So for bleeding you only have to loosen the filler cap? On mine it says to loosen the 6mm Allen key on the pump but the instructions are not clear -- with or without engine on... Anyone? Apparently it can be serious (destroy pump) if something called 'cavitation occurs.

"It didn't say how to pressurize the tank." Ditto here.

Exclent point about prepositional error (rather lacuna). Checked mine: final instruction: "5. Tighten the vent plug ..then pressurize." What they call the vent plug I call the filler, for obvious reasons. The " pressurization posture" shows the boom pulled upright towards the cab area, the stick folded back into the boom, and the bucket curled up. Looks rather like a crane on one leg doing some mating ritual...

Thanks for all the feedback, JohnCollins. I appreciate it. If I can suggest, have a look at my 5-6 videos in Season 4; they’re my latest activities related to foundation preparation. Would like to get your feedback. Cheers.

I just bought a used PC60-7 and am also a Japan traveler. It looks like you're in Japan which is a pleasant surprise as I hunt for videos on changing hydraulic lines index the excavator.

These rigs are pretty fun to own, aren’t they. Enjoy! And thanks for watching.

@@ShimodaLife They're fun to use, but when something goes wrong, they can be almost impossible to repair on one's own. I've had the PC60-7 for about a week and on day three I noticed hydraulic oil leaking from the back of the machine near the PPC shuttle valve when I engage the right travel stick forward. No leaks with other functions. Today I tried to isolate the leak and thought I'd found it at a coupling. I tightened the coupling with two adjustable wrenches and noticed the bend in the line was crumbling when I handled it. The next time I started the machine, I could hear it spraying as soon as I engage the red safety lever. None of the functions work now. So just me mucking around for an hour in there disabled the entire machine. I'm in over my head and am looking for a mechanic who knows how to run new lines under the "house". I'm a little too old for that kind of physical labor. Spent my life savings on this machine as an investment with the intent of selling it for a good price when I move to Japan. Just a week into ownership, I'm looking at what could be costly repairs. Hopefully I can get the seller to pitch in on the cost, because I spent all of my savings to buy this.

Jon normally you would change the filter element at the same time you change the fluid.

What is that beast of a superstore you went to? I don't think we have anything like that around here in Nagasaki!

Ha, I’ve never thought of our local “Handy” as a superstore, but because of the crowds, I guess it did look the part a bit, didn’t it. But it still is a gem for our little town. Thanks for the comment.

Hello or I guess I should say konnichiwa? RU-vid sent me here when I search how to change the top track roller on my mini excavator I just bought a Takeuchi tb235. Our lives are surprisingly parallel haha I'm doing a lot of the same kind of work trying to fix up my 40-acre piece in North Florida which is currently being utilized as a hunting camp as I I'm still working and living Fort Lauderdale but someday I hope to retire on my land.. anyhow, your channel caught my eye because you are in Japan. do you mind we asking why you're there? I've always had an interest in Japan and it's definitely on my bucket list to go there. You speak Japanese? Sorry for so many questions😅

Hi Mike, thanks for finding my site and reaching out. I sprinkle tidbits of life in my videos. Please subscribe if you haven't already, and you'll learn more about Japan and my life. Good luck with your 40 acres, and your excavator (I love mine!). Cheers.

Nope, doesn't look clean - looks like engine oil. Do you need to open the filler cap to let air in to avoid the gloops?
@getadigger
@getadigger 4 года назад
How many hours on that machine? That oil didn't look as though it had ever been changed. May also be worth investing in new suction and return hydraulic filters. Preventative maintenance is absolute key with any field equipment. You'll develop a love hate relationship with grease. Lol. Keep up the good work! 😁

It had 2,140 hrs on it when I bought it. Just slightly more now, I suspect. The oil was black, wasn't it. I'll look into those filters. Thanks for the comment.

@@johncollins8304 I bought a 2022 new takeuchi TB 230 so I know I won’t have any problems with it for at least a couple years until the warranty is up. I know buying new it’s not for everyone but that’s been my style

Hello. Great video. I have a PC 20 and I cannot figure out how to raise the cab. I know the canopy goes up with it but there are so many bolts back there and it’s not budging. I have a small leak underneath that I need to get to to see what’s going on. It shouldn’t be this hard. Thanks for any help.

Starting from the 2:00 mark, I go after the screws to pop the cab. Watch carefully; it’s not the most visible screws on top I take out; it’s the ones slightly out of view underneath.

Also, get a pdf version of the owners and repair manuals and keep them on your phone. Very handy!

I purchased a used '08 Komatsu PC35 last fall for my property. Needless to say, i have found out about owning a piece of construction equipment and the costs involved in maintaining them. I changed a few O-rings on the pump within the first hour of operation. This is when i was introduced to how expensive Komatsu replacement parts are and how proprietary the manufacturer is. Twenty litres of H46 hydraulic fluid, a new replacement filter and three O-rings was over $300 dollars. I changed the rings myself, as it was pretty straight forward, as was changing the oil. I never did try to bleed the system of air following the oil change. Everything seems to be okay, although, after using the machine for a certain amount of time, I find the machine sluggish and not as responsive as it is when the machine is cold and the oil still thick. I have almost 4000 hours on it, so I'm not sure what work was done on this by the previous owner, as the leaks from the pump were caused by the replacement of generic O-rings. As i stated earlier, this is a very proprietary company and the use of generic replacement parts is out of the question. You can't even find replacement parts on line, which is why they are so expensive. They have you over a barrel. At any rate, its a nice piece of equipment to have instead of having to call a contractor and be at their mercy for showing up or over charging you. Cheers!

I love my Komatsu. Don’t have any experience on other models, and you’re right about after-market bits. But this is by far my most valuable tool on this job site.

Unlike a cars, hydraulic braking system an excavator hydraulic system does not have to be bled
