Statement “Your Lithuanian wife is just gold digger” may come from a person who has own problems in finding soulmate therefore he is blaming women for being selfish (as most likely average foreigner should be more rich than average lithuanian men)

my Lithuanian wife started her own business here (in the USA) from nothing when she moved here - makes WAY more money that I do, lol, and works 5 times harder - kinda negates that stereotype :)

From the experience that I have with lithuanian men, alot of them don't have anything to offer. In terms of emotional connection ect. Another thing is that some guys like to show off how much money they have, and shallow women really latch on to that. So guys, don't be upset that a woman, whom you attracted with the help of money, stays for the money. Not all of us are like that, but you have to beware and show your pontential partner that you are more than just a shell of a man.

I felt the need to add my two cents. I'm British and my missus is Lithuanian. I have always disliked how human beings are often perceived by social status, or by the country they come from. And I strongly dislike such stereotypes. I came to Lithuania to be with my other half because even though we're from different countries, we fell for one another, and that she felt closer to me than anyone else, she's my soulmate and my rock. I'm a working class English lad, and I feel I'm the luckiest man in the world to have such a loving, caring and clever woman, a woman's intellect has always been hugely appealing to me, and I think that Lithuanians tend to be well educated in general with a work ethic that is second to none. I haven't been a good example in terms of my adaptation here, but I can say that I speak the language, and have become familiar with the social mores, however, I still cling on to my English identity rightly or wrongly, part of me wants to be accepted here, the other half of me wonders whether I would ever be accepted here.

As a man in a relationship with a Lithuanian woman for almost 10 years now, I am positive she's not with me for my money. In fact, she's been consistently earning more than me. Another factor coming into play here is whether a person from a particular country is keen on dating their compatriots or not? I, for instance, would never consider going out with someone from my country as I find they possess some qualities that are very off-putting to me. Please, please, please bear in mind that it is a generalization and it is possible I am the problem. My partner and I have had a similar conversation several times and we just happen to see eye to eye 🙂 Based on the Lithuanian women I have met, the impression I get is that if money is not an issue for their potential partner, then it is not an issue at all. But I acknowledge that this issue is extremely nuanced 🤔

Great video - I've actually never come across a gold digger comment living Lithuania. Additionally from my perspective most (not all) single men from Lithuania that travel to Ireland for work tend to keep to their circle of Lithuanian friends and wouldn't really branch out to the Irish woman. But when single Lithuanian women go to Ireland for work they are much more open to the different culture, that along with their common 'forwardness' its easy to see why there are more Lithuanian woman with foreign men than the other way around.

im a lithuanian and i think that being called eastern european makes sense based on geography so i dont take it as an insult. The whole/most of the negative aspect of it due us associating "eastern european" with "russian" (who are stereotypical to be culturaly and technologically backwards). As for being called slavs or russians is more of an insult due historical reasons

i would argue that the language level depends on the technology exposure of the gender. I always felt like men are in a better position english wise due to having interest in computers more than the ladies. Also the general level of english classes in schools are generally poor which makes computers the more reliable source of learning the language.

A factor not mentioned is that it is trendy to date foreigners. People love attention and like to act exotic/be out of the norm. Guess it is a similar thing we had going with Poland in the 'LPC'. Polish became dominant and Lithuanians used Polish as it was more trendy at the time. A nation of sheep in a sense. Sounds bad but it is the truth. Even had it with the Soviets where Lithuanians pretended to be Russian to get a higher percieved status.

As a middle aged Lithuanian (sort of) woman, I can state that I wouldn’t live with a Lithuanian man if he was the last man on earth. I would kill for him though to ensure that ar-ehole survives.

Explanation why there are so many Lithuanian women married to foreigners is quite easy. Mostly they met abroad where are a lot of Lithuanian emigrants, like England, Germany, USA etc. For Lithuanian woman it's not difficult to find foreign man because those men are searching for wifes from east. Because they are more attractive, more loyal, don't choose career over the family, don't hesitate to make house work, cook better etc. But to marry foreign woman for Lithuanian man is almost impossible. Emigrant men aren't considered equal to locals. At best Lithuanian man could find other emigrant woman abroad. What about gold diggers - yes, there are plenty of them. But what I call gold diggers is type of girls who met foreigner, uses him for restaurants, attractions, travel, gifts and when it's getting more serious - she brake up with him and find another victim. Often they have more than one boyfriend at the same time. When a foreign man comes to Lithuania it's very easy for him to find a girlfriend or a wife here because many girls will choose foreigner instead of Lithuanian. In some cases it's because foreigners are more open, more extraverts, more like to travel. In some cases it's because they has less problems with alcohol. In some cases it's because she wants to escape Lithuania and foreign man is her chance to do it. In some cases it's just because all Lithuanians are used to that everything what's imported is better than local :) And off course in most cases it's because foreign men has higher income than locals. But would you call her gold digger if she don't want to take his money and run away, but just choosing a better life option? If you are local around 30 years or older, working for minimal wage, living with parents, driving diesel shitbox, drinking till passing out every Friday and Saturday - don't blame the girl you like that she chose foreigner instead of you.

I dated a Lithuanian girl. She was divorced from her Lithuanian husband. I’m English. She made it quite clear that she’d like to leave the country sometime. Anyway it didn’t work out. She’s dating a Canadian now. And she dated an English guy before me. And they were all long distance. I mean it’s a sample size of one but doesn’t help the stereotype.

Hello! Of course, Lithuanian women are getting married! It doesn’t matter to what nationality. I’ve been living here for quite some time and people should visit Lithuania and walk the streets. Almost every single woman here is gorgeous and beautiful. I’m a heterosexual married woman and even I’m thinking about hitting on them! I believe, if you are a single man maybe just visiting, the falling in love with Lithuanian woman is inevitable 😊

Well, I would not say anything bout your wife, cause I don't know her, however when you say "foreigners" you mean foreigners from more rich countries of the EU or USA/Canada, cause Lithuanian women clearly are less interested in someone from, for example, actual eastern Europe and other post-soviet countries. But, in my opinion, the question should be "Is that bad?". Everyone seeks comfort in a relationship and it's easier achievable with someone with more money and citizenship in a democratic country. So I don't see reasons to criticize someone for safe choices.

And because of it, majority of half-Lithuanians have Lithuanian mothers/Foreign fathers while the other way around is sadly, non-exist. But in Lithuanian society, half-Lithuanians with Lithuanian mothers/Foreign fathers are considering as "foreigners", thus some Lithuanian nationalists are blaming on Lithuanian women for destroying their Lithuanianess by having kids with foreign men. Not gonna lie, I wish the other way around exist more than LT women/foreign men couples, because it's too rare and interesting than LT women/foreign men couples. Overall, Lithuanians can't into Northern Europeans and Lithuanian women can into Eastern European women, like Melania Trump.

I wonder... When you and your Lithuanian wife are going to have children (or do you have them already? Idk...), are they going to be more Lithuanian, or more Canadian?
