Leila and Mynda are great people. You can already see how Mynda is thinking about updating her famous Dashboards using Python. It is good to see everyone's perspective.
I love Excel AND Python. This is exciting and am looking forward to getting the feature. I've already signed up on the beta channel, but yet to get the py feature integrated in Excel. Thanks for the video.
Nice video. They sure do need to add functionality to create a slicer that can source its members directly frim an array or range of cells and doesn’t need to involve a pivottable. And then be able to reference the chosen members in downstream formulas. The pivottable part just makes it feel really hacky.
Thanks! I was wondering what the fuss about Python in Excel was because most videos use examples Power Query or Power Pivot can do. Yours is an eye opener.
Yes. I was watching a video from a Python guy who was pretending to be an Excel guy. (A) he clearly used g**gle sheets and (b) he used Python to write a function already in Excel. I keep looking for something that we can’t easily do in Excel.
Charging for anaconda? Nice one as Anaconda can be installed locally for free. I suppose they have to cover the cost of security and server space for the python in Excel calculations though.
I was watching Family Feud. If I didn't stay for the Fast Money round, I could have posted my video before Leila's. But no.... I had to see if they would win the $20K (They did not)
Nice video!, Bill there is a function in Excel:=INFO("RECALC"), but in my version it only shows "Manual" or "Automatic" but I have 3 options. You should actually have 4 options now. Did you check this out? If not, something to repair for the Redmond team...😉
Great catch. Automatic gives me AUTOMATIC Automatic Excel Pivot Tables gave me AUTOMATIC Manual gives me MANUAL I could have dismissed this as a feature instead of a bug because they are giving me the first word of the feature. But now.... Partial gives me AUTOMATIC. Now it is a bug.
Today, I tried using py.read_excel() and it is blocked too. There is a MSFT support article that says to load external data using Power Query and then run Python from there.
This honestly looks amazing. I'm just beginning to learn Python after greatly upping my Excel skills over the last several months so the timing of this feature is perfect. Can anybod tell me if Python in Excel works exactly how Python would work in the past with an Excel plugin? Meaning is there any Excel specific code?
Very interesting. However, if it's going to be a paid feature, I don't see any of my clients having it installed on their computers, until the day this becomes part of regular Office subscriptions and part of the default installation. It's too bad, because I learned Python and looked in detail into the Python frameworks to interact with Excel and that never took off, so I thought maybe now we'd finally start using Python in Excel.
@@MrXLI guess we have to wait and see how the adoption goes, and, if low, what Microsoft does about it. Not sure what their strategy is here by introducing Python. Thanks for the additional info.
How do I enable Python scripts in Excel. I have confirmed my MS subscription, joined MS 365 Insider & signed up for Beta channel. What are the next steps?
@@ahmedsamir1577 first, it has to be Microsoft 365. Second, you have to opt into the Beta channel of Microsoft Insiders. Third, you have to be in the lucky portion who are chosen for testing. This portion will increase each week.
