The beginning of it all for me, on a cold Friday night in January of 1979 in my maternal grandfather’s living room….plenty of automotive-themed tv shows came after it that thrilled and delighted me(including Knight Rider, of course!)….but it all started with this orange Charger. Thanks to both KRH and NEOD for bringing the 2 most popular “car shows” together in such a spirit of camaraderie….

Great video Joe and thanks to the owner of this General Lee to let everyone see the actual details of the Charger!

Back when the Duke's was still on tv. My best friend where just out riding around like we were known to do .And we somehow ended up out side the studio where they filmed the Duke's. And hanging on the side of the building at the top was a for real 1968/69 Dodge Charger with all of the cast members faces painted under it. We also looked over the fence into the backlot and there were several rows of Chargers parked next to each other. Some did not look to bad and others well lets just say That's Not Gonna Buff Out. I still have the two pictures I took that day of the car on the building but I ran out of film in my camera before I looked over the fence. Remember this was before your phone was also your camera.

One thing I remembered from the show is I think Coy and Vances last episode, is the angled section of the row bar removed from the interior. They showed one close-up shot of them driving, and it was on and then the next shot it was removed. My guess is that it was a pain for the actors that had to sit in the back. Beautiful original here!!!

There were doors wheels engines laying everywhere cars were getting hauled to the scrap yards and virgen chargers were getting delivered getting ready to be turned into lees. Amazing video! Probably the closet I'll ever get to a screen used General Lee. It's nice to know that 17 screen used cars including this one, survived. That is a significant number considering how many cars were destroyed during the production of the show. The fortunate thing is the supply of Dodge Chargers did not come from a train derailment. The production crew were not obligated to have them crushed after the show ended. There are so few surviving screen used Knight Rider cars because many of them were crushed as part of the obligation that was a condition of the train derailment deal. It is a crime we don't have the screen used full time Super Pursuit car!

I like how they've kept it as it would have been in the show with all the dents scrapes and repairs. It was interesting to hear they used 1968 Chargers for the General Lee, as I'm sure I saw a documentary about the Dukes of Hazzard, saying they only ever used 69's as it wasn't possible to make a 68, or 70 Charger look like a 69.

Can hardly believe the car actually has a dixie horn installed?! That seems very rare / odd for all but the first cars in GA. I remember when WB formed another company for legal reasons and shared the VINs to sell the 17 cars sight unseen to the public rather than scrap or get them to rich collectors. Those cars went or a great price back then. So awesome to see one up close and glad 19 still survive. WB kept 2 which were used in the reunion TV movie (which were redone and improperly decalled with small "01" and also used a little bit in the 2005 movie. Great content! Great video, all these cars are cool. But for sure the detail in your night rider videos beats these guys, I can tell you be digging so much deeper into the history

With all the chaos going on in the world today this video took me back to the time of this era and forgetting everything going on and relieved my childhood memories watching this show on Sunday night then I believe it went to Friday night. Thank you keep this content up Like to see Back to the Future the history of the Toyota 4x4 on the movie God speed 🙏

It's great seeing an original General up close with all of the battle scars....and that car is worth more then a 100 point 69 Charger too I would bet. A great video on a great show from my Friday nights growing up:-) Thanks a ton...do keep them coming!!!

Only thing that I was disappointed by in this video, was that the Horn wasn't Blown...LOL It was cool seeing all the original damage and patches. Please keep these little "Side trips" happening as much as possible.
