In today's cultural climate, many deconstruction stories can be traced back to the moral failings of church leaders, such as inappropriate relationships or abuse. Understanding and addressing these issues is vital to protecting our churches and rebuilding trust. Join us as we answer what role we can play in acknowledging these problems and why it is so important to recognize and confront hypocrisy within the Church.

I am so thankful how God is ministering through you, Alisa, so that I have changed my perspectives in several areas and am more like Christ in grace and truth!

Beautiful message - we live (especially in Church) in a time where there is a Pastor Cult a Worship Team Cult but no true genuine christ like humility and quietness before the throne. God is not holy anymore, no he is a buddy that is where the trouble lies.

We don't know how to pray like we're supposed to. The glory to God, he helps us in our weaknesses! Romans 8

The Bible says to confess out sins to one another. If that doesn't happen then Elders and Deacons have their difficult responsibility calling out wayward believers. But in a culture that has affirmed and rewarded individuality over and against community, the church in practice is less a collective body than a group of individuals. The divorce shows that at least half of the failed marriages have a sense of 2 individuals rather than one as a union. So insidiously, the body of Christ is fragmented more than it is unified. Building stronger Local Bodies, True Unity minded congregations is a prevailing concern.

A great topic. The church is not Jesus and Jesus is not the church. The amazing thing is that Jesus saw this coming all those years ago. Matthew 7:15 and 7:21. The message from God, as delivered by Jesus, is not to be taken by faith alone. God doesn't want mindless believers. A reason for the parables as described in Matthew 13. Only by understanding can we more easily see those who really get the good news and those who use the idea as some kind of scam.

Moral Failure and Hypocrisy in the Church is directly proportionate to our commitment and submission to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by the Power of The Holy Spirit. We should NEVER compare ourselves to others in the "Church" or the body of Christ but ONLY to the Character and Nature of Jesus Christ Himself and His commands for us to follow. Throughout the Bible (Old and New Testament) we are provided all the direction we need to be totally committed to Him and Him alone (II Timothy 3:16-17). Those who say they are "Christian" and do not believe He is who He said He is will be like the individuals in Matthew 7:21-23. We have to die to self, making Him our all in all for His glory!

Jesus was raised a Jew who believed in Yahweh, the bloodthirsty Hebrew god who was sorry he made mankind and decided in a fit of anger to destroy nearly every living thing that he had made. Jesus, who was believed by many to be Yahweh in the human form, told his followers that he did not come in peace. He came with a sword to spread division among family members in a great battle between good and evil. He said this because he believed the end of the world was imminent, which was untrue, and that he would soon return which was also untrue.

If the church look like hypocrites, the world is going to notice, and sadly, it does not matter what our motives are. People want to see God, not us and not our human failings. A lot of people started out as Christians but ended as hypocrites, I'm speaking from experience, sadly. Jesus said to be perfect; that's the standard, and everything else is probably sin.

How come you guys always blame the victim? If someone leaves the church because of abuse or scandal you can't just say "they weren't following Jesus in the first place". This is a cop out, it is unloving, and just another way of saying "it can't be our fault. We're good people". Stop doing this please. We need to clean house and quit tolerating sin and abuse in our spiritual leaders. And leave judgement of those who flee abuse and hypocrisy to the Lord, who alone truly understands them. Romans 2:24.

I am subscribed to your podcast and have your book and I consider myself a conservative Christian, but I am disappointed with your alignment with Allie Beth Stuckey.😢

She’s too political. I hate to see Christians sucked up into politics, then condemning those who don’t follow the same candidate.

@juliecox6650 we shouldn't idolize politics, but there is nothing wrong with standing for the person who is the lesser of evils. There is also nothing wrong with calling out evil no matter which side it's on. We aren't supposed to lean on the political leaders, though. The only person who can save America is Jesus.
