That’s because he didn’t do it slowly. If you ease it forward/back to activate/deactivate it it’s totally silent.

In most cases Crossbow strings sit (or ride) on the rail that holds the bolt. When the rail is lubed properly it will not be much of an issue. Unusual string ware usually occurs if no rail lube or not enough rail lube is used. During practice, always use rail lube. If hunting, its typically ok to shoot the one shot dry so as not to pick up debris when in the woods. We see several customers that bought their crossbow elsewhere that ware out their strings much faster than they should because of the lack of rail lube during practice when they shoot many more shots. Most simply didn't know about the importance of it. Hope this helps.

I have an Excalibur that was made in 2017. It’s only 355 fps. But I’ve only changed the string one time. And I only changed it then because I wanted to not because I had to.

That's because the latches need to be polished which is no big deal. It's like flossing your teeth

I agree and I have the Matrix as well. I guess some people want "simple and quick". I hunt on my own property so I never have to take mine apart, but for people who have to travel to hunt, I guess it's a feature they like. By the way, the Matrix 355 is sweet crossbow. Very accurate!! and powerful
