The admission of a single person is inadequate, unless he is the PM of Japan. The Japanese government needs to admit the atrocities and genocide... and apologize to China... and pay reparations to the Chinese people
This incident may not be allowed to report in Japanese media. They do not want the young people to know how and all the cruel deeds their forefathers have done in the past to Chinese and all east Asian countries.
I wouldn’t use the word pathetic. The empire of Japan was completely different to what it is today. The overall people of Japan are respectful. What has happened is history, and the improvement is to move forward and make peace with each other.

They don't know about the human experiments, the comfort women, the genoc*des. This needs to be acknowledged, the war criminals who took part in these crimes were pardoned in Japan, they dont speak of it in a remorseful way. They were never punished, so why would they look back at their actions in shame? Those who did take part in it and feel shame wont dare speak up about it, not when they're being celebrated as brave soldiers. The true cruelty of the Japanese Imperalist Army is still unknown by many people even those who aren't east or south east asian, so let me tell you a small part of what the Japanese did. Do you know why we know humans are about 70% water? And why we know how much water percentage is in children? Because Japanese soldiers weighed their victims before drying them up via fire, and then they weighted the remains. This is only the tip of the abhorrent acts the Japanese did in world War 2. They disemboweled pregnant woman and then murdered the babies too. And none of this is acknowledged, Japanese society hasn't changed from their actions, they only hid them away and refuse to acknowledge them. Don't be deceived by Japan's media and good image, their society is still very bigoted and xenophobic, and Japanese imperialism is well and alive in Japanese society. They aren't respectful and ashamed, they're either ignorant or hide their bigotry.
