A 60 kw, 300 V, shunt-wound generator has 1800 turn shunt windings.
During no-load, the shunt current is 1,8A. To maintain the terminal voltage constant at 300 V, the shunt field current must be raised to 2,4 A at full load. Determine the following:
a) The number of series turns needed per pole in order to obtain a level-compounded long-shunt generator.
b) The value of a diverter resistance needed to give level compounding if the series field coils have 8 turns per pole instead of six turns per pole. The total resistance of the series field coils is 0,1 Ω.
