velvet limo P5: velvet prison

Real igot will say "welcome to the velvet room" And the fake one say "welcome to my velvet room"

At least the other persona games don't have to deal with *INMATE*

Plot twist : Igor was the Persona series true protagonist

I love how when the real Igor introduced himself he says "my name is Igor... I am delighted to make your acquaintance" while the fake Igor say "I am Igor the master of this place remember it well" the small details

A lot of people point out how P3 through P5's Velvet Rooms all symbolize the type of journey that the protagonist of each game is going on. P3 is an elevator due to the protag's ascent of Tarturus, Persona 4 is a limo to symbolize the journey of moving through the fog to reach the truth, and P5 is a prison as a symbol of the the game's theme of freedom and rebellion. What I find clever though, is that P3 and P4's Velvet Rooms are both constantly moving, with the elevator constantly going up and the limo constantly driving forward, til they reach their destination, the end of the protag's journey. But with P5, it's the complete opposite; yeah it's a prison so of course why would it move? But it kinda takes on a double meaning when you compare it to 3 and 4's Velvet Rooms, which were welcoming and were always on some sort of path. Because of P5's Velvet Room being hijacked essentially and merged with Mementos, it's like the game is trying to tell us that something is off, something's not right. This was not the journey you were supposed to go on...thus it remains stationary, showing us that the protagonist simply cannot move on in his life until this thing that took over the Velvet Room is defeated. (and yes I know 1 and 2's are stationary also but those games were before they decided to use the Velvet Room to symbolize the game's different themes)

I played P5 first, I wonder how many people were immediately suspicious of ‘Igor’ because they’d played the previous games. I don’t know if I’d have just chalked it up to a new entry bringing a new voice actor. Even ‘welcome to MY velvet room’ is very subtle

I still can't believe that Yaldaboth gave away his identity by his welcoming of "MY Velvet Room". That right there, is the best planned dialogue of persona 5, among other things.

Igor is literally the G Man of the Persona series

As a newcomer who started with Persona 5, I did not realize that Igor's voice was supposed to be so different. I just thought that was what it actually was. Looking back, it was CLEARLY not a voice that matches his form.

My first persona game was P5 to hear “igors” voice for the first time I thought it was quite fitting for his design. But then the end game happened and I hear his “new” voice and was like wait what. Then I watched playthroughs of P4 & P3 and I was like oh, that’s how he’s always been. And then when I found out that his VA passed away after P4 I was like ah that makes sense. But now I’m wondering if they’re gonna find someone else to do a new voice similar to the original for P6 if it ever comes out.

Persona 1-2 velvet room- nothing much just a room with weird people inside. Persona 3-4 velvet room- alright a ride with a seeming less never ending journey. Just an old man and hot women and men assistants Ok I can deal with them. Persona 5 velvet room- Ok dont panic. I'm just in jail with a creepy old man and two sadistic twin girls, dear god I'm going to die.

I like how there is always a source for the music playing in the velvet room. For 1 and 2, Belladona and Nameless are playing it. In 3, it could be elevator music. In 4, the cars radio could be playing it. In 5, the speakers at the center could be playing it.

Imagine sleeping and suddenly you enter in the velvet room , i would be like: holy shit here is where I get my free _persona_ ?

As someone who's currently only played Persona 4 and 5, it never actually occurred to me that A: The Velvet Room was actually, you know, an actual velvet room at one point. and B: Said Velvet Room actually had a singer and pianist actually performing the theme. Classy.

I didn't realize the plot twist with Igor cause P5 was my first Persona game, anyways, I love going to the velvet room to hear Aria of the Soul, it's so mellow and calming. A great track to listen to while I do my business.

I can only imagine the veteran players surprise after hearing Igor's voice in p5

Wow, that's pretty cool. The first Shin Megami Tensei game has a somewhat different sounding Velvet Room theme. But 'Aria of the Soul' is so peaceful, knowing you're pretty much in a sanctuary or safe haven. Of course, with the exception of Persona 5. I really like Igor and how he serves as the mentor figure to the protagonist, being kind and helpful throughout their journey. By the way, do you own all the Persona games that have ever existed?

In p5, Igor seemed like he was rushing through the introductions in a dispassionate way so he could get to what he wanted to say (I know why he would have done it that way, I’m just not mentioning spoilers)

I just started on persona 5 for like a year now and i have a question what happened to the 3 other demons that Igor was with???

