Buying and working on inop army stuff is a choose your own adventure, you never know what you will encounter and which creative ways these guys have found to F** things up!
I think it's safe to say Clint everybody love's junk to gem restores. We all love time lapse portions too. You guys are good at it. But, we also love to see the process of cleaning and making new all the parts from sandblast to paint. As well as the repairs. Love you and Kevin at it. Kevin's antics behind and on camera are fun too.
I bought a 644h from the army with 25 hours on the loader, it was a will not start will not run, I got the machine home and let’s just say it was a little critter that had some wires for lunch in the cab, about 15 dollars in wire and a couple of hours labor and it was running like a top. Good luck on the d6 I hope it’s not to bad, great video and keep them coming.
This is going to get interesting. I know the right guys are working on the CAT, it will get done right when it does get finished. Its starting to look like a whole lot of little, (not cheap), gremlins are at work. Thanks for the video, enjoyed watching.
Here in Medaryville Indiana, there is NOTHING here, except for a Dollar general store, and THATS IT!! we’re about an hour south of Michigan City IN on US-421, the closest Walmart or Kroger is an hour away, but you’ll pass six Dollar Generals before you get to any one of them.
Back in the late 80's picked up a used army K5 blazer. SNAFU must have been the norm because someone left the air cleaner lose and a family of mice moved in. Long story short, every cylinder was packed solid with mouse house materials. After a total rebuild, new wire harness, new fuel tank, hoses, belts, tires, etc.,etc., etc., she ran like a dream. She had a whopping 63,800 miles on her. Sold her to a buddy, he drove it as a daily driver for well over 20 years. He still owns her, she's parked in his shop collecting dust these days. Tried to buy her back but he isn't letting her go. She now has over 300K miles on the meter. Starts and runs like brand new. Should have never sold her!
as I'm captivated by vehicle repair videos what's evermore apparent is the NEED for reading/research/learning for each specific application. Some research is more involved than other. Moral of the story: learning is ongoing and eternal If school teaches you anything it's HOW TO LEARN. The chapter: "Theory of Operation" must be digested as needed.
If it's a mistake, I'm bettin' you can fix it cheaper than most. I've witnessed this model of D6R in serious action. Cripes was that thing a beast and a half. Made a normal D6 look like a pansy. Do your best & I bet it turns out. Thanx.
Kevin is a great guy but I do believe if he had any sense he took it out years ago and spent it. One day my wife and I will stop in and see you guy's. Love the show
Now Kevin you know both sides of a GM tailgate are heated. The inside to keep your backside warm while you wait for a wrecker, and the outside to keep your hands warm while you push. 😂😂😂
I live in the northern part of south Texas in a small city of 9K people. We actually have 2 DGs in town and they are located no less than one mile apart. So, I understand your DG comment. I don't get it either. LOL
I seen a guy cut a hole in a fuel tank to clean it out, hmm, who was that? Them pesky mice. Buddy had one eat up a bunch of wires on his ATV. What a mess.
Correct me if wrong please. Seems like army/low hours=repairs. 03:50 in case of emergency call case😂. We call that hema. ( hollandse eenheidsprijzen maatschappij amsterdam) Do you know where the chinese got their one seize fits all from? Us. One prize for a lot of different stuff. Like one prize fits all😂. Dit the connections get hot or wrong fluid.
Being in the repair industry, a customer drops off a foreign engine says it doesn't start AND LEAVES. OK, get a service manual, and it states - USE A KNOWN GOOD UNIT 😮. After ➡️'SEVERAL' ⬅️ known GOOD ELECTRONIC units, the engine started & ran 🎉. Now, was it the last GOOD unit or a combination of GOOD units 😮🫤 YOUR CHOICE 🤷 😊
Hey guys. I assume it's been a while since this was filmed. In any case, another youtuber, Adept Ape, is extremely kowledgeable on cat engine troubleshooting.
Doesn't the Army train their operators and mechanics on these machines? I know when I was in the Navy I attended A&C schools for my rating but when I got assigned to a ship did totally different projects that I had no training for. That was back in the Vietnam Era
You have some balls taking this stuff on but it makes for very interesting content. I hope the military look after the American nation better than they treat taxpayers equipment. I can’t believe how lucky Kevin is playing around with his boss making fun videos about earthmoving equipment. That is not a hard job however you look at it. You mentioned Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson. I was thinking of Laurel and Hardy more like. Thanks guys, from London UK
Have you guys ever used WD-40 as starting fluid? One place I worked, we used it when our forklifts ran out of fuel. Boss called it "Kerosene in a can".
