Since its entry into service at Puffing Billy in December 2019, Beyer Garratt Locomotive NGG/16 129 has operated to the terminus of Gembrook many times, but only a handful of times on the regular Gembrook Service, normally a roster for NA class locomotives.
762 Media was finally able to cover the 70 ton locomotive strutting its stuff on Sunday June 11th 2023, when the engine was rostered on for the Gembrook service over the Kings Birthday Long Weekend.
Along with seeing it at a number of scenic locations we'll also cover the shunting operations, something not normally filmed by Railfans.
This 30 minute long video covers a regular service to Gembrook and return in full, but with much bigger and louder motive power
Enjoy!

How was the Regauging from 610mm ( 2 foot) SAR to 762mm (2ft. 6in.) achieved? Complete rebuilding of frames, axles etc, or just the axles? 6 inches difference is too much to just widen wheel rims. Question from Queenland, 1067mm Aficionado.

It was completely dismantled and new axles and frame stretchers were made to the new specs. New engine unit tanks as well. The boiler is brand new however the original boiler is now on Welsh Highland loco 130. I think there was more work done to it but that’s off the top of my head. Cheers

Thank you...quite an extensive rebuild. The result is spectacular. Shows what dedicated volunteer and special workshop work can do. Now we need to build a completely new CC19 for Queensland ( 2-8-2 with 19 " cylinders, Express Loco in 1067mm...never match EAR Class 59 or SAR class GMA. ( axle load and clearance gauge considerations!!!.)
