Regarding the polar tributaries map, I'll never forget the time I was driving in North Dakota and saw a sign "Continental Divide". I was nowhere near the Rockies so how could this be a Continental Divide? Well, I finally figured out it was the area where the waters flew into Hudson Bay instead of the Pacific or the Gulf of Mexico. You can see part of North Dakota represented on the map flowing into Hudson Bay.
Named The Laurentian Divide. It runs from Triple Divide Peak (aptly named if I don't say so) loosely following the US-Canada border to the Great Lakes, and then angling northeastward to Labrador. Its western portion defined the northern extent of the Louisiana Purchase.
Hi Bill! Kendyll here! Thank you for sharing that personal insight, I never even noticed that detail. I will never look at my map the same again, thank you!
@@kendyllmcgowan , I'm glad I could bring a different perspective into your life. Did you notice I used the word "flew" instead of the word "flowed"? LOL. Sometimes my fingers type faster than my brain can think.
Her: “he’s probably thinking of other women.” Me: “another neat observation of the cows per square mile map was the regional bbq in those parts of the country typically center around beef.”
Having lived in Hessen when I was stationed in Germany, I appreciate the elevation map. Notice the higher elevations in the south of the state, this is the Odenwald mountain region, which is an amazing area for hikers. The whole state is really underrated by foreign travelers.
The whole state is pretty great for hiking as you are close to mountains pretty much everywhere, whether you're in the south, east, north, or west. I think it's not just underrated by foreigners but also Germans themselves because it's mostly seen as a transit state that you need to cross to get to the more popular destinations such as the coast or the Alps
Kyle - I love this series so much and was so happy to see it show up in my feed tonight! Keep up the great work. Special shout out to the two Klauses and Kendall for making especially great looking maps.
Coming from Columbia county and having used to live in marathon country, I think I would put marathon county in the Northwoods instead but otherwise pretty good.
I think it totally messed up a lot of the eastern driftless area. Sauk County is one of the most definitive driftless counties, and a big chunk of Western Columbia County is an extension of the same driftless landscape, so putting it entirely in the central farmland region is very inaccurate.
I’m routinely impressed by our hiking trail maps in Ontario. That one you highlighted looked so familiar to me and I’ve never even been to that particular spot on Hwy 7. This mapmaker must do a lot of work for the surrounding conservation areas and provincial parks too.
The cow map was awesome! We have soooo many cows in Oklahoma. Actually took a road trip to central Kentucky last summer and noticed that there seemed to be a lot of cows. The Chicago buildings by decade map is really great as well. Love going to Chicago, so much history and there's so much to do.
You can see the strategically important "Fulda Gap" on the map of Hesse by Klaus. NATO defends this gap quite strongly as it is presumed to be the most likely invasion route if Russia were ever to attack Germany and want to proceed towards Frankfurt and the Rhine.
Great maps! Shout out to Klaus and his amazing single engine, cross country airplane adventure! Shout out to Joe who maybe loves Cracker Barrel as much as I do! Sadly, there are no Cracker Barrels in Canada... Shout out to Kendal who provided some amazing, somewhat familiar maps. The arctic hydrology map is very interesting and that final map is a park in Norwood, Ontario, Canada - if I'm not mistaken. That's in the same county I live in, REPRESENT!!!!
Hey Kyle, I think a really cool video idea would be reviewed the longest and most interesting lines of sight around the globe, like seeing the Alps from the Pyrenees, or Mt Everest from Kathmandu
That cell phone coverage in 1990 map is pretty wild. I remember being in the US back then and only a very very little amount of people had one around me. It was mostly pagers and payphones.
😂 Glückwunsch to second Klaus for getting his little joke in The state name is Hessen, people there have a fun accent that drops Ns at the end😂 It's like a map of Boston that says Bahstan
Howdy Kyle Much enjoyed 'Interesting Maps #11 but, as one of your loyal viewers here in England, may I make a plea for you to produce a video particular subject? Given what is currently happening in the USA, it would be very informative for those of us who are not residents of the United States to be able to understand the "geography" of the US legal system. I say "geography " because it may be more geopolitics or even demography but I personally would like to understand the geographic extent of legal entities such as "The Southern District of New York" and how such jurisdictions overlay the physical geography of the USA. I hope that you will be able to oblige but please tell me if I am barking up the wrong tree. Adam
I saw a very interesting map on Twitter of Australia where it shows the climate equivalents of other places in the world. For example, the great Victoria desert represented by the Sahara Desert and south Western Australia represented by central Spain and California. If you could find it I would love for you to give it a review!
The pink/red areas contained a smaller proportion of the total population in 2020 than they did in 2010. Their absolute population numbers may still have grown. The map is controlled for the average pop. growth during that decade (7,4%).
Regarding the map showing the density of Cracker Barrel restaurants, i must mention that they have made several negative (IMO) changes to their menu. And they no longer bake muffins! And sometimes the quality of the food leaves a lot to be desired. They might be meeting locations for old folks, but this senior citizen is no longer patronizing them.
The map showing Walmarts is actually inaccurate for DC, there aren't 5 Walmarts in the district. There's only 2 I'm pretty sure. Definitely not 5 though.
@crafty483 NM, I guess youbare just a spoof account for the geo king to defend his honor since I see no activity anywhere else and only 1 follower. Just upload them in the right order. Otherwise I'm watching the last one, which mentions all the ones before, and you can't just flip the order it's played in bc it's not a Playlist I created. Lazy mf er
