On multiple occasions Christine has said how hurt she felt because Robyn WOULD NOT let Christine watch her children. Christine tried to address it on the couch and Robyn's tone changes and says "Are you seriously going to bring that up now"! It was during the Vegas period, both in group settings, and just the two of them. I completely understand Robyn not letting Solomon go overnight out of town with Meri but never letting them across the street for a few hours doesn't make sense.

Even when they went on the Honeymoon she sent her kids to her parents house. She said it was because she didn't want to put more stress on the other wives... But you are combining a family! Why would you not want your kids to spend that time bonding with the others. I think Robyn "othered" her kids from the very start.

“What do you do with the positive memories?” That hit me hard. I wasn’t raised in polygamy or even fully in a high control religion, but I _was_ raised by an abusive mother. I’m an adult now and I’ve gone no-contact with my mother. The bad memories are hard, but sometimes the positive memories are worse. Sometimes she could be great; especially when I was very little. But interspersed with those happy memories are the bad ones. Those happy memories are part of the reason I didn’t go no-contact sooner, I thought that fun, loving mom was in there somewhere still. But after a while she stopped showing up and only the selfish, manipulative, hateful woman remained. My husband and my kid have only ever met the hateful version of my mother, so they are perplexed when I share positive stories of my childhood. So I’ve just stopped mentioning any of it.

I don't know if you need to hear this, but just in case: your whole experience, with all its complexities and nuances, is valid. You're entitled to look for happiness in your memories if that's what you want to do, just as you're entitled to look for pain. My mother has a similar relationship with her own mother's memory (she's been dead about a decade now), and I think it really helped her to accept that everything that happened happened, and all of it has a right to exist in her memories; the existence of good things doesn't invalidate the bad, and the existence of bad things doesn't invalidate the good.

When people divorce in monogamy, they can still choose to remember when they loved that person, and thought they were a lot different. I never understood why an estrangement meant you had to destroy pictures and the past that had ‘some’ value. Yet, I would never socialize with them after divorce.
@jewelgazer

It’s not all or nothing/black and white so it’s normal to be upset with the positive memories because it does not negate the bad ones. For me, the positive memories were SO confusing to me because it made me wonder if my loved one could possibly change when in reality it was an impossible dream. I truly understand what you are saying about positive memories and I have struggled with that as well - you are not alone!

I totally disagree with your statement. People speaking with historical accuracy is not offensive at all. Mariah was born female - hence feminine pronouns were used almost her entire life. Mariah changed her name to Leon and has asked for plural pronouns to be used. From that point forward, using the name Leon makes sense. Bossing people about pronoun use is just going too far. It's trying to control people's thoughts and speech. Not sure how far Leon wants to take things but hopefully Leon will forgo the faux penis. I've seen the before and after photos posted by gender clinics and they are NOT convincing. I feel badly for anyone opting for surgery but if they're an adult, they can do any fake looking surgeries they want.
@blk5124
@blk5124 9 месяцев назад
@@flyfamille5671I used to support transitioning without any questions. Having a kid who wants to be trans must make it even more important. I encourage you to look into ALL aspects of it. Watch videos of people happy with transitioning and those who regret it. Look at the gender clinics before and after photos (if they still have them up). Encourage your child to do thorough research. I think the trans people who actually stay happy about it are the adult trans people who "did their homework" - exhausting all resources. Maybe your kid is an adult who has already done all this? I am just reaching out in case they haven't. There seem to be a lot of kids who decide purely on emotions and don't research anything. They have worse outcomes and I hate for that to happen to people when it's easy to do research.

Meri's house would also be co-owned by Kody since they were still legally married at this point. She technically only had rights to half of the equity. The single child was also going to cause a lot less wear and tear. In that sense, it is fair for it to be somewhat fancier than the others.

Meri didn’t roll out the welcome wagon to Janelle because her and Kody decided behind Meri’s back on flirty lunch dates, that Janelle wanted to get married on Meris birthdays. As her ex sister in law, she should have known when Meris birthday was. Janelle has also admitted to have felt she needed to be married to Kody while she was still married to Meris brother and Kody and Meri were courting. (This has come out during recent interviews). Janelle came into the mix being very passive aggressive and has cried crocodile tears for 30 years that meri was upset and wanted the kitchen not be left a mess over night and wanted Janelle to clean up after her self instead of expecting Meri to do it. Sure. Meri didn’t keep sweet enough but Janelle was not blameless in the kitchen drama.

