Exactly. He had the wedding band on (and I would guess there was no other wedding band at this point in time) when he proposed to Robyn on tv and it was very evident when he pulled the “string engagement ring” he gave to Robyn. I belive it’s also featured at Robyn and Kody’s wedding when they presented Robyn with her own Claddagh ring and the adults all put their hands together to show the rings. At this time it looked like Kody had a wedding band

You guys are wrong about Robyn’s perceptions from early on. Robyn deserves no mercy nor excuses. What she did was evil and wrong. Robyn knew that Kody didn’t give a rip about the three other wives. This douche guy literally abandoned his 9 months pregnant wife to go play kissie face with his much younger gold digging mistress Robyn! Robyn participated in the emotional mind games that Kody played. Kody dumped the three wives so he could jump in his sports car and drive hours to “wet his whistle” at Robyn’s home. Robyn didn’t give a rip that this idiot guy was leaving a 9 month pregnant woman alone so he could swap spit with her. She enjoyed it. She liked it. She encouraged it. She’s a greedy rotten liar. Plain and simple.

I’ll bet they laugh and mock Meri, Janelle and Christine behind closed doors. The first 3 wives gave too much to Kody, born out of an eternal religious commitment they believed in and made to the narcissistic Permed Wonder. They gave till there was literally nothing left to give. When they were at the picnic table, Kody said you (Robyn) made me promise you I wouldn't stick around and pretend if I didn't love you. Some have suggested this meant she knew he was out of love already with Meri at least. He melted down the wedding band with Meri around this time. She might have known. People think she saw the money and the TV show. She was poor before this. She talked about how she'd never even had a crib for her babies before. She was in debt when she came into the family. Kody always makes it sound like she's this innocent thing, she came with nothing, as if that makes her good, but she came as a massive financial drain on the family.

Meh. Meri is projecting. Kody was the one to hurt Meri. He was the one that hurt all of them and even after destroying the relationships he still has them mostly pitted against one another. Christine's story was tied up in that treatment as well, so the ring melting was equally her story to share.

I think it should end with Season 18. We learned that Kody broke his marriage covenant to Meri by melting down his wedding band without telling her during Season 1 when he was courting Robyn. All of the adults knew. All of the adults knew that they were a fake representation of 'functional' polygamy. All 3 OG wives have found their independence. I love following each of them on their own social media. They are awesome individuals. It is current. The kids are an emotional mess. Give them privacy to heal. I have no interest in Kody/Robyn anything. Polygamy is a prison and should be outlawed. FYI: In Canada, polygamy is illegal because of the devastation to the women and children.

@@BerryHair405they were investigated for polygamy because of the claims of underaged wives trafficking. The community of Bountiful had been trading girls with Utah for a long time. But the law isnt doing anything about the polygamists for polygamy's sake. Even though it is illegal. Winston Blackmore was put through the ringer because he has accepted a few teenagers as "wives". There is a rampant underground polygamy situation with the muslim community in Canada as well and nothing but crickets on that situation too.

Hi! So in episode two of season one when Kody and Robyn are on a date Kody is wearing a gold ring. It doesn’t mean it is the ring, however, Robyn said he wasn’t wearing a ring. He clearly was wearing a ring while they were courting.

I’m a believer in the puppet master theory. Kody is so into Robyn that she’s been able to become his mouthpiece. She feeds him phrases and buzz words to make him sound smart and like he’s a victim. In regards to Janelle siding with Christine....Kody expected Janelle AND her children to sit around and remain "loyal" to him while he lived full time with Robyn and was a parent to only her children. Janelle had every right to pick a relationship with Christine and her children because they were a true family. Meri, Janelle, and Christine were supposed to be happy and content with terrible treatment, basically his scraps, they were to watch him have a full and loving marriage with Robyn and do everything for her children and the other wives and kids were supposed to remain loyal while watching or accepting that behavior. As you go through the seasons you will see the horrible favoritism and it is so hard to watch. He tells one of his daughters that he will not go to her surgery because of COVID and he cannot leave his younger children. He didn't even want her to have a necessary surgery to correct her scoliosis but he was 100% involved and supportive of Dayton having surgery to fix his eye (not medically necessary, just for his looks). I could go on and on but just wanted to say that as you get through the seasons you will understand why Janelle chose Christine. And also Robyn lied about the wedding ring ...if you watch closely in the whole first part of the first season he IS wearing his wedding ring. They got the new claddagh ring because he melted down the other one

Kody intentionally set up impossible standards for the original three wives that he and Robyn knew they’d never be able to fulfill. The standards Kody created benefited Robyn only. The impossible standards gave Kody a reason to abandoned his responsibilities. As each wife failed to live up to Kody and Robyn’s impossible standards, Kody felt more self righteous and vindicated to do what he was doing… in his faithless narcissistic mind.

