As an Afghan, there are my questions: Who was behind the blitzkrieg takeover of provinces (by the Taliban) in the months leading to the collapse? Why didn't he leave his power to other Afghan rulers, when he was asked countless times, during the peace talk? (Given that he ran away later anyways and it would have helped the peace talk) Why didn't he allow the people to get armed and resist, despite countless calls from the people all over the Afghanistan? Is his humiliation (a doubtful assumption) more important than the humiliation that the people went through after his flight? Lastly, if he had stayed, chaos wouldn't have been as big during the collapse. He was just a coward with no power, hence no reason to stay.
From all i know, in my opinion, he cannot compare with the ukrainian president. He blame that he lost support of his peoples, but this is the result of being corrupt. The fact that president Zelenski have men and wemen wiling to fight by his side, tells a lot about this man. Another problem with his clameing is about that he left because he was concerned about his honor of not being humiliated (in his opinion it was the most important) and i was expect he to invoque the reason of saveing lifes of his defenders and the avoidance of bloodsheed, but he didnt. In the end it is visible how hard is for him to denie the afirmation abut his escapeing whith all those money, how he became inchoerent and to be honest, who would risk to take that incredible sum of money in a helicopter, in the bank accounts era?

@@Ass_of_Amalek Well, Trump did legitimize the Taliban as the leaders of Afghanistan when he agreed to excuse him from his meeting with the Taliban. There should have been far more uproar over it, but the world was distracted.
@@B_Bodziak I know. the trump administration withdrawal deal with the taliban was entirely a handover of the country to the taliban over the heads of the kabul government. the only condition for the withdrawal was that neither the taliban nor anybody else in afghanistan is allowed to attack the US now. the deal made no demands whatsoever regarding territorial ambitions, military aggression, human rights etc. from the taliban. and the deal was made at a time when the taliban were already winning even despite substantial NATO efforts, so at a point like that to tell the taliban "we're leaving if you just leave us alone, you can do whatever here in your country" obviously had to result in a taliban takeover, particularly after the kabul government was banned from the talks by the taliban as an open gesture of total disrespect (they said the reason was that the government had no legitimacy), and the US accepted that. I'm just somebody paying attention to news and I already knew that it was a handover as the deal was being worked out, so I find it really bizarre when people who should be international politics experts act like it wasn't clear, like the afghan republic could have had a chance. and I found it really disgusting when biden claimed that the taliban takeover happened because afghans opposing them weren't willing to fight, after afghan security forces had been getting killed at an average rate of 10 per day for the duration of the NATO occupation (70.000 in 20 years from a total population of 40 million, equivalent to california). the americans put the writing on the wall, and ultimately various people in power in afghanistan made deals with the taliban to not be on the obviously losing side (that's how most of the big cities fell without much fighting). the afghan security forces also had terrible supply levels (many units getting neither food nor ammunition or pay), and the fact that biden kept repeating that claim that there were 300.000 of them was just bizarre, since anybody who knew anything was saying that the real number was more like 100.000 or less, and that biden was mostly counting ghost soldiers that only ever existed on paper so that their superior officers could steal their fake salaries from the government. ultimately the US government said essentially "we expected the taliban takeover, just not this fast" - well guess what, everybody in afghanistan saw it coming too, and that's why it happened so fast, because many people prefer not to die for a lost cause! and the americans are the ones who decided that it was a lost cause, basically everybody else just took their work for it!

The fascinating thing here is the comments are full of opinions of those about a country and culture we have never lived nor experienced. My heart hurts for those who are oppressed and are unable to change it. Ukraine and Afghanistan are completely different places in history and support and military interests. Period.
The lens of our lives can never be removed, but there are plenty of people who have taken on another culture. There were a good amount of military and State officials who committed themselves to this task. It is not their fault they were ignored by Americans (and other nations) using "America First", transactional, short-term gains. That is a fault of letting the Executive have that much power, a 4yr term, trying to score points for an election, or to cement their legacy. The world knows it can wait out one of our presidencies. We have to debate the merits and make formal declarations through congress, but congress also has its faults that need to be cleared up to safeguard democracy. Lots of problems and one side has no real governing solutions.
Yes Afghanistan and Ukraine are two totally different situations. Can’t make an apples to apples comparison. Zelensky had a military that was willing to fight and loyal. The afghani military pretty much ran away. He had no military to stand and fight.
