Weird voices, Disney is usually very strict about what their characters sound like. They usually have to sound exactly the same throughout. I never thought the Toystory characters translated well to costume, there was always a lack of a neck for me. Especially Jessie!
You got to believe it, Dan. I LOVE WOODY!!! *I LOVE TOY STORY!!!* I have had those characters, especially Woody, in my heart since I saw the first Toy Story. Woody is my absolute favorite CGI cowboy. He has the frigging willfulness, and everything that is wonderful, aside his pull string, to help *RIDE THE RANGE!!!* He is everything just for me.
"What proportions of Woody do you like?" 😂 Bo Peep's evolution would be cool to see because they have buggered up her look big time with some of her costumes, would love to see one on Stitch because some of his early looks were really....something, or the Evil Queen from Snow White. Never knew about the sepia tone costumes, that would be cool to see in the parks.
It could be fun to look at the evolution of the Green Army Soldiers too! From the plastic squares (or lack thereof) on the shoes, to the "fur" vs. face transition. Even the DCL Youth Activities & Walt Disney Theatre Show versions (Golden Mickeys & Toy Story the Musical) have some differences to the park & on ice versions!
Not Toy Story related but I'd love for you to talk about the Cinderella characters- especially the Tremaines and the Fairy Godmother! They have had a fascinating history with masks and drag!
I have an idea for a costume evolution, Disney Dan. How about you explain the history of the Mad Hatter character costume in Disney Parks and elsewhere?
I honestly don’t think any of the human toy story characters have translated well into meet and greet characters. Hell Jessie is straight up nightmare fuel.
This one sounds like a weird topic I’d love to learn more about: Figaro being a cat in Pinocchio but becoming Minnie’s cat which he still in in some cartoons. What kind of decision that was and if there was anything else’s from the movies that outlasted their movies.
I'd be kind of curious to see you make vids about costumes of characters that are quadrupeds in their movies. I always find it fascinating how they manage (or not) to translate these as costumes for people.
I feel like they never get the head and body to be correctly proportioned to the arms and legs, they're all around the same size but as a toy and in the movie, his body and head are much bigger than his limbs so you get this really... For lack of a better term *THICC* Woody instead of a decent one.
Fun Fact: When you hear Woody's voice in the parks it's not Tom Hanks! (I know it's insane) You might be asking then, well who is it? Well it's Tom's brother Jim Hanks!
My favorite movie character by far. Forrest Gump is a close number two and Captain John H. Miller my number three. (I just realized those are all Tom Hanks characters)
Why does the first woody look like the actor you showed us for the on ice part of the vid?! Like it looks like they modeled it off him being Woody before being woody
Is it true that the toys in the park would drop to the ground if someone yelled “Andy’s coming”? I’ve heard this before but haven’t been able to confirm it’s legitimacy…
I was thinking of topic. What Disney rides or characters were such bad ides that your glad they re gone or wish they would go? and what would you replace them with? Also, I want you to use those photos I sent you over face book like months ago. oh, and cover some non-Disney costumes
Disney Dan I Just Hope Disney Parks Do Meet And Greets With The Disney Characters Again Cause It Feels Like I’m Ready To Hug Them Again And Now Disney World Is Using A No Mask Policy So Say Prayers For Disney Parks Help Them Do Meet And Greets With The Characters Again Cause I Just Wanna Hug The Disney Characters Again Cause I’m A Loving Person Cause The Disney Characters Warm My Heart Cause I Have A Strong Love For The Disney Characters I Just Hope This COVID Pandemic Is Just About Over Cause It Sounds Like Everything Is Going Back To Normal
Well you know, Disney Dan, the 1999 Woody along with the 1999 Buzz had many face changes in the California Adventure commercials. To make it possible, they shot different takes of the Woody and Buzz character costumes and made different face helmets to give more expressions. One great example is the one where Buzz explores California Adventure. You should have mentioned that in this video.
I'm pretty sure it has something to do with him already having weird proportions because he's made of stuffing and cloth lol. Honestly regular mascot costumes just won't look as good unfortunately haha.
one of the rare occasions in Disney where the costume doesn't start off absolutely horrific. as for other character evolutions, i'd love to see a Captain Hook evolution someday!
"daddy Woody" oh my! for me, it was his jawline. it's too bulky most of the time. I really like the hong kong one. the intro and outro make me wish there was a disney dan doll, lol
"giant statues that challenge the face of God" while talking about a woody statue has to be the most powerful and yet the most hilarious thing I think I've ever heard.
Well I’m definitely still campaigning for a Barney the Dinosaur Evolution! Apparently the original Backyard Gang costume was like sandpaper to the touch. So kudos to any child who got to hug the purple nightmare when he did public appearances at Birthdays and schools, when he hadn’t hit the big times yet XD
I'd love to see a costume evolution on Jessie! I remember the first time I watched Toy Story 2 and was SO EXCITED to see such a cool character with my name-- actually SPELLED CORRECTLY lol She's one of my all-time favorites 🥺
I cosplay as Woody (For fun). When I go to Anime conventions with friends they all have their anime cosplays and I see all the many different franchised cosplays. When I walk out as Woody EVERYBODY goes nuts. It's also fun to get reactions when I'd be walking from the hotel to the convention center.
I'm so glad they revamped the Toy Story character costumes, they needed some serious TLC. And those old sepia toned costumes were super cool, I didn't know they did that!
I remember going to Toy Story on Ice as a kid. It’s hard to tell from the audience, but in the souvenir book you can see that the Woody prop Andy skates with in the “You’ve Got a Friend In Me” number in Act 1 has teeny tiny skate blades glued to the bottom of his cowboy boots. A ridiculously tiny detail they didn’t need to add, but it’s kind of hilarious they went the extra mile.
Just curious. Did Buzz & Woody have an argument when they were hiding from Sid ready to control The Claw on ice ? (Buzz: What’s gotten into you Sheriff I was.. Woody: You are the one that decide to climb into this.. Alien: Shhh.. The Claw! It moves!) And then did The Claw really caught one Alien saying I have been chosen.. Farewell my friends, I’m going to a better place on ice like in the actual film ? Sid sees Buzz’s face being hyper sleep and controlling The Claw again pulling him up, Woody grab his right leg, the back of Alien won’t let him fight The Claw and then Sid won the double prizes did he really say Let’s go home and play during end of the scene act 1?
I just watched the full video, Sid actually almost caught one Alien, so he chose Buzz instead and Woody still follows him. Yes! We can hear the same line when Sid takes Buzz & Woody out of the machine, Sid's new recording voice sounds a bit different and fucking scary. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i82TRglbbrA.html
I would love to see a video devoted to the interesting choices made by Disney on ice in general. I took my younger sister to High School Musical 2 on ice and we were not prepared for ice Zefron to suddenly rip his shirt off and skate past us during the musical number.
Wow! Woody's costumes were not that bad! Would really love to see a Sleeping Beauty evolution one day!! Will her dress be blue?pink? tall shoulder spikes? no shoulder spikes? Hahahaha that would really be interesting! 💓💙
I saw Toy Story on Ice for my 8th Birthday back in 2000, and I still have that book from it. I remember having a great time seeing the play with my parents and it still remains a fond memory, but looking back, I'm impressed that I never thought anything about Woody and Buzz looking creepy as masked characters. I guess it helps that I was only seeing them from a distance.
