This boi's more than just a reskin.
So this is Glacial Behemoth, the last Monster to be released and locked into the Stage 2 version of the game. More than a handful of people who watch my videos requested me to do some Glacial Behemoth rounds, so I have. The awkward thing is that in order to play him I have to uninstall Legacy and Install Stage 2 and then vice-versa. So I recorded a bunch of rounds the other day and I'll post them like one a batch.
He's a weird one because he's a Ranged Tank.. All of his abilities focus on ranged DoT and area denial. Rock Wall is replaced by Frozen Monolith which hurts Hunters in it's area and what I found to be the primary tool of his damage. It's a bit weird because he doesn't have a 4th ability, it's replaced by a ranged passive on his basic attacks so I tripped over what keys I was pressing in parts, nothing wrong with the playstyle though.
Lastly, I dislike Stage 2. As I've said elsewhere on the Channel, the atmosphere is just.. destroyed. It's now some intergalactic gameshow with announcers and shit. Evolve has a similar past to Left 4 Dead. When Evolve transitioned to Stage 2 a LOT of the atmosphere was lost from the original game. Legacy feels much more real and the gameplay matches that. You don't have light beams all over the map for buffs, and it wasn't like a televised sport. You felt alone in Legacy, which is what you are; alone on a planet with a huge monster lurking around that's growing as it feeds. You're under time pressure to kill it before it becomes too strong for you as a fully-trained Hunter to handle. Nobody is coming to save you, because you are the last line of defense. This was lost in Stage 2 with the introduction of the announcer talking all the time, lighter environments and Hunters being able (and incentivised) to just throw themselves at the Monster. It's a similar story to Left 4 Dead where the first game (TRS's L4D) was Horror based, but L4D2 became almost comical.
There are one or two improvements though I'll admit. Kraken is far easier to play because his camera is no longer saddled to his back, I have some Stage 2 Kraken gameplay coming soon to show this. There's also one of the coolest skins ever released in the game on my Stage 2 for Goliath, Kraken and Wraith which I also have footage of. Voodoo Goliath will be first up.