You really need to watch the last 3 seasons. Jenelle didn’t ‘pick’ Christine. Jenelle and Christine came together out of necessity and for the kids. Cody treated Jenelle’s sons and Christine’s kids absolutely terribly and the 2 ladies did the right thing and supported each other and their kids. Cody wasn’t be worshipped and his fragile ego couldn’t take that.

The Lds / Flds are in part based on the bible (besides the book of mormon etc) so even their sayings find their foundation in the bible and therefore back in the day people would say similar things.

the ring has been shown on Kodys finger in start of show, then it is gone. It was documented on the show by accident lol. and poor Meri, the catfisher wrote a book years ago talking about the ring being melted back I think in 2015/16. Robyn also says she was in the middle of things but at same time never knows what is up, something does not compute. I am not interested in a Kody n Robyn show.. no.

Did you catch Robyn lying about how she would have gone to Janelle and Christine's get-together when she's also said numerous times that it's not safe to be around the kids in those families? She didn't even invite Meri over all that time that she was claiming she ws close to Meri- even though Meri was isolating for covid and so she could visit with the family.

she lied when she said she would have spent Christmas with Janelle if they had been invited. They were invited. Janelle asked Kody if they would be coming by and he said NO. THAT was what started the big blowout fight they had, his refusal of her invitation. Robyn shot down Meri's plan to have a gathering at her house on Christmas EVe. They had been invited to celebrate Christmas with the rest of the family, and they said no.

What stood out to me is how narcissistic Cody is. He kept saying that Janelle was only attracted to his physique (like he thinks he is so good looking) and his muscles. How delusional. He, according to him, is too good looking to have been attracted to ay of the three first wives. I cannot believe that Janelle did not call him out on this.

For a long time I believed Robyn was sincere in the things she said...but after watching every episode of every season, especially in these last years, it has become clear that she is very manipulative. It's why she wanted to insert herself in the other wives' and even children's relationship with Kody as "translator," because then she can get the most inside info and be able to better manipulate everyone. She has a complex about being seen as a homewrecker, and she was very bothered that she was often rated as the least favorite wife (and Christine often the favorite, one of the reasons she particularly dislikes her). Everything she does on camera is to try to paint herself as good/innocent/victimized, but she knows a lot more than she claims, all her protestations of "I don't understand" and "I don't know" ring hollow. It's easy to catch her in lies if you watch closely. (For instance, she said he "wasn't wearing a wedding ring when I met him," but there are images of Kody wearing Meri's ring on early episodes of the show, and even on the episode where he proposed to her with a string ring...it's doubtful she was unaware of that.) Everyone in the show has their problems, and Kody is awful and likely a narcissist, but I think Robyn may be as well. I think they deserve each other!

Robyn says that the ring happened before she was in the picture because Kody wasn’t wearing a wedding ring when they were “courting”. We know this is a lie because he’s wearing a wedding ring holding hands with her. There’s several screen caps on the Internet. But I agree with you guys, we don’t know if that’s the ring in question. What we do know is that two women who want nothing to do with each other are corroborating facts in their separate stories. In a police interview, I’m going with the two who have no reason to back each other up over someone who wasn’t supposed to be privy to that info and can only give me vague answers.

Melissa, I love your point about Kody's use of word "LOVE" he's all over the place. You guys make fantastic points. I am too married to a man that grew up in polygamy. He was the 1st of his family to leave the GROUP. Some of his siblings are still in it, some are not have converted to LDS. He is from the AUB (Apostolic United Brethren) or the Allred group. Pretty sure Kody, Christine, Meri came from the same group, once the went public they were on their own.

