CONTEXT: On 25 September 2024, a KHI C151 train (Set 065/066, unknown train run number) developed a fault during the AM peak hours (approx. 9am) while heading westbound and was detrained at Clementi. While heading back to Ulu Pandan Depot (UPD), a defective train axle box located at car 2065 A1/B1 dropped, causing the wheels to drop off the rails, bringing down certain track equipments, including the third rail and point machine. This caused a power fault that disrupted services between Jurong East and Bouna Vista, with shuttle train services commencing between Boon Lay and Jurong East, along with Bouna Vista and Queenstown at 5pm on the same day. On 30 September 2024, it was confirmed that the East-West Line would resume full operations on 1 October 2024 with speed restrictions (lasting for 3 days) along the westbound stretch between Dover and Clementi.
