After eight years flew by from 1st July 2010 - 30th June 2018, I thought they were gone for good, all off them scrapped to the wreckers and or if lucky maybe one or two sent down south to act as spares in other Suez contracts. But no. And this is one time when I will proudly say that I am glad to have been proved wrong. Oh. My. Gosh. WOW, just wow. Take a minute to breathe all of this information in people!!!! Two of our old contract recycling trucks (Superior Paks) are still alive and running, in Brisbane! :D They're just at a new home now, a bit further from Rocklea just over half an hour away over at the Northside at an industrial suburb known as Pinkenba.
As you may remember, 11 Months Ago I posted this video (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9qdSkPLu7kY.html) as on Thursday 28th November 2019 my school had a student-free-day so I took the advantage of being able to film and decided to go to Mt Gravatt to film 723 (not far from the ShowGrounds) as at the time I had wanted to get that truck on film. After about 15 minutes of capturing footage of it, literally out of no where came this big noisy white truck passing by and after a very quick glance of taking a look at the tailgate, I instantly knew it was one of our old fleet still up and running. I wasn't quite sure where it was heading, but after catching a glimpse of it I knew that I just had to go and try and trackdown where it was going! So we turned around and shortly after 5 minutes it headed back to the direction of the showgrounds and turned into the driveway so we followed it in wondering anxiously and in awe of what it might be going. The driver pulled up next to some fancy coloured looking bins and I figured that was his task what he was going to empty so I hopped out of the car and raced over.
In the end I had a great chat to the driver and he was very chill and very nice and after explaining what I do as a hobby & exchanging a few details, found out that way back he was originally one of the ex-Sita green single pass drivers from the contract beforehand (2002-2010) so that was pretty special to hear. I also asked him a range of questions about our previous fleet and he was also happy to let me jump inside of the cab to video and have a tour around (as all of which can be seen in the link above). Finally, just before he left I asked him where the depot address of which these some of the old trucks were stored at and he gave me that too; 1359 Kingsford Smith Dr, Pinkenba QLD 4008.
About time that almost a year later, I went over to the depot yard for another tour and visit, and let the video now speak for itself. The rest is history folks.