Kinda crazy how Igor went from something of a side character to replacing Philemon as the main fixture propelling the story

The velvet room’s forms in the modern trilogy acts as a stimulus. 3 it was an elevator that advanced towards a destination unvaryingly, as does Death. 4 has it in fog, representing what would happen when Truth was lost. 5 has it be a prison to showcase what would happen if Yaldabaoth won ( he may have trapped Igor but he needed to fool the attendants to get anything done, so it’s clear he has little actual power there.). All three show just what losing would cause to happen, and thus reminds the hero what they’re fighting for!

It’s nuts that my first exposure to igors voice was the P5 one...I heard the OG actor died though. Maybe Philemon will come back?

The velvet room doesn't evolve. It reflects the heart of the current person. Or it's being changed to it.

I like how in Persona 5 "Igor" outed himself pretty much immediately to anyone that was paying close enough attention (and had prior knowledge of the series).

How could we ignore the fact there are other people like Belladona, Nameless, and Demon Painter? They're now forever in my head and whenever I head the Velvet Room music, I will think of them in the background.. maybe they're playing from somewhere? BTW what does the Demon Painter do? I haven't played P1 and P2 but seen a few amounts of it in RU-vid

When I first played P5 and I heard Igor’s voice, I was confused. I asked myself why was he in a deeper tone compared to the last games? And he wasn’t doing his usual pose. He should have been there with his two hands together, resting on his chin. I knew at that moment...that’s not Igor.

Was I the only one immediately thrown off by Igor's voice changing in P5? Was I also the only one that got hyped after hearing the classic Igor towards the end? Just me?

Just transferred to Tokyo, been about a week. It’s been fun so far, but I’m still waiting to meet Igor in my sleep. He usually visits people a lot faster than a week.

I like how the protagonist of P5 spends 100hrs asking Igor and the twins who they are and your teammates meets them 1 and never talked nor mention them again

The P2 duology had the best aria of soul rendition. Love the soul

Persona 5 Royal was my first one, but I genuinely thought at first “This guy’s voice does not match his character.” I mean, I wasn’t wrong considering what happens but when I heard his real voice later on I did indeed chuckle since I was so used to the deep voice.

Ah damn, I wish you kept the original OST on for the Innocent Sin Velvet Room.

It's weird hearing Igor after watching Fate Zero and seeing how Caster was wouldn't be surprised if Igor was that crazy.

They did an excellent job with Igor's voice in P5. . P5 spoilers below . . . . . . P5R was the first game I've ever played in the series and from the moment I first heard his voice I thought it didn't match his appearance. Then the twist comes along and when I heard his actual voice it was much more in line with what I was expecting. I think it says something that they were able to pull off the same effect with a brand new player like myself as they did with veterans of the series.

Persona 5 was my first persona game, so I just assumed that’s what Igor sounded like until the real Igor was revealed.

Played 5 as my first ever Persona title to try. Too bad I didn’t play 3 to even notice Igor’s voice and play the other 3 Persona titles to notice Igor’s way with words, action, and setting.

So what im getting from this igor owned a club remodled it then took the elevator down to his limo that went over the speed limit so he got sent to jail. thats the connection that ties all the games together right ? and just to add more proof he says welcom to MY velvet room not your velvet room. they must have just let him be the warden for good behaviour XD

the velvet room sounds like a nightclub, but the idea of igor owning a nightclub terrifies me

P5 was my 2nd persona game first it was p5 strikers so when i played p5 royal and met "igor" i loved his deep voice so much that it bugged me that when the real igor returns he sounds so different

When you think about it, why is it called the Velvet Room? It’s Blue! Isn’t velvet more of a Redish Purple kinda color? why not call it the Cerulean Room?

I remember when people used to say "Last time I was here Igor still had a Bone Phone" when now I realize they should've been saying "Last time I was here Igor still had a Huge Tent" instead. XD

It still really bugs me, in the first two, Igor said Philemon was his master and set the room up for the player but after 2, Philemon has been MIA beyond his butterfly flying around the protags. Does that mean Igor is now operating independently to help the player or is P still at the helm in guiding the destiny of the various new wild cards, just in a more behind the scenes way?