It's frustrating he held all the wives accountable for the earlier years, and compares it to Robyn and his marriage. He uses it like a weapon. He had 3 wives in a 3 bedroom trailer with some kids. Robyn came in got her debt paid, fame, and a new build house with a nanny. He refuses to give empathy to anyone but Robyn.

I love your commentary. You two have a unique perspective. I checked 1st and 2nd episodes for a ring and though he doesn't always have a ring on, he does sometimes, and definitely when he is on a date with Robyn. What is shocking about him melting down the ring is what a fallacy Kody was presenting to the world about this happy, healthy normal family they were. Time and again Kody shows himself to be the weak link in the family.

When you look at the earlier clips he was wearing Meri's wedding band. He even was wearing it when he proposed to Robyn. There is an early tell all that TLC scrubbed that Meri and Kody were seeing a marriage counselor and Robyn attended. She inserted herself in each of the marriages and single handedly destroyed them. Kody always promised Meri he wanted to go through fertility treatments with Meri when she was having a difficult time getting pregnant that at the last minute he changed his mind. He always dangled a carrot in front of her, making her believe they were spiritually married as a couple. Plus the contract of TLC was confirmed and she was locked into the contract, so she had to stay in since they could sue her, Kody could retaliate etc. Kody wanted her to stay since Meri became financially independent. He wanted Meri's money same with Robyn. How do you think they live in that big expensive house. He is even ripping her off on the land at Coyote Pass. He did the same to Jeanelle. Meri has been so abused for so long and wish her happiness. She was the scapegoat and blamed for things that were blown out of proportion. I'm glad she can have her voice back

Why didn’t Kody seek a release from the church like Robyn said Christine had to do? In polygamy can men just dump the wives when they get tired of them?

Look into Kodys LLC Robyn made sure to devide it into 7 parts. 1 for each of her kids and herself leaving Kody with just 1/7 a %. Shes much smarter than him, and if she leaves he will have nothing 😂.

There are screenshots of Kody wearing the wedding ring while holding Robyn in his arms. It was in the first season. It was just a gold band.

Its interesting with Janelle having the least background (in regards to not being raised) with polygamy but Ive always felt she was best suited for it, out of all the adults. Shes not dramatic or needy, values the alone time, invests lots of hard work into supporting the family financially and was the only 1 standing up and saying "hey, if we dont do something about the distance between our relationships, we are not going to make it!" She also seemed super on board with the theology and remained committed to principles of the faith.

I think he still loves all of his wives/ex wives, he has just shut it off. When my first marriage ended I completely shut down my feelings and denied any kind of past connection because I knew that I would break down if I admitted I still had feelings for him. Kody is so prideful I don’t think he wants anyone to see how hard this is in him, or god forbid see him cry.

I actually agree with you, especially with Meri. I remember him talking about how he and Jannelle were such good friends, and he was close to Christine, too. None of their relationships were without problems, of course. However, that cruel streak has always been there and he became vicious. I think he is extremely angry that Meri, Jannelle and Christine left, and it's not only because he no longer has authority over them. Anger means hurt. They probably wouldn't have left if Robyn hadn't shown up, but he can't give up Robyn. Kody and Robyn have each met their match and it always looks like a small fire about to explode.

Kody: Robyn is a great communicator. She is "circling the donkey" Robyn: Kody tells me ALL THE TIME how he wants a relationship with Christine. Stop. Janelle. Stop. Meri. Stop. Kody: I'll never be in a relationship with Meri. I don't know why Meri stays. I never wanted to be married to Christine. I never loved her. Janelle and Christine are giving me a "big FU" by being friends. Robyn: I wanted to sit on a porch with all my sister wives watching our kids and grandkids playing. Kody: My song, "Losing My Religion" TLC: Broadcasting these abusive fraud shows is the reason why we were no longer named The Learning Channel. ETA: Kody thought he was going to die and wanted attention, YET, he let his younger children had to decide to play grownup and call their moms when Truly got legitimately sick under his care. Now Truly ALMOST DIED. Kody merely had another bad hair day.