Thanks for your openness to discuss this topic and your care for humanity. What if we look at one huge theme that permeates most of these connections? Would that show how we can all relate and grow? A recurrent and yet unspoken theme here is the rigor and rigidity demanded to sustain love that most people crave and that very few find. We see repeatedly in these rituals how harsh demands leave folks vulnerable to conditional love that requires religious demands of imperfect humans. What about God’s Grace? What about our amazing gift of God as love at creation? What about the tangible reality of agape love deep within us all? What if we rest in the divine gift of a God who does not love us because we are good but a grace-giving God who helps us to be good because He loves us. This unearned love has less to do with religion and more to do with relationship of a magnificent God who IS LOVE!

I know this is an old video, but I just wanted to share some of my thoughts. I can really appreciate what you said, Sam, about respecting others beliefs and I empathize with what you mean, however I have to disagree. What I mean by that is, I think it's fundamentally important to respect people regardless of their beliefs, but the beliefs themselves do not deserve automatic respect. I say that because we know that there are beliefs that are used to oppress people, beliefs that are dangerous, beliefs that exploit and abuse. Leaders of those beliefs know what they do and we can't allow them respect for abuse just because they justify it as religious or spiritual. That being said, people in these beliefs deserve respect. Many times they are born into these beliefs and don't have the resources to leave, as you've mentioned. All people should be treated with respect. The distinction here is where we give respect; the people who believe or the beliefs themselves. I align with the former.

I would just politely say that when you say "especially the women, BUT" to please remember that a but in that sentence serves to negate the first part of it. Terrible things can have good moments, and I'm glad for you that it wasn't traumatic, but I think your framing here is a bit dangerous.

I suspect Robyn‘s kids might live polygamy, I can’t remember when exactly this was but it was in the earlier seasons and they all talked about the kids having a choice but Robyn said she of course we want them to live it. Her kids seem to be more sheltered even from their own siblings with different views. Also, thank you for referring to meri’s child respectfully in this video.

I think having a smaller house near all the bigger homes would have been harmful to the property value of the other homes. Plus, legally Meri's home was also Kody's. I don't think it is fair to not get the same opportunity to build equity in a home as the other wives just because she had fewer children, and Kody also probably wanted to have that same opportunity to build equity. It's risky to just assume that if the other wives were to leave, they would just hand over 4/5 of their home sale proceeds to the other wives and Kody. BUT- the money for everyday expenses, like groceries, should have been split amongst the number of people in the family. Less grocery , gas, and clothing money for Meri's house, more for Janelle, Christine, and Robyn's houses.

The builder only had 3 floor plans and they all had the same square footage. Meri paid for her overages out of her own pocket and if she wasn’t deserving of the same assets as the others due to her infertility, she would have not been able to build in that cul de sac and would have had to live in a different neighborhood then the rest of the family.

I feel that the option for the kids talk maybe back fired. Cause I think they wanted that for tv didn’t want everyone thinking people are forced to live polyamory. But I also think Christine and Janelle really wanted them to have a choice. Robyn seems more to push the kids not sure what season it was on for sure.

well, Mary was the one who was earning more than any other wife and succeeding more than any other wife throughout all the years she put in equal amount of money for one child as other wives put in for six children. Therefore, if she wants a bigger house she can get it because while everybody's putting money to feed their own six children individually, she's putting in the same amount of money they are just to feed one. Actually, she put in more because all of their money went into the family account, whether you made 50,000 or 100,000 you're 100,000 is gonna go in and he's going to get used so she put in more money and only had one child. She deserves it and also manipulated her into divorcing. She definitely deserves it.

The church founded by Emma Smith and her kids who stayed behind when Brigham Young left), so I always thought that tour guide belonged to them. I think they used to say that Joseph Smith didn’t practice polygamy. I think they now admit they do (not sure on that). Or maybe if he’s LDS he’s remnant? I think they deny polygamy too

I agree on the Kingston's, but they were also purposefully abused because it was considered the fastest way to get kids to comply, and were raised by effectively single mothers who worked all day. The FLDS has the advantage of mothers living together and not working FT so they have more time and energy to devote to the kids. It's really sad, but Kingston mom's are taught to hit toddlers to get compliance.
