I'm two years after a heart attack and I'm showing all the signs and symptoms of heart failure...And I'm 55... And this has slowed me down... And my doctors have done a great job at keeping me out of the emergency room but my symptoms are still there... Thanks for the heads up....
I am so thankful for doctors. I have heart issues that may evolve into CHF and this gives me a little bit of hope. In fact, I have an appt in 2 days with my cardiologist to run tests to, specifically, check for it.

People with hiv live normal life span as long as tget take their meds and their immune system is normally too if tgey take their hiv meds so I don't know why that's surprising

natasja van limburg stirum Ma’am, the pendulum of human knowledge swings back-and-forth as new information is replaced by the antiquated. We see this in every branch of human investigation, medicine is no exception. However unlike more sterile endeavors of human knowledge and subsequent findings; the direction and speed of that pendulum can quite literally knock off the lives of those we love. For a long time sodium was known or at least fiercely believed to be a confounding factor in hypertension and other cardiovascular complications. Then the pendulum began to swing in the opposite direction and sodium was pooh-poohed as being a possible etiologic factor. The thinking went as follows: just because we see a high sodium diet in so many of these patients with hypertension, congestive heart failure, Pulmonary edema, Generalized edema (Gosh I could go on and on but they would be no point). This doesn’t mean that that’s its a cause behind the resultant diseases. And as a physician myself I was fine with this conclusion. Great one less thing to worry about. Please allow me to disabuse you of something that many physicians still believe: that sodium has no part to play in diseases of the cardiovascular system. This is most definitely false. Precisely because of the renin- angiotensin-aldosterone system. (RAAS) If you just watch the early part of the presentation the first position discusses the RAAS system. Many patients, due to a wide variety of Etiologies (causes Of medical diagnoses or diseases) Experience an elevation in any one of the components of the RAAS system. The second A: aldosterone -Is the cause behind many a patient’s hypertension. They have no idea that they have elevated aldosterone and neither do their physicians. What comes along with an elevation of aldosterone is a craving for salt. Many physicians will tell patients “go ahead have the salt your body is craving it maybe you need it” And often if blood tests are done these patients are found to be hyponatremic But not all. However, one of the earliest signs on the cascade of remodeling that leads to the worsening of heart failure is left ventricular hypertrophy or in large meant of the major pump of the heart. Well done research studies have shown that sodium in the presence of aldosterone floating around in the patient’s bloodstream have an attraction like a magnet to myocardial tissue that is the special muscle tissue that is only found in the heart and Larger blood vessels ( it is unique and quiteunlike the smooth muscle or striated muscle in the rest of our body.) And what these research studies have found and they’ve been repeated multiple times is that sodium plus aldosterone leads to to an in large meant of the left ventricle this is true from the work course of medical laboratories the rat all the way to the human beings that we love. So sodium does most definitely make a difference and I will admit I was one of those physicians who for more than 20 years believed that it was old-school BS. It’s not I really hope this helps you and anyone else who happens to read it As a physician who has had to retire in my early 40s because of severe hemorrhage during childbirth and delivery. In the years since I have had one organ after another fail ...As it has now reached my heart my kidneys I am under no illusions that I will see my precious children grow into the beautiful adults I know they will be nor will I ever have the pleasure of holding my grandchildren. I know I will not live to see my children grow up nor will I see my grandchildren. I would not dare proffer this information unless it came from a place of knowledge and experience.

Losing so much blood during child-delivery must have messed-up your body's natural ability to recover but I hope you fight-back, be more laid-back with life, allow your body to heal which could take years, and perhaps, you may still reach the ripe old age beyond 65 years old. sheri skousen I truly understand how you feel ( I often feel like I am trapped at the bottom of 50 foot well that is so ancient it’s no longer used, with walls are covered in algae and I cannot climb out no matter how hard I try). if I stop taking all the medications that I must to keep my organs growing I fall into an incense eight a dangerously deep and painful sleep this is happened to me a couple of times over the last decade when I have become very sick with a bug that’s going around or some other cause. it’s frightening especially if you have a TIA illness one of those where everything is coming up and you can’t keep your medicine down that’s the most dangerous situation of all and I need to switch at that pointto injections for the most critical of the medicines they are is out of the 25 medications I take to keep my body going there are about six that without them there would be no life. Without the other 19 my symptoms would be out of control and life would be a terrible nightmare of suffering. but I do agree with you in a way what I mean is if I took all the medications that have been diagnosed that have been recommended and prescribed for me over the last 15 years I would be on twice the number of medications and I would be a hell of a lot sicker. Once I finally got enough of my Mental faculties back I began to make sure that the meds I was taking were either of absolute necessity orNecessary to giving my life at least some quality and some semblance of normalcy even though I’m completely homebound and my disablement more than 10 years ago was due to the callus actions of an obstetrician. before that I was leaving the life that I had worked for decades in school to finally achieve and I was so happy I was doing exactly what my dreams once were and still are if I could have anything it would be to return to full health and I wouldn’t go right back to my profession. How many people have doctors that explain the process? I asked my cardiologist, what I should have done different to avoid my attack. He said, “Nothing different”. He gave me a low class answer saying “sh-t happens”. How unprofessional. I wish I could get a doctor like one of these professionals. Im in Canada with government provided healthcare. I pay much higher income tax to get this ‘free’ care. There is no alternative to go around this terrible system except to go the USA and pay cash.

This is a great (still current) synopsis for people diagnosed with heart failure. @@sandilobianco6734 do you have HF? If you do you’ll know how excess sodium raises bp and puts extra pressure on cardiac output making you gain water weight and feel fatigued, this is why cardiologists check for ankle edema and fluid on the lungs with HFrEF or you could just be a unique human
