What are you going to charge the officer with because I can watch you die and legally do it. Officers are not legally obligated to save your life. Policing is strictly voluntarily. This segment didn't prove anything. Lack of training and communication seem to be the main issue that resulted in the officers being told to stand down.

Police are legally NOT required to or responsible for protecting citizens, based on case law precedent. Police in America are the equivalent of the occupying British troops in the American Colonies. Their main task is revenue generation, not public safety.

It's funny you say this. 1. This isn't the only shooting in America, police have saved countless lives at mass shootings so lets not act like this is the only shooting that has ever happened. 2. Correct, they are not legally required. So why do they do it anyway? You watch ABC news you've seen the countless vides of law enforcement saving people or the countless hours of bodycam. Don't play dumb. 3. I do hope you know law enforcement can't collect revenue if you don't commit violations. Maybe you weren't taught to be responsbile for your actions but if you speed or do a violation that has money tied then YOU did it. Do better.

@@dehz4948 - you don't need to violate a traffic law for a cop to stop you and cite you for a violation. At that point, you are guilty unless you can prove yourself innocent in court. That happened to me twice before dash cams or cell phone cameras were prolific. And, I'm white. So, it wasn't even a DWB stop. It was pure revenue generation. Sandy Hook also had a cop who didn't go in to save those kids. You're fooling yourself if you think cops care about your safety or that they are the good guys. The Thin Blue Line and court protection protects and encourages bad cops and cops who are only there for the power trip while picking up a paycheck funded by citizens they harass. Black people are more likely to be shot when calling police than receiving help from them. Police have a license to kill. They can arrest you without cause. Of course you can get released after spending the night in jail and spending money on an attorney. Very few wrongful arrests are prosecuted and the punishment for the officer is nothing more than getting fired from that job and moving to a different department. Police will commit the same traffic infractions daily that they generate revenue off of citizens. My point with the original comment was to remind people who are angry that the police did nothing during the shooting that police are not responsible for our safety. Yet, we are required to obey to them. One of those things needs to change. Currently, it's absolutely true that police are the equivalent of the occupying British troops in the American Colonies.

@@Texas240 Police are allowed to commit traffic infractions…it’s called being exempt. The plate reads it in most states. I’m sorry you don’t like that. And yes, you are required to abide by their orders. I’m sorry you have a power complex and don’t like authority but that won’t change. However the department jumpers are a thing, one thing that is an actual problem in law enforcement. Want to know why they get hired? Because citizens like you complain about response times and lack of officers and the crime rate rises so officers hire anyone they can to fill cars and take calls. It’s a giant circle actually. You guys complain, the good cops leave or retire because why would I work there, bad cops get hired to fill spots, they get in trouble, and it starts all over again. And no, a officer did not fail to stop the shooter there. Officers were on the scene fast and many people who weren’t even officers assisted.

@@Texas240 The good thing about people who think like you is you are a small minority. Most people have brain, therefore knowing the responses to the questions you asked easy. Police won’t stop being able to do their job, they will continue to be able to “violate” traffic laws (even though it’s for their lawful duties), and they will continue to put their lives on the line. I’m aware you ignore the mass amount of other shootings where officers acted and saved lives such as Pulse Night Club, every other mass shooting at a school, Las Vegas, Dallas (officers were targeted but still helped get the civilians out of the way), officers who wrecked into wrong way drunk drivers and died or got seriously injured to stop them from wrecking into civilians, etc. They will continue to do it and you will continue to ignore it. However the person upstairs sees it all and that’s all that matters to them.

If an officer is speeding but not running code (or flashing the red n blue lights just to run a red light), lights or enroute to an emergency, he's violating the same laws and being just as much of a traffic danger as the citizens he'd cite for violating those laws. I'm amazed that you try to defend police irresponsibility by by pointing out they are above the law.

He's a coward and a liar. Doesn't mean gun reform is bad. It's absurd how easy it is to get a gun in this country. Required registration is sensible. First time buyers requiring a gun safety course completion is common sense. Background checks and mental health evaluations are obviously needed. Basic basic basic simple stuff.