So a quick note about the ring scandal, the catfish, who wrote a story about Meri and their relationship, actually released the story about the ring being melted down in their book. So that was actually released information back when the catfish released its book so it wasn’t Christine who told the story first so I think Meri is projecting her frustration her hurt and her anger onto Kristine instead of really projecting it towards who did the hurting, Kody and the Catfish

I find for some reason Robyn set her sights on Kody and the fame. The way she happened to be at the church where Kody went. It was all calculated and mythological planned out. She made her ex look bad, and he's not. That is next level, and Kody fell for her hook line and sinker, and well, he stopped worrying and the ones that loved him b4 any fame. See, she used him and caused him everything. Because I read she left her ex broke and she has a spending problem and her x is dying of cancer. Her kids' dad. What and how sad. Robyn is calculated

Robyn has been lying and manipulating from the beginning. She said she didn't Kody wept for joy but then said I tried to keep that fact quiet from the other wives. She made backhanded comments to Meri about infertility, to Christine about how old she was when she had Truely (6 years older than Robyn) and made comments about Janelles weight. Robyn and Kody were the mean girls. Kody wanted Janelle to come home from vacation to go to the store and get him some stuff and drop it at the door. He could order and have iy delivered from Amazon or some other place faster than she could get home. He video taped himself during his bout with covid with his 100° degree temp and sore gluteus maximus....what he said. He just wanted to ruin Christine and Janelle's vacation.

Remember when Kody reminded Robyn of their sacred covenant that if he stopped loving her, he would not keep her hanging on. Why was that part of the covenant? Unless this is just the typical covenant of plural marriage under their religion, a reasonable assumption is that Robyn knew Kody no longer loved one or more of his wives and she made him promise that he would not do that to her, i.e., keep her eternally tied to him even though he did not love her.

You might not know, but we all knew about the ring years ago. Meri told the person who catfished her and the catfisher included it in the book. Jody was wearing the ring on the show. He was wearing it when he was with Robyn.

Sam and Melissa, I'm worried in the next recap you're going to start with "I speak Robyn". Yes she's a liar! I also tried to give her the benefit of the doubt in beginning but once Robyn started belittling the kids(they were young teens)that was the last straw. Who gets mad at a 14yr old boy because he wasn't excited about her pregnancy announcement. Then when Solomon was born she still had negative feelings about Hunter! Yes she lied about the ring and Kody had it on the the first few episodes, you've watched enough to know she lied about xmas w/the boys. What she said to her kids about Thanksgiving season 16 sickens me. Please don't worry many of us misjudged Robyn initially but she's a snake.

Mari’s online affair person-released information on the ring a few years ago. Also, one of the ladies said he was wearing that ring Mari gave him when he married Robin. I saw a clip of it too. Mari is mad at Christine, but shouldn’t she be mad at Kody? I think the way they were raised doesn’t really allow them to blame the men for things so her anger went to Christine.

Robyn said that Kody didn't wear a wedding ring while they were courting. But people found screenshots of his wedding ring he's wearing while on dates with her. Then the wives got him a claddaugh ring when Kody and Robyn got married so it seems like the ring when they were dating was the ring from his and Meri's wedding.

I stopped watching on a consistent basis when Robyn came into the picture. When, he and Robyn railroaded Meri into a divorce and "legally " married Robyn for the "protection of her children" I saw the writing on the wall. I'm surprised this farce of a show lasted this long.

In season one episode two or three (I think) you can see the ring on Kody's finger when he was out with Robyn. She WAS already with him when he melted Meri's ring down NOT way before she entered his life.

The melting of the ring was when Robin was in the picture. Robin is lying because even if you watch from the first season, Cody is wearing the wedding band and Robin is saying that when she met Cody he wasn’t even wearing a wedding band. That’s a big lie. Look back on the first season when they were just dating and cording Cody is wearing that wedding band.

I haven’t watched Sister Wives in a long time. I saw a snippet on another podcast and couldn’t believe what I saw. So I had to binge watch this last season yesterday. I know! He continued to say I never loved any of you (first 3). Then I went back to season one episode one and he said he loved them. They were sweet with each other. It was interesting to see how different things were.

Kody was wearing a wedding ring in Season 1. He was literally wearing it when he proposed to Robyn. I can’t say for sure if it’s the ring Merri gave him but it’s not the claudagh ring. Robyn said in the tell all that he wasn’t wearing a ring when she met him but he’s wearing a ring in all of their courting episodes so…
