@7:21 to see how to type Gigi in Sales Rep criteria cell and have row turn yellow? It is an advanced trick. I don't teach it till later in the sequence of classes. It requires mixed cell references, which we have not learned at this point in class. Here is a video about how to do it though: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XCR3ReuRnTk.html
I've been accepted to an MBA program as a psychology undergraduate and these videos are a gift! I'm enjoying my time staring at spreadsheets with these instructions.
Yes indeed, I try to add something for everyone : ) Really, though, it is by telling a story about a topic that does not have any holes and is told in a logical order that means everyone can find something. The reason is because there are not many stories told about Excel Topics that don't have holes and which make no assumptions. Thanks for stopping by in the comments, James : )
I am transitioning careers at the present moment. Your videos with reference material is AWESOME! I now have the confidence to make me successful in my new career.
Thank you again. Made this screen name when I was like 17. If you had told 17 year old me that when I'm 29 I'd be at home enjoying Excel homework problems he wouldn't have believed you. I'm enjoying the lessons
@@excelisfun Someone has had to have pointed this out by now but in HW(2) I believe there is a typo. Instructions say that in F6 we should count how many words there are in the B4:B12 range but I think it's supposed to be G5 that we make that formula
The influence of teachers extends beyond the classroom, well into the future. - F. Sionil Jose Forever indebted to you sir, you bring out the best in everyone. Thank you is never enough.
Thanks for a great introduction to count(ifs) and sum(ifs) - it's also great you included COUNTA. When I give training sessions, everyone knows COUNT but many don't know about COUNTA.
Top notch tutorials. For some reason you have the ability to teach me about excel whilst also entertaining me. Great teaching process and you really break down everything in detail so I can understand fully. Thanks Michael.

ExcelIsFun your enthusiasm for teaching shown throughout the video is inspiring, and your teaching method where you highlight important details through your slowed way of speaking showcases your tutoring expertise. I'm grateful for you making all of these resources available for free. Looking forward to the next video!
Excellent videos, all the steps are clearly explained, thank you so much for making them available free of cost to everybody. Learning a lot through them.
It's just OMG when i saw the title of the video i said these functions are known to me but when i insisted to see the video i learned that they can do more and more so impressive thank you Mr. Mike
Dear Mike, I think you are the best of the best excel teacher on the entire youtube. I give tremendous credits to your free PDF textbook and the exercise to practice on, those really make your tutorials outstanding! Appreciate it!
You are welcome, Lyman! It is my way of trying to make the world a better place! Thanks for the support on each video with a comment, Thumbs Up and a Sub : )
@@excelisfun If each viewer could only recommend one excel tutor on youtube, then I'd definitely present you. Anyone could benefit so much by going thru your videos step by step. I will keep learning from them. Two thumbs-up!
I was watching other videos on youtube about excel, and I did not like them. I thought it was boring and only did it as I wanted to take advantage of the range of opportunity excel gives to people who understand it. I was on Reddit and a lot of people said: "go check out Excelisfun". You even have homework??? Thank you so much, I am actually enjoying excel! Who would have known? I am liking all the videos I am watching, you deserve a lot of recognition.
You are welcome! That is great that they help with your job!! You can help me too, by always clicking that Thumbs Up and leaving a small comment - it really helps to support : )
Definitely learning a lot from these introductory videos. I have Linkedin Learning but the instructors are pretty "dry." Had to give up and come here. I have to admit I'm learning a LOT more, easily and rapidly. The keyboard shortcuts are great and the way the instructor explains things is great, which is useful for an incredibly boring topic like Excel. You make it seem fun and that's saying a lot.
In the beginning I really like to thank you very much. You are the reason for the proficiency of the program and learning many, many, and secondly, I would like to re-create the video industry but in Arabic so as to expand the base of the beneficiaries due to the weakness of Arabic content.
EXCELlent!!! Glad the video and Homework help !!! Don't forget that part of the Homework is to comment and Thumbs Up on each video, then it is REALLY perfect : )
Sir, Can I skip certain lessons if I am not well versed in certain areas? I am asking you because I found the beginning of the second lesson to be difficult as I do not do financial reports. I appreciate any guidance. Thank you.
As always, and excellent vid. I would just suggest you show that the criteria for countifs() goes beyond simply "=." You can do > and < and combine them.
my notes from this video for if others want to use it: count formulas: count = counts all numbers countA = count all cells NOT empty countIF(s) = count num of cells specified by the given set of conditions or criteria example: =COUNTIFS(B5:B13, "Gigi"). this counts how many times Gigi appears in this range of cells. sum formulas: sumIF(s) = sum of numbers based on criteria. ' example: =SUMIFS(C5:C13, B5:B13, "Gigi"). this counts the sum of numbers (C5:C13), based on IF Gigi appears in this range of cells (B5:B13) do this to double check some numbers, that are not easy to do quick mental math for: select all the cells you want to check, and look at the bottom right of excel. it should display "average", "count", and "sum" check and complete the homework problems to solidify concepts and tools
Love your videos. Using them to help train before my job! One question though: How did you do that highlighting function in the Rep Criteria and Date criteria so that is highlights the names and dates when put into B1 and B2 respectively?
