I just realized that he's my favorite actor. In Moulan Rouge he had the smile that lit up the sky. He was incandescent and so real. Although I could never figure out why they didn't let him be handsome in Star Wars ( a good beard trim would do it ). But I love his energy! GOAT man!
This may have been the best interview yet. The chemistry was off the charts and he assimilated into the group with such ease that is seemed he was just another host. Great get!
O my I feel blessed today - I get to hear / not only just one but two of my favorite voices - - Hope life treats you all well ,Ewan, Jbateman,wArnettsHayes - Anytime you have a few minutes to hear a story- 😎🙏😇Pittsburgh tell Irvine I miss the random chances our paths crossed - Thanks Caters
Shallow Grave really knocked me out. Trainspotting is equal to or better than Pulp Fiction. 90's Star Wars movies had tons of classic big screen moments. those being the movies which get panned consistently. but the Obi Wan/Qui Gon/Darth Maul stuff for example, was fantastic. i watched all of that motorcycling show. legendary!
Ewan is an amazing artiste/performer/actor/comedian, as you all are.... to a degree ! Haha. Fun funny conversations with those who entertain us all and we admire as well. Peace and Love
Ewan's such a great guy, loved hearing all his stories. And he has so many amazing roles, after a full hour we're really only scratching the surface. Thanks for the enjoyable interview!
This was so awesome!!!! The 4 of you were terrific!!!! I watching Sean's interviews on Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson those are classics. Ewan McGregor was titled Craig's adopted brother on his interviews. I thought it would be great to have another very talented scot on the show, Craig Ferguson. I love your shows anyway so thank you for your gift to us.😀👍
In Ireland the only people who use golf karts are Americans tourists. It is seen as pretty pointless as, you know, it's supposed to be excercise. And if you used one, your mates would laugh at you.
I'm bummed that Velvet Goldmine, Moulin Rouge, Big Fish, and A Life Less Ordinary weren't discussed. In fact, Ewan was the one to mention Velvet Goldmine.
As a recovering heroin addict I can answer that in saying Trainspotting gives a strong voice to a story which people so often shy away from telling. Great film.
My Favourite. A cool thing I heard about Ewan (one of the many) is that he was instrumental to Christian Bale getting the role as Patrick Bateman in American Psycho. They offered it to Christian Bale and he said yes... this is my role, starts training, preparing but then Dicaprio comes around and of course Bale gets dropped (although not as far as Christian Bale was concerned cause he's still at it, pushing that iron and doin the psychological work ect) Dicaprio, after being attached for a while drops out himself to do a different film........Danny Boyles The Beach. The Beach's role was meant for Ewan but because of studio pressure (hello Titanic) it went a different (blonder American 'sure thing') way. (This caused a lot of strife for Ewan McGregor and Danny Boyles relationship apparently, according to Ewan) So weirdly enough the American psycho role is then offered to Ewan McGregor but instead of rubbing DiCaprio's nose in a role he wanted, Ewan doesn't take it. As far as I'm aware (according to Christian Bale) its because he receives a call from.... Christian Bale (go watch Velvet Goldmine)who asks him not to take it and of course he doesn't because he's a mensch. So finally slow coaches at the American Psycho studio realise what they've had the whole time, that Bale, now a fully fledged shredded pycho hasn't stopped working since day one and they go with the guy whose BEEN ready, the one it was meant for.
I adore this actor. It's funny to me that in some spaces in the world he is mainly known for Star wars. I haven't seen any Star wars movies, but I deeply loved so many of his films: Trainspotting obviously, Brassed off, Velvet goldmine, A life less ordinary, Big fish, I love you Philip Moriss. even his little part in Emma was awesome. I haven't seen much of his later stuff, but I want to! A true talent that's so fascinating to watch.
cool show! Ewan mcgregor has an open invite on our show, but make sure you call ahead first! I wanna make sure we have the kind of snacks you like. also, we have double the dudes! And the questions are smart lesser! Be prepared for mad puzzle skills! Not!
Will! My sentiments exactly on Shallow Grave!! I'm always looking for it on my streams to watch it again and can never find it! (for free. because I am cheap.)
I booked this big monthlong trip to Europe in 2020. Covid happened. I was debating whether to reschedule the whole trip again. I heard Ewans commercial. I rebooked the entire vacation again. Its not the things we didnt buy, its the places we didnt go.
I am late to the party- just started listening to your podcast recently after starting to watch your road show series (based on hearing about it from someone else), & now I'm the chic throwing her head back in laughter while I'm taking a walk in my neighborhood like a giggl-iac...soooo often. And one of the things I love the most is getting to enjoy your friendship and your enjoyment of each other! So sweet. so wholesome. (well, the love-- maybe not the language. 😆😆)
Obviously Dicaprios not the villain of the story below (capitalism is if any) and I fucking loved The Beach (Ewan also would have been great but he may not have done some of the things that he ended up doing if he'd done it which would have been a shame) Dicaprio is a great actor but sadly hes a big creepo now and thats my two cents.
I love SmartLess, I listen to it all the time. However you took it too far during your criticism of junkies. It wasn’t classy and it wasn’t funny. You guys are better than that and I expect more from. Shame, shame, shame
Wait, what's sean and Ewan's age difference? "Trainspotting" made sean want to "get into acting "? In my mind sean seems older, guess not. Great pod btw!
reboot idea: 6 days 7 nights. Starring Will Arnett as Harrison Ford, Jason Bateman as Anne Heche's character, and Sean Hayes (Why can't it be shawn?) is the plane and the island.
